I really liked the way this product is designed for installation. Finally a fan that I can install without climbing into an attic. I was surprised that the vented cover was metal. It will likely rust eventually but then the plastic ones always turn yellow so I guess it doesn't really matter. I suppose the plastic ones are a little nicer looking. The fan was quiet and seemed to pull air well. I will purchase another of these if the need arises.

A little louder/plasticy sounding than I would have assumed. My bathroom is at the upper limit of SF and it doesn't do a great job of keeping up.

The ARN80HD model is rated at 80 cfm's and 2.0 sones. It should be connected to a 4" round duct size. Anything smaller will increase the sound and decrease the performance. If you feel there is an issue with your fan, please give us a call at 888-336-6151 and we can try to help you more. We appreciate your feedback and look forward to speaking with you directly.

This is not the quietest fan to be found, but was significantly quieter than old one and the size was only 1/2" longer on the length than the 30 year old Fasco model I replaced. I chose this model to minimize the time and modifications for a retro-fit. It is well made and installed in a reasonable amount of time. If you have older bath fans in your home that need replacing I would recommend check this model out.

SUPER QUIET
This is a great fan. It is so quiet I hardly know it is on sometimes. I love the sturdy metal grill instead of the plastic ones that so many bathroom vent fans have. This metal one will last and can be painted again if ever needed. So it is quiet, pulls air, and works great. If it lasts a long time I will purchase it again when and if that time arrives.

I can't believe everyone raves about this fan. The back draft damper is horrible! It constantly clicks when there is even the slightest bit of air pressure pushing against it! I just did a full bathroom remodel and am so disappointed with the irritating noise that comes from the fan but I'm stuck with it because I paid someone to install it and don't want to pay someone to remove it and install a better one in its place. Don't buy this, it is rubbish!

    SMALL BATHROOM FAN
Works fine and was easy to replace quiet and an excellent price. I was expecting an extremely loud but it’s an excellent product so far. I removed the old exhaust fan and installed the new one in less than 20 minutes probably not the highest end model but I wasn't looking for that. It was still easy to install though. Very well built. I did have to cut a bigger area out. It went up well, wiring was easy. Fan has to come out to install vent. Overall great product. Strong enough fan for a small bathroom.

I wanted a fan that was easy to install in a first-floor bathroom and this fit the bill perfectly. Installation went exactly as shown in the promotional video. Depending on which joist you mount it on, you could find the exhaust on the wrong side from the existing ducting.

I love not going in the attic
This InVent Series Heavy Duty 80 CFM Ceiling Exhaust Bath Fan with Metal Grille is a great bath exhaust fan. Its foldable mounting ears allow for easy installation whether you are putting it in a new bathroom or just replacing an existing fan and you don't have to go in the attic to install it! That is a major plus when it is 120 degrees outside and even hotter in the attic.

    Excellent Vent
The Invent Heavy Duty 80 CFM vent was very easy to install in a bathroom renovation I did in my home. The instructions were very straightforward and clear. The vent is relatively quiet but powerful and effective. It looks like a standard exhaust fan but it is far more effective than any others I have used in the past. I am very glad I chose this product.

    Well constructed ceiling exhaust fan
We are finishing up construction of a bathroom below the loft in the shop. I got this fan because I wanted to install without having to move objects on the loft to install a fan. This unit was easy to install to the 2x12 floor joists and vent through the side wall of the shop. The squirrel cage fan moves a lot of air and is relatively quiet. I like having a metal grill instead of plastic. This should last a long time and is well made. I would recommend it to anyone replacing an existing fan or first time install.

    Very quiet fan
This ceiling fan can be installed in new construction or as a retrofit. We used it to replace a noisy fan in the laundry room that is on a timer, running 4 hours a day. As they say, measure twice to be sure you get the right sized unit. The instructions are clear. We found the hardest part was removal of the old unit. Essential removal tools were: crow bar, protective glasses, dust mask, gloves, hack saw. For install we used duct tape, drill driver, electrical tape, needlenose pliers.

    ONE OF THE BEST
This review is about the NuTone InVent Series Heavy Duty 80 CFM Ceiling Exhaust Bath Fan with Metal Grille, Model ARN80HD. If you are in the market for a ceiling exhaust fan, this model number is important to you. Many models appear similar but this model is one of the top exhaust fans on the market. It is an excellent product well worth the money for many reasons. It moves air at 80 cubic feet per minute (80CFM), a flow sufficient for the typical single wash basin bathroom of no more than 75 sq. ft. Although I used a professional electrician to install the fan, it was an easy install as reported by him. I think that anyone with a better set of ladder legs than I could install this fan. It can be installed from the room side so attic access is not required. If this fan is purchased as a replacement fan, this room side feature will be especially welcomed. The fan cage and fan blade are made of a non-metallic material (plastic) that contributes to its low noise level. I think one of the critical factors in evaluating a fan is its noise level. One does not want to wake up sleeping guests in a room adjoining the bathroom. The fan is rated at 2 sones – sones being a unit measure of sound. I read that 1 sone can be considered similar to the sound made by a very quiet refrigerator. This fan is quiet. In fact, it is the quietest ceiling fan I have ever encountered in my home or in the home of others. This feature alone makes it a good buy. The fan is UL listed and approved for installation directly over a shower or bath. Of course, such a location requires a GFI in the wiring connection. The built in 4-inch duct connector is well sized to accommodate the flow of exiting air. If your old fan used a 3-inch duct, you will have to buy a 4 to 3-inch adapter to install between the fan duct and the existing duct work. I appreciate the fact that the grille is metal and therefore does not have the flat appearance of so many plastic grilles. I found the white metal grille to fit well with our white painted ceiling and I would think it would go well with most colored paints. I recommend this fan to all. It is well worth the extra money to get a powerful, very quiet, easily installed ceiling fan.

