    Extremely disappointed
Wanted this shipped to home, but when I chose that option, the price went up by close to $30. So I had it shipped to the store. It was later than promised. I called and the representative cancelled that order and sent one to my home. The saw arrived though later than I needed and it cut one 3 inch MDF trim board before it died. It would not run after. There may be a good explanation for what is in the picture, but the saw was scarred under the guard. Made me skeptical that it was new.

          Dewalt is the best!
Need I say anything but you get a quality product from Dewalt! This is why every Carpenter is equipped with Dewalt tools, what's going to be interesting is will these professionals switch to batteries or the duel power products. I will not make a purchase unless I ask a carpenter about tool selection first even if I have to flag them down!

            Loving this Saw
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I bought this Saw about a month ago and so far I'm loving it. It's definitely a step up from using a hand saw and miter box. The 12" blade may have been a bit over kill for my uses, but I wanted something that I could grow into as I became more experience with woodworking. My first project was to build a miter saw work stand that would fit on a couple of saw horses. Then I decided I wanted to place that on its on rolling cart so I could move it around the garage "shop" easier, so that was the immediate next project. This Saw had made my projects much easier to work on, and I've already completed some nice outdoor furniture pieces. The blade doesn't appear to deflect any, makes cuts though 2x8's easily in one chop. I have cut some 1x10's and 1x12's, I just had to flip the board over to finish the cuts. The angle is easy to set and has several positive stops on the most common angles used. The one thing that has caused me a little confusion is that the bolt securing the blade is reverse thread. One just had to watch that when switching blades so that they don't over tighten and brake the bolt when they mean to be loosening it. Or, stand there trying to get the bolt started for several seconds by twisting the wrong way (guilty). Overall sends to be a good sturdy saw. Hopefully will last me for quite a while.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I had this saw in my old shop and l used it all the time. Moved and now in a new location and this was my first purchase to start woodworking again. Have the folding stand which makes a very stable combination.

It comes with 32T blade. I bought 80T blade for my baseboard installation project, $54, it is kind of expensive, but works really well, cutting is very clean. I don't see any problem with this saw.

Great solid saw, the quality you would expect from Dewalt. Handles all of my DIY jobs with easy. Out of the box it is ready to go, I was making cuts in just a few minutes. Folds neatly to fit in my garage, it is made well but light enough to move around if needed. Been accurate for my jobs, I would highly recommend for anyone looking for a quality saw at a great price.

My 27yr old dewalt 705 finally had an issue. switch went out. too expensive to replace the switch (now because some engineer thought it best to change the mounting holes of the switch, you have to buy a new handle also! ) anyways, had that saw a long time before it broke down, so decided to just replace it with the 715. Not real happy with the quality of this. Very cheap feel to the saw. The blade guard for some reason wobbles side to side 1" each way (no way to tighten) I'm a carpenter and use my saw daily and I see the blade hitting the guard down the road. For this reason I will be returning this saw. They also shrunk the table by 1" my old table was 5 1/2" deep. now it's 4 1/2" deep. Think I'll go Ridgid they have a better warranty anyways.

I needed a safe and accurate miter saw for my wood projects. Initially I purchased a Craftsman compact slider, but honestly that thing was unsafe. I next decided on a Hitachi. In the flesh the Hitachi looks ok, but the huge belt drive head made me uneasy. The Hitachi had a laser, a fine-tooth blade and was $50 cheaper but I was still nervous about reports of the belt drive shredding the head assembly. I asked the salesman about the blade included with the DeWalt 715 and he could not find any info, but a coworker said a fine tooth was included. There was also a deal that included a folding steel DeWalt saw stand for free. Neither product was made in the US. The salesman said I could get a laser or light system from DeWalt, so I decided to purchase the 715. Upon getting it home I unboxed it and checked the setup. All parts were assembled correctly and the blade was straight and true to the base. The blade is a GP style, not the fine tooth one I was told. If you are furniture making, then you will need a better blade. I tested a few cuts and while the cuts were true, the unit threw sawdust everywhere. Eventually, I was able to make a vacuum attachment using PVC pipe, but the unit still managed to throw a lot of sawdust. A bigger dust inlet and proper sized outlet (compatible for shopvacs) would greatly help this saw. There were no holdown clamps included, so I immediately ordered some from eBay. For a 12 inch saw at this price point there should be basic safety clamps included. I also noticed that the DeWalt laser and LED light systems no longer fit the 3rd gen 715. Instead of engineering a new system, DeWalt has chosen to discontinue the laser/LED accessory line. If your saw doesn't have a light from the factory, then don't expect DeWalt to supply one later. I generally drop the blade down so I can visually confirm where it will cut but a projected line would help to determine the full cut and kerf. By not allowing for this, DeWalt is designating the 715 as a rough cut saw. Since the 715 can make precise cuts, I feel DeWalt is doing a disservice to the project by not designing a light system for it. So far, I have made two outdoor chairs, a mailbox stand and various other projects with the saw. It cuts easily through 2x4 and 4x4 lumber. I can cut 4x6's if I cut and flip. The saw cuts well on my bench or on my driveway when I'm dealing with long heavy lumber. I have not used the “free” stand yet. The included blade is fine for my projects though it will shred the back side of my cuts if I go too fast. I would suggest marking the box with the included blade info. In summary, this is a good saw but I can see hints of trouble for the DeWalt company (now owned by Stanley Black & Decker). The tools are now made overseas and frequently arrive out of alignment. Frequent model changes mean accessories are not included and standard accessories won't fit anymore. Model changes make the products cheaper to manufacture but not "better" for the consumer. Since the prices have increased, this means less value to the consumer. Hopefully I won't have to use the DeWalt warranty anytime soon. I assume it's still as good as it was in the past and things haven't changed. I can't comment on warranty, but will try to amend my review if I require warranty support.

As you might expect, any of this brand's products deliver in quality and durability for the most part. This saw is no exception. It was bought to replace an aged and well used/abused similar model. The old one is being donated because it still works, but when you consider the price and need, updating your collection is a reality and it is nice to know that comparable products are still available.

This saw is used commercially by many people. It takes a lot of abuse. It's a replacement for a double-bevel Dewalt that we used for three years. Tuff saw. Light weight and easy to adjust. One problem, the louvers in the guard let debris fly through.

                    Dewalt miter saw is awsome
This Dewalt compound miter saw is easy to use, has super safety features, is accurate, and is light enough to move to the work site. I am using it to install a replacement composte deck. I sure glad I stepped up to Dewalt quality.

                    great saw!
Percect saw for me a diy'er. Was going to get the 10" but decided on the 12" instead as it can easily cut thtough a 4x4. This saw makes miter cuts, bevel cuts and compound cuts. Its a single bevel so it only leans to the left which is fine for my needs and i can always flip my boards for other cuts needed. All in all im very pleased with this saw and highly recommend it to anyone!

                        Great saw! Poor dust collection.
Great saw! Smooth gliding table & accurate cuts and angles! Very strong and sturdy. Dust collection is quite poor. I feel that Dewalt could have done much better in this area. Only collects about 50% of the dust.

                        Works as expected!
I've been waiting for one of these Dewalt saws to go on sale and I finally pulled the trigger when I saw this one was. I've only done a couple of small jobs with it so far, (chair rail, wall frames) but have been very pleased with it so far. I did install an 80-tooth blade since I was doing finish work, and both blades work well. Good, clean cuts, minor blemishes, but I attribute that to the blade. Very pleased overall. Would buy again.
