I love it.

Love this product

Although its' primary use would be to upgrade a clothes closet, I got the CLOSETMAID STYLE+ 48 IN. WHITE MELAMINE TOP SHELF KIT WITH HARDWARE to solve a problem with my utility closet. I needed more shelving for all the vacuum cleaner attachments, the wet and dry mop refills and everything else you use in the normal cleaning of your household. The unit went together very quickly in less than 15 minutes. The unit is easy to hang because it comes with a bar that is mounted on the wall first and then you just hang the unit on that bar and then reinforce it, easily done by one person. It comes with a few options of hardware to use depending on the type of installation (studs or drywall). I think it is a great way to solve storage problems, it certainly solved mine.

I have an empty wall in my master bedroom walk in closet where I NEEDED SOME EXTRA SHELVEING AND CABINETS, so I went to my Home Depot and started looking and checking for the "ready made items that would work for me. My logical choice was easy to make as Closet Maid had the best products both in size, quality and color to meet my needs. The shelf and cabinet are an excellent addition which really meets our requirements, both in quality and style.

This review is for the ClosetMaid 48” top shelf kit and the 31” Hanging Tower. These two items don’t necessarily go together but I received them in the same order and installed in the same area. Storage solutions for closets also work really well in the garage, and that’s where I installed these two items. First, the shelf: nothing really special, it’s a 48” by 14” white shelf and there are a couple of things to be aware of. First, the top and bottom, and the front edge have a nice white melamine surface but the sides have unfinished particle board showing. Not an issue for garage use, and I could easily paint them if I wanted to. Second, the included brackets to mount the shelf to the wall don’t hold it level from back to front – the front will sag down. Both of these issues are because this shelf was intended to be used with a ClosetMaid system that would have provided support for the top shelf and hid the unfinished edges. I used a couple of small shelf brackets (see photo) to support the shelf. The hanging “tower” system was easy to assemble and easy to hang. It uses “cam locks” and goes together quickly. The top bracket gets installed to the wall – if you’re lucky you’ll catch two studs, but ClosetMaid knows you’re not that lucky so extra wall anchors are provided. Once the bracket is up you just hang the tower unit on it and use the addition provided anchors and screws to keep it secure to the wall. The bracket and anchors allow it hold up to 100 pounds. I really like the hanging tower concept – that plus adding the shelf above created a huge amount of storage space on the garage wall and would work equally well in a closet. ClosetMaid makes a lot of closet storage modules, so just make sure the ones you order are meant to be used together.

Accurate directions, solid, well finished parts, overall quality is good. There are some opportunities for the assembled parts to lean during assembly, causing stress on the fasteners, and could easily break down the particle board. I would caution that the tall cabinet assemblies should be handled by 2 people and extra care be taken to ensure that everything remain square during assembly. Any slightly off angles also impact the drawer slide functions. Once together and hung, very solid. I had one drawer slide that was sticky, and upon closer exam, I found it was missing 2 out of 4 bearings in one spot. Easy return, replacement, took care of it. This is the second closest ive used these in, and would do it again.

My only wish was that they would have made it in a couple of more sizes (than they already have). But other than that it’s a great product.

The closet design was great and the product arrived quickly. The installation was easy and it looks great. My daughter says it feels like you are walking through a store.

Great rods...lots of new hanging space. The bar is nice and allows you to slide hangers without the trouble that typical ventilated shelving gives you! I added this to my ClosetMaid Style+ 5-shelf closet system so that I would have more shelf space on the top. It was super easy. After I installed the 5-shelf system, I installed the rod brackets and popped the bars into place. It is that simple... Some tips when installing...use a level when installing the brackets. Make sure to put the rod in place before screwing the brackets in to make sure it fits nice and is level.

Awesome shelves! I added this to my ClosetMaid Style+ 5-shelf closet system so that I would have more shelf space on the top. It was super easy. After I installed the 5-shelf system, I measured the length needed for the shelf. I cut the shelf to the length and put in the brackets....voila I was done! Some tips when installing...leave time to repair the wall inside the closet. When taking down old shelving, you will have holes in the wall. You should fill them with spackle and paint the wall before hanging the new shelves. This will give you a nice look when it's all done!

Our laundry room closet is deserving of an upgrade. We are using the space for storage and the shelving is too tall for my reach. This closet system allows me to be able to reach everything I need without using a ladder. Our outdated dark shelves in that closet date the room back to the 1980's. So this unit is an upgrade for little money. The directions included are very easy to follow and the pieces are well designed to fit the space perfectly. This is a heavy duty closet system and there are various ways to install based on your closet size and shape. The shelving tower measures just under 72 inches which is perfect for my laundry room. This is a great improvement to my everyday storage space within a room that I used every day.

The final assembled unit is good but the boxes did not include the proper shelves. Customer service took the request and sent the right ones about 10 days later delaying my assembly. I gave then 3 stars because the quality of the shelving is good but the quality control of packing the right parts is poor.

I purchased the Style+ 25 in. W White Hanging Wood Closet Tower, and the first two units were damaged, one I was able to assemble and use. The second one had to be returned. The third one was damaged. I am awaiting the fourth one. Please either update shipping packaging or delivery method. Once all the pieces are good, the assembly and usability of product is as advertised and expected.

It arrived sooner than expected.

Definitely a must buy to finish off the ClosetMade storage unit. No need to buy cleats as the shelf comes with it.

Easy to mount. The area I used it for was pretty small. Used hacksaw to make the rod shorter for a custom fit. Turned out amazing

Nice brushed nickel bar that is adjustable

I used this rod in my laundry room to hang dry clothing. It serves the purpose well.

For the price, I expected better quality but out of 5 top shelf kits purchased, 4 had chips at the corners due to mishandling and inadequate foam to protect the product. The one board that I kept reluctantly had wavy lamination on the front face.
