Ok But not easy to use
I bought a package of two of these rods. The only way I was able to get them to do what I wanted was to use Pro//Map gas and the TS8000 head. All other head/gas combinations either took too long or just would not get the aluminum to a hot enough temp. The first rod worked pretty well. But one thing I found is that (like solder) you can't just heat the metal to the right temp, remove the torch and expect the rod to flow. I could never get that to work, I had to put the rod in the flame to get it started then it would flow without the need for the torch. The second rod was a lot different than the first. It took more heat to melt and if I tried to put it in the flame it broke in pieces and didn't melt. Seems to be some quality control issues with the rods. I was able to get my project completed, but it was a pretty frustrating experience. I will try it again, just because its the only way I have to do what I need done, namely brazing two 1/4 X 1 X 6 inch pieces of aluminum flat stock.

I could not getting to melt using propane blue bottle. I would recommend using the yellow one it burns hotter and faster. It should specify that on the package.good luck.

I could not get these to adhere to 6061 aluminum despite using flux and a MAP torch and brushing the 1/8' aluminum square tubing. YouTube makes it look easy but only for very thin strips of aluminum does it seem to work well.

Not as easy to use without experience as some online...
Not as easy to use without experience as some online videos suggest. I had the problem that the brazing broke several times after I finished brazing, although it seemed solid enough. A wire brush treatment to the areas to be brazed helped. It also helped when I heated the metals to be brazed hot enough that the braze melted without the torch when touched to them, and did not melt the brazing rod using the torch. Heating the aluminum pieces to according to their size helped prevent melting of the pieces using MAP gas and oxygen during pre-heating. It is very difficult to manipulate the pieces after they are heated, they are easy to bump; everything should be clamped before welding. No rosin was needed, its on the rods.

      works ok
Bought these because i was out of hts2000. The rod worked ok, but imo, hts2000 is far better for ease of use, tinning, repair.

        Great for small jobs
These are hard to find in other stores, HD was the only store locally that stocks them. I used them to fix a broken strap on an aluminum chase lounge chair. Overall these worked well and I was happy with the end result. Just ensure that you clean and prep the area thoroughly of this won't stick. I used a propane torch to heat everything but wish I had used a MAPP torch as these rods seemed to need a lot of heat. Now, I always keep a few of these in my toolbox just in case.

        works well, saves money
I used this rod with MAPP gas to repair a cracked bolt hole on a aluminum turbo blow off valve for my car. Just make sure to thoroughly clean the surface with a stainless wire brush to rid of oxidation right before heating up the piece to be worked on. Also make sure to keep the flame moving all around to allow equal heating so it adheres properly. Flux is not needed but will be helpful if you are connecting joints due to the capillary action of the flux.

works great suggest viewing some you tube videos on how to use it
this saved me numerous times. Its harder then alluminum so it works really well lets say for a bike when the rear wheel mounts are wore out and you cant tighten down your wheel axle anymore. make a mold using sheet metal and melt this stuff in it and you got a repair thats stronger then taking it to a weld shop.

        Good Product
Got this product to use to build frames for display panels instead of buying the mig conversion kit for my arc welder and it has been performing well. Took a little time to get the hang of using it but now that I have it works great!
