Nice 14/3 wire
Nice NM-B 14 gauge residential wire that has three conductors. This wire is obviously blue which stands out from the typical Romex. This is perfect for residential wiring. Then wire has incorporated SLiPWire technology which allows for improved tear resistance, faster pulling, easy stripping and reduced burn through. The wire is easy to bend, which is great for corner applications. UL listed.

Great wire
I'm used to the 14/3 wire being slightly twisted. This is flat like the 14/2 wire. It should give a neater and nicer layout, but takes a little more effort to go through holes. However it has the slip wire coating to make it easier to feed. I received this Cerrowire 250 ft. 14/3 Light Blue Solid CerroMax SLiPWire Copper NM-B Wire for free to write this review.

Love the Color-Coded Blue 14/3 from Cerromax
There’s not a lot to differentiate this cable from conventional 14/3 wire, except for the blue color of the outer plastic NM (non-metallic) sheathing. I use a lot of 14/3 for switched loads, like lights, fans and outlets. So while this doesnt change the application or performance of the cable, I really like this new development, which should make wiring just a little bit easier for the installer and the inspector. The installer will know to grab the spool of blue cable when the wiring plan calls for 14/3 wire; When preparing to wire devices, it will also be a little easier to identify 14/3 (blue) from 14/2 (white). Since both 14/2 and 14/3 are commonly used in house wiring, both will be easy to identify at a glance prior to drywall, making the inspector’s job easier as well, since he’ll be able to match up wiring to the wiring plan. It will also be easier to make a mental note of on-site inventory, as it will be easy to differentiate between the 14/2 and 14/3, and know when you need to open another spool of needed cable. With this development, all the commonly used wire sizes will be color coded: 14/2 White 14/2 UF (underground) Gray 14/3 Blue 12/2 Yellow 10/3 Orange Made in the USA!

Genius
This is a genius idea. I really hope other brands follow suit and it becomes an industry standard. Being able to identify a wire size and count at a glance is so much nicer then having to find the markings or get up close to inspect for what you are looking at. I’m surprised this hasn’t already been done before. We already differentiate 14, 12, and 10 gauge wires by color so why not take it a step further to make wire counts a color coded standard as well.

Color Coded and flat advantage wire.
Working in any junction box or wall where multiple wires are entering, its always a challenge to know which wire is which. This cable from CERROMAX lets you clearly know which wire is the 14/3 cable, as its distinctive light blue jacket tells the tale. The three copper conductor 14/3 NM-B with ground wire is a standard cable used for wiring three-way switches, ceiling fans with a separate light control, room outlets branch circuits where the top or bottom plug is controlled separately from a switch, and other applications where a third conductor is needed. SLIPWire technology keeps the cable flexible and aids in pulling, the jacket is tight and clean, and compact and flat, as compared to rounded 14/3 cables. It lies flat against a surface for ease of stapling and is very flexible overall. This is wire that is usually used in residential branch 14 Amp circuits, rated at 600 volt and the insulation is rated at 90-degree C. The cable consists of a bare copper ground wire, and a white, red, and black insulated conductor. Each is shielded with paper and then the primary light blue plastic cover. Cable strips and cuts easily. Working with this cable is great – and its easy identification clearly gives it an advantage over standard white 14/3 cable. Economical 250-foot roll is UL rated.

Does the job!
Good wire for 15 amp protected circuits. The individual conductor jackets are thick enough to work well but still strip off very easily. That makes trimming out a breeze. My only issue with this wire is that the outside jacket is pretty thin and soft. When you are pulling the wire through wall studs it can have a tendency to grab and bunch up if your holes are off a bit. Nothing major but something to be aware of.

Easy to identify and easy to pull
This 250 roll of Cerrowire NM-B is for indoor use. What sets it apart is the light blue color jacket to help easily identify that it is 14/3. It also features what the manufacture calls SLiPWire technology. Essentially the outer jacket contains a self lubricating polymer that which helps the cable slide through conduit without the use of additional lubricants. The manufacturer also indicates the jacket is tear resistant and has improved burn through protection. The jacket feels thinner to me than the competitor’s jacket. I found the Cerrowire jacket would not tear on its own. However, if I started a cut I could continue to tear the jacket fairly easily. On the other hand, my jacket cutter sometimes had trouble starting the cut if the jacket had any bunching or flaps from a previous cut. The product was easy to use and functioned as expected.

