I installed the first ten of these screws on another house about 3.5 years ago, and they're still doing good; I see them every spring when I clean the gutters. I recently bought this box of 25 to replace some of the spikes on my house that are getting loose. Some tips on installing these: Use a drill with a good battery. You don't have to use an electric impact, but having a modern battery (NiMH or Li-Ion/lithium) helps. The first ten of these screws I ever installed were with a 10-year-old drill that had really tired NiCd batteries. I charged the batteries up all the way, but the drill still had trouble driving them in fully; I had to finish up a few of them with the square bit in a ratchet wrench. My newer drill, with lithium batteries, does just fine. If you're working from a ladder, put the ladder fairly close to the old spike you want to replace, so you don't have to lean over too far. You need to push fairly hard on the drill to keep the bit in the screw, and that's hard to do if you are leaning way over with the drill in one hand. It may help to cut a chunk of wood to the inside width of your gutter, and put that in the gutter, before you take the old spike and ferrule out. When your ladder is close to the spike, and you take the old ferrule out, the gutter tends to bend towards the house under the weight of your ladder. It will spring back into shape when you take the ladder away, but it makes it harder to force the new ferrule in between the front and back walls of the gutter. Do use the clutch on your drill. If you leave it set on "drill" (no clutch), and you drive the screw all the way down, it's possible to bend the ferrule under the screw. Don't ask me how I know. Keep the old ferrules (the tubes that the screws go through) around until you get done with the whole job. You sometimes find a spot where the old ferrule is just a little bit shorter, and the new one won't fit between the front and back of the gutter very easily; re-using the old one from that spot fixes the problem. It's also handy if you accidentally smash a new ferrule, as above. Sometimes you get a spot where the wood behind the gutter is too rotten for even this screw to "bite" in the old spike hole. The 100% correct thing to do in this situation is pull the whole gutter down to replace the wood. What is actually going to happen is that you're going to drill a new hole in the gutter a few inches over from the old one, and install the screw there. If you do that, I find it works best to use a regular drill bit to drill through the front of the gutter first, *then* install this screw; the point of the screw is enough to get through the back wall of the gutter on its own. All of the old spikes I pulled out were aluminum, and the bent ones went in the recycling right away. I took a few of the good spikes, cut them down a bit, filed a new point on them, and used them to hang up bird nest boxes on trees; they're long enough that you can leave an inch or so sticking out, to allow for future tree growth.

The gutter screws worked very well to secure the loose guttering where the nails were no longer gripping into the wood joists. Had to start the screws in the outside gutter holes using a drill, then back it out, get the spacer in place, then put the gutter screw back in again using the drill.

Exceeded my expectations. I've had so many Robertson head screws strip the head l was concerned when I saw these. Every one of them went in without stripping. A few went in so hard they stopped my impact driver, but never stripped a head.

They work really well and come with the aluminum covers to protect them, but mostly for spacing. I would like them a little longer sometimes, but they work fine. They screw into the wood and hold quite well… Overall good product, comes with driver bit too.

These Gutter Screws work great. They come in a well packed box and even have a bit for use with a cordless drill to drive the spikes into the roof line. No more gutter spikes working their way out anymore after you install these. Highly recommend.

Average quality. The screws are much larger in diameter than the original fasteners for my gutter. Accordingly, I had to pre-drill each hole before I could install these screws. The metal is pretty soft so some of the heads stripped out before they were fully installed.

A decent product, BUT it is made for 5" (top measurement inside the lip) gutters, and they do NOT offer the same product for 6" (top measurement inside the lip) gutters, which appears to be the 'standard' in central FLORIDA (and my home). So measure twice, order once when it come to this product.

After using this item I don't know why we still use gutter nails? I would probably give this item 5 stars but I have only had them installed for about a month and haven't had too much heavy rains lately. So far so good though and beyond easy to install.
