In terms of aesthetics, this retro step stool is adorable. I just enjoy looking at it so much that in spite of what I am about to say, I would buy this anyway. It was very easy to assemble. I did it myself. The only thing that I wish had been incorporated into its design, is to have the two steps on a hinge the way the stools were made in the “olden days“. I use it as a stepstool, and the way the steps slide out, they don’t feel as stable as they would if they were literally attached to the stool itself. But I love it. It’s a keeper.

Substantial chair/step. Directions for assembly very understandable with helpful and useful hints. A bit downsized from the 1950’s version and the stool top is no longer the third step. I needed this item for use at my work bench in my man cave. The steps allow easier access to my upper storage shells. Fantastic! Would recommend and I would buy again.

The vinyl has began to peel onnthe back of chair part. I have had it less than one month. This is toi pricey for this poor quality.

Took me 2 hours to put together, probably wouldn’t have been so long if I had read the directions carefully. Love the color and is sturdy.

This chair/step stool is perfect and fits perfectly where we intended. The steps go higher than our 2-step stool and have the back rail for balance. I have a balance problem and need something to put my hand on for a sense of balance. The seat part is great for sitting while cooking something that requires a little more time. The color is great and my 11-year old granddaughter also loves it when she comes over, which is an additional plus.

It was almost exactly as I remembered from the originals. The color and design were perfect. It was easy to assemble. It is sturdy and works like it should. The one problem is that it is a lot smaller than expected; great for kids or very small women. It could be a few inches wider and deeper.

Not sturdy, didn’t realize how unstable and unbalanced this would be until I put it together. Purchased it as a seat for my grandchild however it is not safe. Wish I could return. Nothing like the one I grew up with.

The stool is cute but not quite as sturdy as the one I remember from my childhood. The color is a little more yellowish than pictured. (Not actually yellow but more toward the greens than blues. The quality control on the product was not great. This is not the fault of HD. Both of the legs on the step were oriented the same way when they should have been mirror images. This meant the screw holes were on the outside of one of the sides so it could not be constructed properly. At first, the manufacture would not agree to send me the correct part and said I would need to dismantle it and return it to HD. When I complained that I should not have to spend time deconstructing it, trying to get it back into the box and driving to HD because they made a mistake, they agreed to send me a new one. So, all is good now!

Not as good as the old vintage chairs like this, but still awesome. Brings back memories.

I love my stool. I use it all the time in my kitchen to reach high cabinets. I use it to get to things I cannot reach, it’s been super helpful for me.

Steps are too small. Seat too small. Height is too short. I returned the stool.

Yes’ this worked in the small kitchen. It was little confusing to put together. No instructions in package but with some time we got it to work. Nice and stable and true to color ...baby blue

I was kind of surprised that I had to put it together, but that was okay. The unit does not seem to be as well made as I remember from 50+ years ago, but it will serve the purpose intended. There is a bit of a cushion in the seat, which the old ones did not have. ;)

Very sturdy and well built. Assembly took longer than anticipated but orderly directions were easy to follow.

Somewhat rickety. Stairs don't tuck in smoothly. Hardly big enough for an average-sized adult to sit. My child loves to sit on it while at the counter, but doesn't use the stairs for a stool because they require patience. However, the retro vibe can't be beat.

Arrived on time and in perfect condition. Assembly was fairly easy using a screw gun. Looks great, just like the one my Grandmother had in her kitchen when i was young.

We love these chairs, however we were a little disappointed the back of both(2) chair have small pin hole in them already, after less then week

Sturdy, and functional. Absolutely looks like my childhood stool! Love it!