Good wire
There’s not normally all that much that sets NM wire apart from one another. This has a somewhat more slippery feel to it that may make it easier to pull- I can’t say that I truly noticed a difference though. The blue color makes it super easy to tell the difference between regular 14-2 (admittedly that’s not that hard to do with the white 14-3 wire either). Overall, if you need some 14-3, give this a shot. It’s pretty good.

Excellent Wire for Indoor Wiring
The Cerrowire 14/3 w/ Ground 250ft roll is exactly what I need for wiring up my pole barn. This wire is easy to use either in conduit or stapled along the supports and studs inside your home or garage. This wire is perfect for combo fan lighting or simple 3 way switch setups. Each wire is individually wrapped and the ground is surrounded by a heavy paper sleeve. Once I finish my layout for the electrical, I will know exactly where to best use this wire. The Slipwire technology is new and supposed to eliminate the need for lubricating the plastic sleeve with lube. It should slide in conduit and through stud holes easier than the regular wire.

Finally quality color coded 14/3 NM-B Wire
Cerrowire finally brought to the market a little color. Electricians have been asking for color coded wires for a long time and finally we can see this 14/3 Light Blue Solid CerroMax SLiPWire Copper NM-B Wire in three versions - white, blue and purple. It may not sound like much but it makes wiring so much easier to trace, to inspect and later on during the course of usage to repair, or splice if needed into additions or removals. The cable is the same high quality annealed copper that we are used to finding on all cerrowire products - the perfect composition between pliable so it is easy to pull and rigid enough so it doesn't get easily bent over its own weight on longer gaps. Cerrowire implemented the SliPWire technology, which consist of specially formulated PVC sheathing which does not require the standard lubrication if you need to pull it through a conduit. Construction is similar to all other NM-B type wires - color coded PVC sheathing, a layer of fire retardant paper wrap, color coded PCV covered wires with a polyamide covering for better abrasion resistance and thermal insulation, paired with a ground wire that is separately wrapped in a fire retardant paper cover. The core and ground wire, are made from uncoated extruded copper per ASTM B3. This wire is compliant with all US standards - UL 719: E9810, UL 83: E15119, ASTM B3 and ASTM B8, making it applicable in all projects - commercial, industrial or residential. This wire is primarily used in residential wiring, including branch circuits for outlets and switches for low ampacity (up to 15A) circuits for lighting, wired fire alarms and security systems, etc. This cable is not designed for use in normally dry locations with temperatures up to 90°C, and with the ampacity limited to that of 60°C conductors, and is rated for up to 600V / 15A. The primary design of the sheathing is not meant for sun-exposed applications, so there is no UV-resistance rating on it. In terms of pricing it comes unnoticeably more expensive than a standard white sheathing, which probably doesn't even cover just half of the price of the coloring agent during manufacturing. It is a good product and a must have in an electrical project. Having the lines easily readable makes inspections easy and convenient.

Easy to use
The CERROMAX 250 ft. 14/3 Light Blue NM-B Wire with ground worked perfectly for my 220 volt, 4 Amp sprinkler booster pump in a detached building. I connected the Cerromax 14/3 wire to a 220 volt feed in my building and then ran it to my booster pump controller and to my booster pump. The blue color helps identify that the wire is 3 conductor in lieu of the standard 2 conductor wire. All though I did not run my wire through conduit, the Cerromax NM-B has an improved "slip wire" technology which makes it easier to pull through conduit. This wire has three copper conductors (red, black and white) with a separate copper ground wire and is primarily used for residential wiring.

Am I Blue?
This roll of Cerrowire weighs about 23 pounds. I measured 3 ohms total resistance for each 250 foot conductor (which seems high, but we’ll blame the discrepancy on my volt-ohm meter). There were no opens and no shorts between the all copper (not copper-clad) conductors. This cable is 14-3, which means there are three 14 gauge current carrying individually insulated conductors PLUS an uninsulated ground wire, all inside a blue plastic jacket. All of the insulation looked good. The outside jacketing was easily removed. I did not like that both ends were factory-cut at a very acute angle, which left some very sharp ends on the conductors. Overall, this is a good cable, and the color helps with tracing a circuit after installation, if mixed with other colors.

works great, and flexible too
This is a 14/3 w/GND wire, typically used for 220V or 3-way light switches. Note that 14ga wire is only good up to 14A (+/-1, depending on whose ampacity chart you are consulting), so if you need something that can handle 20A, you'll have to step up to 12ga wire. The blue color sets it apart from other wires, so it is easy to identify. The insulation is thin and flexible, so it is much easier to handle than other wires I have tried. The insulation also strips easily, so installation is easy.

