Beware! Two Different Mulches in Various Bags
I have used this mulch for years. This year I bought 80 bags. After opening the first few bags I noticed that some bags had fine red mulch and others had VERY chunky brown mulch. It's bad enough that the bags are now 25% smaller (2 cu. ft bags up to this year, now 1.5 cu ft.) for the same price, but this is ridiculous. Rather than try to sort them out I returned them all to home depot in my trailer. It was a bummer, but customer service was outstanding in refunding.

mulch wasnt mulching
Bought red mulch second time soni was expecting it to look good full piece decent size inside the bag but there was like five bags that look so wet there was barely sticks inside i look like this on the picture

Red is red not black dirty brown
I picked up 20 bags of the mulch on Friday
4/26/24. Got up early Saturday morning to do some yard work and what a disaster. My yard looks horrible. This mulch looks like it was sitting in muddy water. I agree with the person whose review is similar to mine Home Depot has no shame in selling this bad product. I only got 20 bags but some folks got pallets of this stuff. HOME DEPOT I AM CALLING YOU OUT!!

NOT RED - MOST BAGS LOOK BROWN - WASTE OF TIME HAVING IT DELIVERED
I had 50 bags of this delivered as it was on sale so even with the delivery charge it was still a decent price. Or so I thought. I got the pallet delivered this morning and even the "best" bags barely look red - more like brown. Many bags are a dark brown color and there's a large inconsistency between bags. Not going to even attempt to put this down. I'm having them pick it up and getting a refund. Terrible quality - how is this normally $4 a bag...if you're going to buy this, I'd say go to the store and pick it out yourself if anything. NOT red mulch
I had such a great experience with purchasing this mulch from Home Depot however disappointed once I started using it. Definitely NOT Red. Bag says Red more brown than anything. What a disappointment I hate shopping online ☹️

This is my favorite Earthgro mulch
Overall, I've mainly used red mulch in my Florida yards and actually prefer the 1.5 Scotts Earthgro Color Advantage. I made two trips to HomeDepot to pickup 12 and then 15 bags of this mulch. The young man loading the back of my Jeep seemed to pull from two pallets, probably keeping them both at similar heights. In my front yard area, I put down 18 of the bags and was noticing several colors and not particularly red but more brownish.

Red mulch is not red
I bought 20 bags of the Scott's red mulch on sale. The bags said RED. The mulch looked a bit dark, but the bags were really wet at Home Depot. I spread out the mulch. It doesn't look RED I thought, but maybe when it dries. Well after 5 hours in the Florida sun, it's not RED. It's very brown. Not even close to the Red shown in the ad or other manufacturer's red mulch. Great, now I have to go and get 20 more bags mulch to do the other beds, because it looks kind of stupid having some beds with red mulch and some with Scott's which is definitely not RED.

Bought 5 bags from same pallet 2 were red 3 were burnt black returned that day and bought a different brand so much for a 12 yr color when it didn't last in the bag

Bought 40 bags, the "Red" color mulch is more brown than the advertsied red. Dissappointed because I've used Scotts I've the past with gret results.Would of been a hassle taking all 40 bags back after half of them been split open for application and needed the project completed before the rain.

Color hold dark red. Bag had a lot of moisture inside some had mold. Late season might be an explanation.

Terrible product!
This stuff is AWFUL! I needed mulch to finish a project. The brand I started with was sold out and since there were 1000's of bags of Scott's red mulch in stock (no surprise now), I decided to purchase the 20 bags I needed hoping for a close match with what I had already put down. Absolutely not!! It is not red AT ALL, as you can see. I had to double check the bag label. It looks brown and doesn't even have that wonderful wood smell. Now I have to return 20 bag of trash mulch! So frustrating!!

Disappointed
We needed a lot of mulch and it was on sale 5 for $10. When I went to checkout the sales associate said that the special mulch was sold out but was selling this mulch for the same price. We purchased 30 bags of the red mulch. When loading it up I noticed that the special was for 2 cubic feet and this was 1 1/2 cubic feet. We got the mulch home and the first bag we opened was almost brown it was wet so thought it would dry red it didn’t. 10 bags were moldy. A special isn’t a special.
