Im satisfied with the operation of this unit. The things that could make this better is a display that indicates the smount of vacuum. Also my unit does not seem to pump out the air verify fast.

This works well but the arms that pull the clear cover tight break after a couple years of moderate use. This has happened to two different 5200s I've owned. Steer clear of this model!!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Got an upgraded model as a Christmas present and have packaged well over 100 pounds of wild game meat since we got it. I didn't realize that there was an automatic sealing feature when a new bag was cut! It saved me TONS of time and effort !

Horrible equipment bought this bar two months ago. I’ve used it. Maybe 7 times now I won’t see you. Just horrible.

This is the best food saver ever, seals fast and easy and stays sealed for months

Reading some of the one starred reviews and I’m a little baffled of those saying it isn’t easy or struggled with pushing down on the bar . When researching I found it to be the best value for all it offers. Convenient, extremely easy to use. Read one review that claimed while pushing down on bar the machine went flying across the counter. Lol really? I hav 3 teenagers with little or no experience with vacuum sealers. All 3 in a matter of minutes were using it without issue. I mean they were sealing the bag on one end , cutting it to size then filling bags up with Italian beef, 30 lbs of raw chuck roasts putting bag in drip seal closing it up pressing the vacuum seal bar with ease. Funny never seen the machine move from its stationary spot. Advice to those with the 5200 vacuum sealer flying across counter, “DON’t PUSH SO HARD!” Lol. Just slight gentle push on both ends starts the machine. Oh and push down not out . Easiest and quickest not to mention very intuitive Mach to seal anything you want. Even bread. I figured out by using my common since how to vacuum seal bread with this machine. Put in vacuum seal drip close window push the bar (lightly) as it starts to suck watch and when it pulls tight. Hit cancel tap seal button and there you have it perfect bread vacuum sealed without being flattened. The ability to do everything is there. You just need common sense and some thought behind what you want to accomplish. Vacuum sealed 50 lbs of raw chuck roast. 30 lbs of home made Italian beef and 60 buns of Italian style bread. In a few hours. Great product.

I paid a premium for this unit then found out that if there is any moisture in the sealing area, the seal will be faulty.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] got this for christmas a couple years back and i hated it the first time i used it. i thought “no problem its just a weird design and you have to learn to use it.” I STILL HATE IT. worst design ever. if the bag is too short, you have to hold it while it vacuum/seals it. didnt seal properly? that sucks. you have to do the whole vacuum again instead of just the sealing part. i hate this design so much and want a different one so badly. DONT GET THIS ONE.

This is replacing the same type of sealer we had for 15 years.

Excellent machine, but it takes a bit of practice to use it properly (hence the four rather than 5 stars). Read the directions thoroughly and perhaps a couple of times with a dry run before attempting to use it for real. Once I got the hang of how to use it, it's easy and very effective ... but getting the hang of it is not intuitive.

For the life of me, I just can’t seem to make this thing work. I’ve watched two YouTubes and read carefully the instruction sheet and as far as I can get is the bottom seal, it goes to pot after that. Forget cutting, cutter won’t slide, stops at bag edge. Only way to cut is using scissors and it doesn’t like apparently, the jagged edge. I’m at a loss—toy is smarter than me! Must find another method to preserve foods for the future—this one isn’t the answer.

Worked good the first 3 times I used it, then it stopped working properly. The vacuum function shuts off after 1 second then it seals. Can't get it to work. What a waist of money!

Horror be machine with a terrible design-do you have to hold all of your food up 5 inches to be able to seal it even if it seals maybe one out of 10 tries. They need to bring back the designs were your food actually days on the countertop while your sealing designs those work. See you end up spending a ton of money I’m gonna sheen that is just worthless and takes up a lot of space.

This is my third model like this, 1 I gave away, the 2nd one died but owed me nothing, I use it often, buying in bulk and breaking it down into serving sizes, I really like this model!

I just purchased this foodsaver and i am already in love with it! It's user friendly and counter top friendly. I was able to storage about six bags of meat with in minutes.

Do not purchase this product. It’s nice when it’s working. However, it appears the accessory tool has a life of about 3 months…then the vacuum gives out!!! Purchased 1. Vacuum sealed bags place in refrig didn’t last AT ALL. Then hose stopped vacuuming after 3 months. Purchased a BRAND NEW replacement. Now having the SAME exact problem with vacuum sealer. Literally stopped working overnight

Had food saver for many years and it finally conked out. Replaced it with FM5200 and now regret it. I am 83 so it is a challenge to hold bag and hit bar with both hands to seal bag. Keep it simple. Oh to have my old machine back in working order.

Been a customer for years. I consider this the best sealer I have owned.

I bought this to replace an old one that stopped sealing, after years & years of use. I really like Foodsavers but this model is a bust. You have to hold the bags up to vacuum and seal or the edges will flip out of the channel. Also, any least bit of moisture shuts it down and you have to wait until the flashing lights turn off (not a pause - minutes) I'm now freezing veggies THEN trying to vacuum & seal. I also have to have a container in front of the unit to hold the bag up towards the vacuum channel.

We have used this sealer for several years. It is great for sealing all our garden vegetables & freak meat.

I've had a FoodSaver for many years and always loved them until this model. It is extremely hard to hold the bag in and have to push the bar with both hands. But I can't replace it until this one completely doesn't work anymore. Half the time now it doesn't even suck out the air and it's only a couple of years old. Is there anything that can be done to make it work better?

I love my food sealer but it has two little plastic pieces that hold the bag maker tray closed while it seals the next bag. These pieces broke and now I have to hold down the the tray while it’s is sealing instead of filling the bag that I have already made. I wis there were some way to fix this instead of buying a whole new machine when the rest of this one still works. Disappointing.

This model is excellent!! My old foodsaver broke and the company replaced it with this model. What an upgrade! This is my third foodsaver and it is the best by far. I use it everyday. Can not say enough good things about this company. I had called them o see if I could get a replacement part for my broken model and they sent me a brand new machine!!

Our last food saver finally gave up the ghost and we bought this one as our counter space is limited. What a mistake!! It takes four hands to activate the vacuum and half the time it does not get the air out. Thr bag had to be placed very critically while holding it up AND keeping it taut so there are no leaks. The old method of automatically starting when the bag was inserted was so much better. It us really sad to see the design go backwards.

I've had this item for a while and it does an amazing job I like how it is all set up to cut and seal the bag for me as i got to suck and seal my products in the bags!

I have had this item for over 4 YEAR'S, not one problem. Easy to make bags, saves time and money, could not be more satisfied with this product. JW

I have been using a FoodSaver for years. I use it almost every day. This FoodSaver has a serious flaw. It's very difficult to hold a package and push the bar to seal. I have had many FoodSavers and have never had this kind of problem. I thought it would get easier as I got used to it, but it hasn't. My other FoodSavers have been very user friendly. I would love to have one of them back.