My go to 14/3 cable
The Cerromax 14/3 wire is rated for 15 Amps indoor dry location use. Inside the sheath there are three 14-gauge conductors, a black power, a white neutral, and a red power plus a ground wire. The distinctive color makes it easy to spot in a bundle and instantly lets you know the gauge and number of conductors without having to read the markings on the wire. This cable comes in handy when wiring three-way light switches or any application in which two power conductors are needed. I found the sheath to be wider, but not as thick as other 14/3 wires. With the cable not as tightly bundled it is much easier to pull on the individual wires for additional length. The exterior jacket is much smoother and slipper which makes this an ideal cable for tight spaces and paths with obstructions. While the jacket is wider, it does not present an issue when inserting into an electrical box. Overall, I found Cerromax to be more pliable and easier to work with, and it is now my wire of choice.

BEFORE YOU BUY THIS, YOU SHOULD KNOW ....
Before you use any 14/3 w/ground NM-B wire, you should know what it's NOT used for. - But first: In a nutshell, this Cerrowire NM-B is great wire. Obviously, it meets NEC requirements. In comparing NM-B cables, there are a couple of things I look for. 1) does it pull easy and 2) does it strip easy. In both cases, the answer is yes. As far as the color goes, I have always liked to have different sheath colors for different gauges or conductors. In this case, light blue is a good idea. Generally, 12 gauge is yellow, 14 gauge is white. So, this will distinguish 14/3 from the bunch. It will certainly make it easier to tell you where your 3-way switches or smoke detectors need to be installed. Now on to what you SHOULD KNOW about this wire: 1) For safety concerns, NM-B is NOT made to run inside conduit. It's for residential and light commercial and is run through studs, in attics, between floors. etc. Check your local codes on details. 2) It is potentially dangerous to run 2 branch circuits with only one neutral wire. Meaning one 14/3 (or 12/3) cable is broken out so that the black and red wires go to 2 separate breakers. - This is dangerous because there is only one white wire (neutral/return) and 2 “hot” (supply) wires. If the 2 hot wires are on breakers that get their input from the same incoming leg and each one draws 15 amps, you will then have 30 amps on the single white 14-gauge wire, which is rated for only 15 amps. Double “overloaded”. In the past "shared" neutral was allowed, so you might see it in older homes. But it's a dangerous practice. Too many things can go wrong. For example, assume the 2 hot wires are installed on adjacent 15-amp breakers (one above the other). Since US single phase boxes alternate the “legs” the 2 breakers will be on different legs. In this case you will never get more than 15 amps on the neutral wire because the 2 legs are 180 degrees out of phase (eyes glazed over yet?). However, if someone else works on your box and moves one of the breakers to a different slot. You have a 50% chance that that common neutral wire could now be carrying 30 amps (if the 2 breaker are now on the same leg). Or if someone needs more circuits and installs on of those nifty "2 breakers in one slot" jobs. Now you have a 100% chance that you can overload the neutral wire, since both breakers are fed from the same incoming leg. - Another reason is if you flip off only one of the breakers (no matter where it located) and are working on the “dead” circuit. If you disconnect a neutral connection thinking, it’s dead, it might NOT be! The neutral can still be carrying current from the OTHER HOT circuit and if you disconnect the wire, you might get a real SHOCK. Believe me I found this out the hard way. It’s just not a good idea. - Another reason is that the GFCI and AFCI breakers will not operate because they need a dedicated neutral for each branch (breaker). In many places local code requires these devices to prevent fires and electrocution. - Now for excellent places to use 14/3 or 12/3. - FYI: 14-gauge wire should be on a 15-amp breaker. 12-gauge wire on a 20-amp breaker. - The most common use for 3 conductor (with ground) NM-B is to make it easier/cheaper to wire a light circuit with multiple switches (i.e. 3-way, 4-way). Those circuits need ONE extra hot wire to make them work. Eliminates running two separate 2 conductor cables and waste an unused conductor. - Another super use for 14/3 is for multiple AC powered "wired" smoke (or CO) detectors. Many cities require that all smoke detectors alarm when one alarms. The 2nd “hot” wire is used as the “alert” wire to the other detectors. Obviously, this is for safety. - Another not as common use is with a SPLIT switched 110V outlet. The "switched" leg can be one hot wire and the "unswitched" leg to the other hot wire. Again, both hot wires actually come from the same breaker. - I'm sure there are other legal uses for 14/3, but consult an electrician first to be sure. I have been an Electrical Engineer for 40+ years and I would personally consult or hire an electrician, because they deal with code inspectors all the time and know what's legal and what's not.

