This FRANKLIN BRASS 42 IN. X 1-1/4 IN. CONCEALED SCREW ADA-COMPLIANT GRAB BAR IN PEENED STAINLESS was ordered for a 60+ year old shower, which is quite large especially given the age of the house. I looked up on line and the recommended height to the top of the bar is between 34" to 36", I ended up at 33" which seemed comfortable to use either standing or sitting for both myself & my wife. I've installed about two dozen of these bars for family & friends and this was pretty straight forward. It doesn't come with the plastic anchors (or molly bolts or what ever you need for your install) I used the Blue plastic anchors which are for #8-10 screws, it does come with stainless steel screws. The bar itself is 1 1/4" in diameter, which s a little bit smaller than most ADA bars, but to us it's much more comfortable in your hand than the larger bars. We like the peened or rougher surface as it's less likely that one would loose their grip on the bar unlike a polished chromed one. The only thing we'll see as time goes by, will be how hard will it be to keep clean. I'd suggest making sure all soap is rinsed off the bar before getting out of the shower each time it's used. I would also note that the full length of the bar is not 42" but actually 45" with the mounts. In our case we had the 3" to spare, but others may not. One last thought, I put a bead of 100% waterproof caulk around the top of the mounts as I have tile grout lines that prevent the cover from sealing to the wall & keeping out water. The FRANKLIN BRASS grab bar we received is the 42" model with peened stainless detail. This bar is ADA compliant and is designed to withstand some serious abuse without giving way under a load. The grab bar is also textured nicely to prevent slipping due to wet hands. Due to quality construction it actually exceeds ADA requirements and is suitable to withstand 500 pounds of force. We have not quite yet decided where to install this nicely finished and quality crafted piece but we can be sure it will stay firmly where it is installed and will stay looking nice since the stainless steel will not rust or discolor. It takes up roughly 45 inches of wall space. Thanks!

We have sliding doors on our tub/shower enclosure and getting in and out can be a problem as there is nothing to hold onto. I recently installed the Franklin Brass 42 in. x 1-1/4 in. Concealed Screw ADA-Compliant Grab Bar in Peened Stainless vertically outside the shower to aid in the transition from tub to rug. The grab bar is made of stainless steel and has a textured surface that makes it easy to grip so that slipping potential is reduced. Since we were drilling through drywall into double 2 in. x 4 in. studs that have been there for 50 years we found the screws provided were soft and either broke or stripped the thread. Fortunately I had some 2 1/2 in. lag bolts that I was able to use and secure the unit. The unit is now well secured to the wall and does not budge. The grab bar is very nice material and is definitely worth every cent it costs.

Very functional stainless steel grab bar at a discount price. Installation was very easy due to its simple design. Just hold this bar up to a wall and mark the screw hole locations, drill, and screw it on. Then slide the cover plates down and snap in place. At 42 inches it probably won’t line up with any existing wall studs on 16 inch centers. But, if you are doing new construction or a remodel, I’d recommend installing some 2x6 backing boards so you can select the location and not be limited to the stud locations. Or make sure to use special grab bar wall anchors. When properly installed it will hold 500 pounds, that’s double what the ADA requires. The grab surface has a “peened” surface texture. This is a little rougher than smooth stainless steel, providing a better grip for your hand (See Photo). The screw cover caps can be snapped off for easy cleaning underneath them should soap scum build up. It comes with long screws and plenty of screw location holes in the end flange (See Photo). It is ADA compliant (Americans with Disabilities Act) so it can be used were ADA code compliance is required.

This 42 inch grab bar installed easily with a drill and hand tools, and looks great in the tub. 1-1/4 is the perfect diameter for a grab bar. A texturized or peened finish on the bar enhances your grip. I installed the grab bar on an angle, on the back wall of the shower; lower at the rear of the tub and higher towards the shower and tub controls, to provide for multiple hand hold positions. 6 Phillips head mounting screws are included, 3 for each side of the bar. After locating the wall studs, I drilled a pilot hole at each screw position and fastened the mounting plates to the wall using the provided screws, and then slide the decorative trim over the mounting plate to hide the screw heads. Installation was very easy and the installed grab bar is very sturdy and looks good, and only protrudes 2-1/2 inches from the shower wall. If properly installed, the bar is rated to support 500 lbs. The quality of this grab bar is excellent and the bar should last a lifetime. A worthwhile addition to any shower.

Support bars are extremely helpful for elderly people or others with knee or leg injuries. For the half-bath, I chose the Franklin Brass 42 in. x 1-1/4 in. Concealed Screw Grab Bar in Peened Stainless. The bar is sturdy and very functional, and the concealed screw design and stainless finish is very aesthetic. The textured finish also provides a firm grip. The grab bar is designed to be anchored into wood studs or a tile wall. It can be installed either vertically or horizontally, and hold up to 500 lbs if installed properly. The screws are concealed with a cover that provides a nice finished look. It’s important to pre-measure for stud locations if the grab is being mounted horizontally on a sheetrock wall. Once installed, the grab bar is very sturdy and works great.

This is an unbiased review that is unaffected by the fact that I received this product for free. As proof of impartiality, just click on my nickname and see the average of the ratings I have given over 300 reviews to date. I like the textured grip area of the bar to keep your hand from slipping off. I think it's the first time I have seen this but I am pretty sure it was available on other bars. I doubt the claim of being able to support 500 pounds of weight. It doesn't seem that rugged to me. Compared to another brand, I found this bar to be made of thicker and heavier material. The only real fault with it is that there is a large gap around the cover plate on the inside of the bend. I don't think it is needed for usability because another bar I have does not have that gap. Also the plate does not rest against the wall. Its at least 1/8" away. Installation was uneventful.

The Franklin Brass 42 in. x 1-1/4 in. grab bar is of high quality. It is made of Stainless steel which will not rust which is important if installing in a wet environment. I like that it has peened finish which helps give me a sure grip even when wet. I also like that the screws are concealed with one piece covers permanently mounted on the bar. It is ADA compliant and if properly mounted, can hold up to 500 lbs. Actually can be mounted at any location you may need assistance.

I really like this product. I have been installing other brands for years but this bar has features that make it above grade. I like the welded flange allot as other brands just roll the flange and is held on by friction. It comes with stainless screws and some basic instructions. Has a nice secure cover to hide the mounting flange. What I also noticed in comparison is the peened finish which will help with gripping in wet conditions. Lengths that are designed for 16 inch centered studs. ADA complaint if mounted correctly and will support up to 500 pound . Well this unit is going on a cart im making for a theater groups lighting equipment to help push or pull the crate anong. Not really designed for this but works perfect and is secure. I've used these for all kinds of carts in the past .

This Franklin Brass grab bar provides support and assistance to anyone who might need it. The Grab Bar is a must for any bathrooms, which are used by people with limited ability. The shipping was very fast and the bar well packaged. The installation was done without any problems whatsoever, since everything was provided. The peened stainless steel finish is gorgeous and I would strongly recommend this product to everybody.

The Grab Bars look great and appear to be made well. The white finish is great.

I had these professionally installed and they look fine. Only time will tell how well they hold up but I was pleased with how solid and sturdy they seemed when I opened the box.
