bulbs worked for about three weeks then when dusk came it started flashing and never worked after that, the same with the second one

Thank you for your feedback, if the bulb is blinking on/off, it might that photo-eye is picking up some type of reflection that is causing the bulb to flicker. you can rotate the sensor slightly.
And make sure the fixture is not connected to an external Photocell, Motion Sensor, or Timer.
You can take a black Sharpe pen and draw a thin line on the photo eye. (This should be done last). in the mean time feel free to send us an email for assistance, you can reach us at info@feit.com or visit our website for trouble-shooting tips and self-help options.

Lasted maybe two years...
Our neighborhood is older and doesn't have street lamps. For safety, I installed one of these.
The light bulb works pretty well except on foggy or overcast days... on those days, it doesn't seem to go off in the morning, but I fix that sometimes by manually turning the light bulb off and on.
My biggest complaint is that the light bulb lasted maybe two years. So I paid $3.50/year for this (bulb was only around $7 when I bought it) and now I have to replace it again?
