Ice Maker - the worst ever
The icemaker is slow to make cubes. Generally, puts out 30 cubes overnight. The ice tastes like chemicals and will not go away. We had this serviced - waterline flushed (no problem with the taste of the water) and had the icemaker flushed. The chemical taste will not go away. Totally useless and unhealthy. Is there a fix for this?

    Do not buy from Home Depot for installs!
    1. If you check "yes" for install, Home Depot makes you buy a water hook up kit. I paid for it, the HoDo install checklist clearly lists waterline requirements, the installers said they DON'T INSTALL WATERLINE. My hookup outlet is new professionally installed. 2. The fridge comes with the handles and doors off. The hinge bracket (3 screws was on the fridge). They refused to move the hinge bracket and install the handles on my desired side so they setup the HANDLES ON THE WRONG SIDE.

      A Few Challenges!
      Purchased dishwasher, stove, microwave and refrigerator around late June, 2023. When the refrigerator was installed, and the icemaker was setup, a connection problem with the hoses resulted in a flood in my kitchen. As a result, the refrigerator was not fully operational until the installer returned in August to do the final installation.

        We really like this new refrigerator. Due to the overhead cabinets, we were unable to purchase a taller unit. This one is the same size as our previous 25 year old refrigerator. The ice maker is smaller than our previous one; however, it makes all that the two of us need. Finger prints will be my only complaint, but we will make sure to use the appropriate cleaner.

          Both the freezer and refrigerator interiors are much smaller than the previous same size exterior model we had. That includes the ice maker department. The ice maker is much slower than our last unit. I thought I was buying the same size model as I had before. Very disappointed!

The icemaker will produce approximately 70-100 cubes in a 24-hour period, depending on the freezer compartment temperature, room temperature, number of door openings and other use conditioner. Tip: Low food load in the freezer can affect the production of ice. More food in the freezer allows temperatures to remain more stable. If you have questions, please let us know. We are sorry to hear that you are not satisfied with the shelf configuration, as well as the temperature control settings. If foods such as fruits and vegetables are freezing in the fresh food section of the refrigerator, this can be caused by several things. Here are some tips to help with the issue: First, check the controls. They should be set at "C" and "5" or "5" and "5". For models with a temperature control dial marked as Cold to Coldest, set the dial to the mid point between the words Cold and Coldest. The proper fresh food section temperature range is between 37 and 42 degrees Fahrenheit. The freezer should be between 0 and 7 degrees Fahrenheit. Since the cold air coming into the fresh food section originates in the freezer above, the rear of the top shelf will be the coldest spot in the fresh food area. Avoid placing delicate items that freeze easily on the back half of this shelf. If food is freezing in the produce (fruits and vegetables) pans or the meat/deli pan, it may be that the temperature controls are not set high enough. Since cold air naturally falls, the pans can get too cold if the refrigerator is not running long enough to maintain good air circulation. Adjust both controls up one notch.             Doesn't keep cool or consistent temps
            Doesn't cool as well as my old GE and is waay smaller. Don't love the new configuration of a super thin shelf on the bottom of the door for a whole row of short skinny condiments only, a large but not tall enough middle shelf that just into the one main usable shelf of the main fridge. Just weird and hard to fit much in here. My back top shelf will freeze yogurts put there while the bottom shelf will show 50 degrees when I put a thermometer in there. Not cool.

              The product came with some dents even though it was in the box. There is condensation inside the fridge, in the back wall. Otherwise, the fridge works fine as a 2nd unit in the garage.

                    At least it keeps food cold.
                    ICE cubes are small. Next time I will go with my husband and get PRINT LESS FREE stainless steel. Shelves could be longer. I've bonked my head several times on the freezer door reaching down for something.

                                            I bought this fridge after waiting 10 months for a different GE model. (a basic bottom freezer) This thing seems like it runs constantly and it's not very quiet. I wouldn't say it's loud, but it seems louder than other fridges. If you're sensitive to noise, I wouldn't put this in a kitchen that is near your reading or relaxing room. It's already making some weird squeaking noises when it first starts up and I've only had it a few weeks. Hopefully it doesn't get worse. No features for the money.

If you are worried about your unit's sound, please visit our GE Appliances website and search: REFRIGERATOR - UNUSUAL NOISE to determine if it is a normal sound or an unusual sound. Also, for refrigerators to maintain the proper temperature, the compressor will run much of the time. This makes them more energy efficient because the greatest amount of energy is used when the compressor cycles on as opposed to when the compressor is actually running. Factors such as the amount of food, blocked air vents, and frequency of door openings contribute to run time. We want you to have the best ownership experience and hope this helps!                                               Nice Fridge; wish it had a freezer light
                                              Well-made appliance. Wish it had a freezer light, but very few non-Bosch refrigerators come with a freezer light. Also a bit noisier than expected. But overall a very nice unit.