    works well
The light looks good. It can take up to two 60 watt bulbs that give plenty of light. I have used this company’s exhaust fan before and found it nice. The last one was easy to install in a finished celling. That is why I wanted another one similar because of the ease of installation. This one went in just as easy. It is quite and can be used with two switches for the fan and light.

Super Quiet and really well made
First thing I noticed about this fan was that it didn't have the typical open frame motor I've seen on other fans. It is not a TEFC motor, but the motor is enclosed in a ventilated "can" that should be much less likely to become fouled with dust and other bathroom grottus. The second thing is that the squirrel cage and shroud are of plastic rather than stamped steel, and this makes for a much quieter, well balanced fan. I have had trouble with stamped steel fans before...by the third or fourth time you take them down for cleaning, they are a bit bent up and they start to bang and rattle. I hate that. This one is easy to take apart for cleaning and the molded shroud is stout enough that I don't think it will get bent or distorted in the process of removing and replacing it for it's annual cleaning. I put this in place of an existing Nutone fan and it fit right in to the existing rough opening.

Seems solidly built and high quality. The metal grille, to me, looks much nice than the plastic ones which seem to be on most of these exhaust fans. The fan is too darned noisy though. That's the thing that keeps my rating low. Too many vibrations or something. It is very securely mounted so that's not the problem.

    Easy installation, solid product
Well made. Metal grill is a nice touch. Fairly quiet and just the right amount of sound, to have a little white noise, but not too much.

I just finished installing 2 different NuTone fans: the 2.0 sone ARN80HD and this 2.5 sone QKN60 upgrade kit. Now that I know the sound difference between 2.0 vs 2.5 sones, I would recommend anybody installing a new fan should look for 2.0 sones or less. Anything greater than 2.0 sones is too loud. This is a sturdy looking fan. It's bigger than the Hampton Bay 1.5 sone fan, but I ended up returning that one because it was light and flimsy and it seemed to rattle when it was starting up. Also the Hampton Bay had this silly humidity sensing feature with no way to permanently bypass the humidity sensing. So it meant if I wasn't taking a shower and wanted to just get rid of the *ahem* smell, then I had to flip the switch twice. It was a crazy design. This fan and box is pretty standard in installation. I like how the fan snaps into the housing so it's very easy to unplug and upgrade or replace later on.

        Heavy duty exhaust fan
Good things still do come in small packages. This NuTone exhaust fan is solidly constructed, easy to install, and use. If replacing an old unit carefully disconnect the power, and vent hookup, install the new fan unit, and reconnect the vent and power. Restore power from breaker, and test the unit for proper function. If new installation, install in accordance with all local codes. Install on a GFI protected circuit if using within six feet of water sources.

Really like the metal grill, plastic grills, the clips always break off when cleaning. Fan is also quiet and has good CFM flow.

InVent Series Heavy Duty 80 CFM Ceiling Exhaust Bath Fan with Metal Grille
What a great fan for the bathroom, started another bathroom upgrade and needed a fan to vent the room a lot faster then the existing fan I had. Installation was a breeze and the instructions were straight forward and made the installation a slam dunk. Superior quality and workmanship are the norm for tis brand, this is the second ventilation fan I installed.

        A durable exhaust fan
This fan replaced an old 1970s style exhaust fan. What a difference! Not only is it a more efficient fan, but it is much quieter. The white metal grill is an added plus to this fan. I also enjoyed the easy-to-read installation instructions for both non-attic access and new construction installation. Finally, I bought this fan because it is assembled in the USA. Spending my money to keep Americans working means a great deal to me.

          Great Replacement
he InVent Series Heavy Duty 80 CFM Ceiling Exhaust fan is much better than the previous one I had. This exhaust van is much quieter and keeps the steam from accumulating better than the older one. It took about 30 minutes to replace to previous fan. The instructions were very well written. The fan looks much better than the older one. Overall a great fan.

That's one way to clear a room.
The InVent Series Ceiling exhaust fan is an amazing addition to the bathroom remodel that was recently completed. Although I cannot speak to the ease and or difficulty of installation personally, as I had it installed by someone else, I can tell you that my installer mentioned that it was a piece of cake and the instructions were easy enough to follow. Mind you that this was a completely new install in the ceiling so there was no need to be concerned about existing dry wall or cut outs as this was not a retrofit to an existing opening or duct work. I will comment on the fact that this unit is quiet... almost TOO quiet. The fan assembly is whisper quiet and depending on the location of the bathroom in your home, you may want to be aware of this. Sometimes a little "ambient white noise", in a centrally located guests powder for example, is a welcome "distraction" for the comfort of those utilizing the commode (if you get my drift... pun intended). With that being stated, the fan is highly effective and gets the job done of clearing a room faster than me singing karaoke at the local sushi bar.
