I have several Baldwin lock-sets in my house. I purposely bought this lock because I wanted to key it like my other keys. After I installed it (and discarded the package-my fault) I discovered that this is a Kwickset mechanism and can't be keyed to other Baldwin sets. It should be written in big bold red letters on the box!!!

Easy to install overall but instructions for key lock handles need improvement (nothing in instructions about tightening handle set screws before they operate correctly)

These Baldwin locks are very well made, sturdy, and look great. After 18 years of use of our old other name brand locks, it was time to change three sets of door locks at our house. I chose Baldwin this time around because of the look, style, reputation and because you could use one key for all three of the entry locks, including the three bolt locks as well. The three entry door and bolt locks were easy to install with the instructions provided. The keying process was also very easy to complete for the use of one key for all of the locks. I would definitely recommend this line and products.

Had the lock for 3 years and now have to buy another. Since I cannot just buy the lock I have to spend another $60 on a new one.

Hey I just want to write an honest review for a product I've been using for over seven years now. I have these on 3 doors now, and buying another today. Follow the directions, and the rekey works flawless. Do not base your decision on someone elses review that may not understand.... I am over these negitive review jockeys ruining products and service reputation, just because they don't get it.

I tried to rekey the lock with my house key but it didn't work. It doesn't work for all keys. I dId try it with another key and it did work. Just not my house key.

Easy to install could not get it to sink with house key. May call a lock smith .

Avoid. First lock set failed after 15 months locking us out of our home at 1 AM. Took 60 minutes to remove from door. Exchanged for identical replacement and could not get it to lock with either the knob or the key. The SmartKey did not work either. Run away.... Don't know how others think this is a fabulous lock set. It is plastic and on a limited life.

I bought this unit to replace a old KwikSet one. It feels really solid. I installed according to the instructions enclosed but the key entrance was upside down. I called customer support and the tech guy indicated that there is a C clip near the keyed end that can be used to re-seat the key entrance right side up. I also did utilize the SmartKey technique to re-key it.

Bought a cheaper brand a few years ago and replaced all the locks of my new house. I have had many complaints over the years from people who don't know the "trick" to opening the door knobs. After getting tired of the wifes complaints, I bought the more expensive brand and let me tell you... they are nice. You can really feel the dirrerence, I guess you do get what you pay for.The Lever gives you extra torque if you older and can't open the door as easily, but this better quality lock doesn't stick like the old ones did. As often as I use a door knob, I should have bought quality to start with. Then I wouldn't be replacing them after just a few years.

These are well worth the money.Don't waste your time or money on any other brand. Very solidly built,easy to install

These are the best doorknobs I have ever had. One SmartKey didn't work just right (probably my error), so I called Baldwin. They told me to take it back to Home Depot, and they would be able to rekey it for me. When I got to Home Depot, they told me that they weren't trained in SmartKey technology. I called Baldwin again, and they immediately send me a new cylinder. A++ for Baldwin. C-- for Home Depot.

These lock sets are solid and beautiful. Their heft makes then feel great when you turn them. Their appearance is similar to other brands' premium locks. They re-key easily with the included tool and are easy to clean. They really feel as though they'll last a lifetime. I will not be buying Schlage or Kwikset again after my great experience with Baldwin.
