It's not very heavy weight. More like medium weight.

This one is somewhat different from the previous model I find this one to be more water resistant from the coating that was applied to it and the tighter weave. They really took the idea of the rain defender and got more serious about what it claims to do. I find the new model to not have as much breathability as the previous model. The inner liner really helped create a pocket of air that was exceptionally good at wicking away moisture. If it were actually raining I would prefer the new model for the ability to repel water: the coating really makes a difference. If it were a fall day with the sun shining I would prefer the older model because the moisture wicks away far better. The new model can feel a bit more sticky, like it just doesn't breathe as well. They are both great hoodies and I can understand why they made changes to the hoodie. Two different models to accomplish the same task, I found the old model has more versatility though.

Bought this jacket for my husband, he was surprised at how warm it is and likes the comfort and roominess. He really enjoys wearing this jacket and is very pleased with it.

It's a little bit long so it sometimes pops up in the front center. That might go away after it's been washed.

bought a large rain defender last year and I swim in it. its huge, I don't wear it. I'm waiting for someone I know to give it to that it might fit! I bought a medium last week and its way to snug to zip it up? i'm having a hard time with the return but I will call them today, I'm sure the return is operator error on my part .i will order a large rain defender today . I love my B11 pants there the longest wearing pants I've owned. they last 3 times longer than Levi 501's

I wish it didn't shed on my white tshirts makes them look horrible but after a wash it doesn't shed as much but the fit style and looks and quality top notch I love them bought 3 of the same exact hoodie easily would of given 5stars if it didn't destroy fresh white tshirt it doesn't stain it it's the Lint its a Lottttttttt of Lint !!

Probably my favorite jacket. In the South, heavy weight jackets are needed on occasion, but these are my favorite go-to wear when heading out. Comfortable, easy to grab and go, and still provides some rain protection. And has a hood when needed.

Overall a very good looking, well made true to size fit. "heavyweight" is a bit misleading. A little more fleece insulation and it could be used as a 3 season rain defender.

This is my husband's second Carhartt rain defender. He loves them. Carhartt makes such quality apparel. We be a repeat customer for sure

I have a similar Carhartt that is 20-years old and still good, but is getting wear on the outside and not suitable for in town use anymore. This new one is good for that plus I like the roominess and warmth.

Fits perfectly, relaxed but presentable like he (my dad) likes it. He wears it nearly every day!

I use for main winter coat rain beads off iam impressed plenty warm not big and bulky like most coats

I am a big fan of carhartt. This is the first clothing I've ever gotten from online purchase/gift. I do all my shopping in person. So, this particular sweatshirt come to me without a pull tab for the zipper. It's a bummer

Claims to be heavyweight but it is lighter than expected and previous Carhartt Sweatshirts that I have purchased. Still like it just not what I expected.