14/3 Solid Copper @ 250' Roll
Cerrowire 250' 14/3 NM with Ground Light Blue Color Solid Conductors Slipwire. Light Blue color indicates 14 gauge. Nice 250' roll for plenty of lighting circuit use. It could be used for outlets, but only 15 Amp instead of 20 Amp that requires 12 gauge. Has non-metallic sheathing with new SLIPWire Coating for easier pulling. Doesn't seem much different than their original sheathing, but the difference could be impregnated in the new sheathing. Great product as always. Can't go wrong with this for residential wiring requiring 14 gauge wire.

Cerrowire 250 ft. 14/3 Light Blue Solid CerroMax SLiPWire Copper NM-B Wire
Cerro Wire 250 ft 14/3 Solid CerroMax Slipware Copper NM-B Wire is an innovation of being able to now recognize the rating of wire just by the color of the sheathing. Plumbing has had piping color codes for years which is a safety factor. Now the wire capacity can now be known just by the color. Now you can tell CerroMax 3-conductor NM-B from 2-conductor immediately. Whether you're an electrical pro or an apprentice who's just learning the trade, CerroMax makes it easy to distinguish 14-3 in a split second. The power of color makes it better for inspectors, too. When you see light blue CerroMax NM-B, you know it is 14-3. SLIPWire make pulling the wire easier.

Nice quality
Its nice to see Made in USA on any product. This Cerromax roll of 14/3 NM-B is Made in USA. I chose the 250 ft roll. 14/3 wire is 14 gauge with 3 strands encased for ease of routing. This roll is specified for indoor or no moisture exposure use only. 14/3 wire is rated for 15 amps or less. This wire is perfect for powering lights, small electronics and light duty receptacles. I would recommend 12/3 for kitchen receptacles, freezers, refrigerators, microwaves and other kitchen appliances. The flexibility is just right for ease of use.

The Cerro Blue 14 gage 3 conductor with a bare ground helps Identify the project you're working on
The Cerro blue 14 gauge 3 conductor (white, red, black insulated wires plus a ground) helps my team Identify the project / area they are working. With having the different colors, gauges, & conductor wires. I’ve been able to use the different wires for different applications. The wire is flexible and easy to use and strip. I’ve recently use the blue 3 conductor with bare ground for the lighting and fans in each of my bedrooms. I ran the hot to the junction / switch box and then up to the ceiling box where I connected the ceiling fan / light kit. Again there is nothing special about this wire, I just found the blue casing helps me identify the 14 gauge 3 conductor wire, and being that it is 3 conductor plus the ground. It makes it easier to pull through conduit.

Distinguishing Wire Made Easier
Cerro has just made distinguishing 14/3 NM-B from 14/2 NM-B easier with its light blue coloring of the outer jacket instead of white. It was not that many years ago that all building wire outer jackets were white. You had to read the black print or the embossed print on the outer jacket to know what the conductor was. This made re-work wiring somewhat difficult for the installer but a real challenge for an inspector. He or she could only look at the size of the wire and make an educated guess most of the time. Since that time, manufacturers have voluntarily color-coded outer jackets for conductor size, but not for number of conductors as Cerro has done. Another feature of Cerro's 14/3 is the SLiPWire technology for the outer jacket. It is much slicker than the old jackets and will pull easier. When I have a long run that I am pulling through studs or rafters, the ease of pulling the wire through the drilled holes becomes a major factor. Without the SLiPWire technology, the wire frequently becomes stuck on the wood and you have to move your ladder back to unstick it. It also does seem that the 14/3 Cerro wire is a little more flexible, which makes going around corners and through fittings much easier. If I have a wiring project that uses both 14/2 and 14/3, my job just became easier with the Cerro light blue 14/3. This is a major reason to select Cerro over other manufacturers as time is a huge wiring factor.

