Bought this item a little over 3 months ago. Filled the chain oil as directed and it's been sitting in a climate controlled part of my house. Took it out to use for the first time. The thing leaks oil throughout the device. Into / through the motor, in the handle, all over. Of course Dewalt says you have to ship it (on your dime) to a service center to fix (on your dime). Avoid this piece of hot garbage. Photo is the next morning showing how all the chain oil leaked out of it.

This is an upgrade from my normal 5ah and I’ve found that the 6ah flexvolt runs WAY longer than traditional 5amp. Used today with my drill and 1/2” bit 5 inches deep no problem. Had to drill 12 holes, battery still at 3 bars after all that. Very satisfied.

Last a lot longer as expected, really makes a big difference in the workplace.

Sparks started flying from motor after using it for 30 mins will be returning Other than burning out I really liked it cuts like butter but defect motor sparks . Other reviews mentioned the motor having sparks coming out .... so has a defect for sure

I have used chainsaws for 40 years and heated with wood for the first 10 of them when we lived in an oak woods. I am the guy that reads the manual, studies the diagrams, learns about the tool before I use it. It's just smart and safe, right? Tried it for 30 minutes, it worked OK. Drained the chain and bar oil as recommended. A couple days later, filled it with high quality bar and chain oil again and a few minutes into the second cut the automatic oiler failed. I knew because of the smoke and the smell. This damages both the chain and the bar and it's dangerous. The reviews I had read were OK; I really wanted to like this saw. However, I'll be returning it and the extra batteries I purchased for it. I own other DeWalt tools because typically their quality is great. This saw? Nope.

This saw is powerful, but I have had to return 2 of them. The first saw was running good for about 2 or 3 hours of cutting down saplings. Then the chain started flying off the bar. The bolt and washer that keeps the chain from coming off fell out while cutting. The 2nd one I bought was just as powerful as the first. Up in New York preparing for winter I got about 20 hours of cutting up logs for splitting before going down to Kentucky to clear a tree stuck between oil tanks. Cut the tree down and cut it into 3 pieces when the motor made a weird noise and a cloud of smoke came out of it. The chainsaw stopped working after that. I would recommend this to any and everyone 13 or older male, female, or what ever you call yourselves. Quick and easy to use. The average person won't be able to run this saw as hard as I did. I have 8 flexvolt batteries and have converted completely to the Flexvolt line.

I am a sawyer that clears hiking and mountain biking trails, And also heat my home with wood. For the average home owner this would be a perfect saw. but is not designed to replace a gas chainsaw especially for hours of use like firewood processing. its build quality and strength are not up for continuous use. I purchased this to primarily clear blowdown on trails. This is where electric really shines. I can stop cut out a log and put the saw back in my backpack in a fraction of the time it would take my gas saws. and because there is no hot exhaust It wont burn my pack or other gear, and because its quieter i can us it (responsibly) around children and other trail users without issue. as AVE and others on youtubers have pointed out the chain tensioner is a bit weak so time will tell how long it will last me. I remove around a dozen trees every week with this saw so we'll see! have used it for about 3 months of continuous use so far

Used it twice and it cut down relatively large trees. Let it set over the winter and now it's dead. The battery shows a full charge but the tool wont work.

Like so many fine products this one has a fatal flaw design. The chain oil filler cap is recessed. It is oily and collects sawdust. No matter how I try to clean the sawdust away before removing the cap, there is always sawdust there. No matter how hard I try to clean before fill, I always seem miss some. I figure over time enough sawdust will get into the oil reserve and clogg the auto oiler.

Have used it for a year. Works as advertised. Used it for clearing some hedgerows. Very convenient if working alone when you need to put the saw down numerous times when clearing the cut items. Unlike a gas saw, you don't have to shut it off and turn it on numerous times. I've used it all day in temperatures down to 10 F. So good cold weather performance. While not a heavy day of sawing, it was used on and off for 6 hours and was still at 3 out of 3 lights on power with the 3 amp hour battery. Did not charge overnight and used the next day somewhat less. Stayed at 2 lights out of 3 on charge. Cuts as quickly as a gas saw. In the summer I used it to cut down and cut up a couple 8" diameter pines around the house. And also a day of clearing hedgerows. Has never run out of power. My only complaint is that there is no an option to order it with the 6 amp hour battery instead of the 3. So if you do need the extra capacity, and I will at some point, I'll have to spend another $100 for that. I suspect if it was packaged with the 6 ah bat instead of the 3 ah it could be sold for just an extra $50. I am really getting tired of all these power tool companies selling the tools with low end proprietary batteries as a way to force you to buy a higher capacity battery which only they make and which they can thus extort an exorbitant price for. That is the reason I gave this a 4 star instead of 5.

I Purchased this tool about 2 weeks ago to cut up railroad tires, it ran out of battery life after about 15mins. Chain came off its track twice since ...Next time I will go with GAS. This item did not meet my expectations...

