These look excellent. They're not difficult to install, but they're not exactly easy either. You have to have some basic carpentry skills. Stairs are a pain, there's no way around it. Each step will be different. Take your time. Measure three or four times, cut once. I cut the depth first. You don't want the depth to be short, so I recommend cutting slightly long on the depth. By "slightly long" I mean 1/16 to no more than 1/8" long. Then measure the length on both the back and front of the step. The longest measurement will be your starting point. Then, use an angle finder to figure out the end cuts. It's rare that they'll be exactly 90 deg. If you have no idea what I'm saying, or you're just unsure if you have the skills to take these on, then I suggest you don't. Hire someone to do them. That said, I only have basic carpentry skills, and these came out excellent. I didn't order any extras, so I took my time and I was very, very careful.

Product is excellent the way they ship them is not excellent! If it wasn’t for the shipping I would give them a five star. Product is easy to work with and goes on easy. We did have to ship some back to be replaced because of the way their packaged.

this is the fastest and easiest way to update your stairs,we removed the carpet from our stairs and installed the Cap A Treads which was a big improvement. the completed project turned out beautiful and looks like expensive finished wood steps that match our flooring. we are very satisfied with this product and i would definitely recommend them. i installed 12 treads and risers in about 6 hours, just make sure you read and understand the instructions before you get started and you won't have any problems.

Love the LifeProof product, but very disappointed with poor transition solution between flooring and top stair Cap-a-Tread.

Wrong color and you cannot just put it over the steps

I bought these to match the LiftProof Choice Oak flooring as it is what was recommended for the stairs from Life Proof. The color matched nicely however my only complaint is that the Cap-A-Tread pieces are thicker than the flooring so this caused problems. They were easy to install and look great after troubleshooting the thickness problem.

It was a good piece of material to work with unfortunately, it was the wrong Cap a Tread that I needed. I wished that you had a piece in stock at the regular store instead of online. It is hard to see if it will work or not until it arrives.

It is a good option but highly overpriced. The quality of the material is good though I am not sure that it is good enough for what it is intended. Time will tell if the investment was worth it.

Easily installed over existing wood stairs. Made an old stairway look brand new. Saved over $1500 dollars by installing myself rather than using a contractor.

High quality, about 7 days to receive order. All 14 arrived in perfect condition. Easy to cut to our desired size with a table saw. Overall great experience!

The product itself is great; however, there seems to be pretty bad quality control issues. At least 20% were damaged in every batch i ordered. Some were standard shipping damages like a cracked bullnose while others were clearly manufacturing issues like the printing of the pattern or the stair itself. One was half assembled to be a cap-end stair but it looked like they stopped mid way and just boxed it up as a regular one. Since they are not sold in stores and take 2 weeks to come in, i'd suggest you plan accordingly when ordering. Home depot stores accept returns for broken or extra items with no issues.