I had to run circuits from the panel in the basement to the Master bedroom and master bath, running 14/3 saved me time and money. Also had to run a circuit to the front and rear gutter heaters. Having the outer sheathing color coded makes it easy to identify the different circuits and amps. I also need to run several circuits to the other side of my 28 x 40’ garage I’ll be building as soon as the weather breaks . There will be two separate 15 amp circuits and two separate 20 amp circuits. I’ll be pulling it though 2” PVC conduit with a couple of bends and don’t want to have two 14/2 wires and two 12/2 wires, plus it’ll be easier to pull just the two wires instead of four and it’s more cost effective. Once I get to the other side, I’ll then pull to the individual boxes.

Nice, unusually slippery NM-B wire in 14-3 (white, red, black insulated conductors plus a ground). Sheathing slits easily. The package and jacket is marked UL and NM-B, so it should be good to go. This wire uses their "SLiPWire" technology to make pulling wire easier - the jacket has a self-lubricating polymer that they say saves "time labor and cost" for installation by avoiding having to use separate lubricant. You don't normally need to put NM-B wire in a conduit, but the times when you would need to do so (to protect it from damage), this would pull easily.

The Cerro wire is a great choice for any job. This blue one is a 14 gage three conductor with a bare ground, each different color is a different gage wire and different conductor count. The color coding helps a lot when your running many different strands for different purposes. The wire was easy to strip and nice and pliable to work with. The three conductor is great for separate switched circuits or one hot and one switched with a common neutral. It is also perfect for a two switch common lighting set up. If you were wiring a whole house the different color jackets would be a great time saver, I just removed a few old lamp cord circuits in the attic from the previous tenant and brought them up to code.

This is another science improvement in wiring that I give a thumbs up to. CerroMax is NM-B wiring with SLiPWire which they say allows you to work "smarter not harder." After a few pulls, I find two benefits of CerroMax SLiPWire - 1) it works; the wire does have "slip" which makes it easier to pull. And 2) the wire's sheathing is plasticized making it more pliable and easier to bend. CerroMax has decided to color code their 14-3 wiring blue to distigish from 14-2 (white). I like white for all 14 wire, so could take or leave the blue coloring. Note - new wiring should only be pulled by licensed electricians or those working under their supervision.

This is just standard electrical wiring for residential and light commercial business. It has the same dimensions that are essential for the transfer of the electrical current from the power source to the device being used. The only difference us the color of the wire casing [the outer sheeting layer]. The 14/3 wire is a light cyan or blue in color compared to the white it was before, only used to identify it as being a 3 wire conductor instead of a 2 wire conductor.

CERROMAX 250 ft. 14/3 Light Blue NM-B Wire feels like it is a quality product. The one thing that makes this wire stand out from the others is the color coding. Old pros can quickly glance at a length of wire and tell you what size it is. I just don't have that experience and it can be aggravating at times to find the label in poor light or when it's been rubbed off. I appreciate the fact that I can look at the wire and know the size just by the color. This prevents me from making the mistake of bringing the wrong size to the site when splicing runs together and makes it easy for the inspector to identify my work being up to code. It claims to have SLiPWire technology to make it easier to pull. Maybe I didn't encounter the right scenario but nothing stood out to me that made me think it was any easier to run. Stripping the wire was easy and required little effort with no stretching of the insulation as some cheap wire does. I like to keep my money at home and unfortunately could not find anywhere on the package that told me where it was manufactured.

Just when I got used to referring to ROMEX more like a generic term for NM wire, along comes CerroMax NM-B wire. A 14/3 wire that that lays flat like a 14/2, but gives you the advantage of being suitable for three way switch and split outlet circuits, where one side of a duplex receptacle is always on, while the other is controlled by a switch. CerroMax's new SLiPWire technology also makes the wire easier to pull, while the light blue color help to identify it at a glance. All in all, this wire lays flat and straight, bends easily and strips clean, helping to make my work look neat.

This is a giant roll of 14/3 wire. 14/3 is typically used for wiring 3-way switches for household lighting. What I like about this wire is its blue color. That helps differentiate it from the regular 14/2 wires. I also found it to pull easily through ¾ inch conduit. 250 feet should provide enough for any home user, as well as to keep a professional stocked up.