Great for Occasional Use or Around the House Projects The saw was powerful and comparable to a gas saw. No complaints about the design/performance. Also, it is lightweight and reasonably quiet. HOWEVER - The battery life is about 15-20 cuts on an average size tree. Not as advertised and disappointing. So if you're looking for tool to cleanup the yard this is perfect. Anything more and you should consider another saw.

For a non-gas chain saw, it has good power and the battery life is very good. Comes in handy for all our utility cutting needs, where a table saw application is not an option.

This is the perfect small tree trimming chainsaw. Starts right up and cuts easily and quickly. It uses the same 60v max batteries that my other Flexvolt tools use.

it's nice to have long lasting battery for saws and impact tools plus i the isn't much heavier than 3 ah or 4 ah

Tried it out this weekend to clear some small trees and it worked great. No gas and oil to mess with. Also have the 20v hedge trimmers. Makes a great pair together.

This large, heavy battery fits a variety of Dewalt tools from 20-60 volts. Have tried it on my 20 volt drills as well as on my 60 volt saw and it works perfectly on all. Fast charge in about an hour. Keeps going a long time, exceeding the 20 volt batteries that came with the drills. Take one type of battery to the job site for use in all your Dewalt Flex tools. No more keeping up with extra batteries for each and every tool. This is a one size fits all that actually works as intended. Charger cooling fan is rather noisy.

I need an extra battery for my Dewalt 60V Cordless Circular Saw to have a backup when the original battery that came with the saw. One great feature is that being FLEXVOLT Battery pack it changes voltage when you change tools. To a 20 Volt Max tools. This FLEXVOLT battery powers the new line of 60-Volt Max Brushless tools and 120-Volt Max Brushless tools. This pack is also backwards compatible with 20-Volt Max tools and chargers. PLEASE NOTE that this requires a charger that can handle the 60V batteries. The 20V battery cannot handle the charging. Great battery.

At first I expected these new lithium-ion battery packs to be much more lightweight compared to the older 18V battery packs. These new packs are just as heavy, but they are more powerful and longer lasting, so that's the tradeoff. It's nice not having to worry about creating unwanted memory though, so charge away, preferably when the battery is depleted though, since there are a limited number of charges for each battery (the number of times you can charge should easily last for the life of the battery though, so don't worry if the battery isn't completely dead if that doesn't work best for you). The batteries have a push button that turns on LEDs (total of three) which indicate the power level left in each battery. A lot of the tools will now warn you when the battery level is getting too low, which is a nice improvement from the batteries/systems that we had to use before. Before, you had to wait for the tool to stop working. This battery is NOT bluetooth enabled, and I probably wouldn't consider it since using bluetooth will just kill the battery while you're trying to impress your co-workers. I really like the red protective shipping cap. It locks in place, which is perfect for when the batteries are not in use. The older 18V batteries had tiny red plastic caps that would easily be lost if used in any work environment. These new packs will hold up and appear to be very rugged. It's a good idea to have at least one spare battery so you can always keep one charging while you are using the other. If any tools require two batteries, then have two spares available with a dual charger to keep you going.

This 60 volt battery has me very excited to expand my cordless tool collection and will finally let cordless tools, especially saws, keep up with their corded counterparts. Anyone who has used DeWalt's cordless circular or reciprocating saws knows they pack a decent punch but they don't have much of a runtime. This battery tackles that in two different ways. There are extremely powerful 60 volt versions of these tools available but unfortunately I haven't had the funds to add any of those to my collection yet. However, this battery also works with newer 20 volt tools as well, and so far I've seen runtimes of 3-4 times as long from my circular and reciprocating saws compared to the 20v battery. These new batteries are bigger and heavier than the 20v battery but they're really similar in size to the older 18v batteries. For the additional runtime it's well worth the added bulk. They also charge from the standard 20v charger, so you don't need to spend extra money upgrading to a new one. I'd highly recommend picking up this battery whether you're looking to add more powerful tools or just make your 20v saws last long enough on a charge to be useful in larger projects.

This is a great battery sytem. It's powerful and lasts a long time before having to be re-charged. I love not having to drag a cord around with my battery operated circular saw. The downside is that the battery+charger is expensive. The good news is that once you buy the battery and charger the other Dewalt Flex volt tools are compatible and are value priced. If you use or need a circular saw, reciprocating saw or table saw, etc. this is a great system to go with because of the powerful battery system. I hope you find this helpful.

Right price, prompt delivery. Really like the flex volt feature. With an adapter I use it to power my older Dewalt cordless tools, eliminating the need to keep buying the older style batteries.

Good product but returning because the wacker and blower are too heavy for me personally but dewalt is a great powerful product

I bought this battery about 4 or 5 months ago. It will no longer charge. I called Dewalt, they said they won’t replace the battery but gave me a number to call, it was disconnected. I called Dewalt back, they gave me another number to a repair center. Called repair center, they said they don’t repair or replace batteries. I called dewalt a third time, they said that’s all they can do. Now I’m out the nearly 200 dollars I spent less than 6 months ago on the battery with no warranty from Dewalt.
