It's important to note that the water filter should be replaced every six (6) months or after every 200 gallons of dispensed water to ensure optimal performance. If you prefer not to use a genuine GE Appliances water filter, a bypass plug must be used. If the plastic bypass plug was not supplied with your refrigerator or has been misplaced, one can be ordered at no charge by calling 1-800-432-2737.

Hello - Thanks for taking the time to write a review. We don't rate the sound level of our refrigerators or freezers, which means we are unable to provide a decibel level for while they are running. Newer refrigerators sound different from older models because they have more features and use newer technology. The keep the door open we recommend opening it more than 90 degrees. We also offer door stops for the refrigerator door. First, check to make sure that the Cooling system is not off. While we are delighted to hear how pleased you are with the internal design, lighting and appearance of your beautiful refrigerator, we are saddened to hear you're not pleased with the sound level or with the filtration system. We hope you'll accept our apologies for your disappointment and frustration. The filter on this unit does use an RFID chip. The technology the chip provides will shut down the water valve on the refrigerator should a leak be detected by the filter. If you prefer, you can call 1-800-432-2737 and request a bypass filter at no charge. This model specific filter will bypass the filtration system and allow the use of the water dispenser and ice maker. If you have not already done so, we'd recommend you have the refrigerator checked by an authorized servicer to ensure the sounds you're hearing are normal. You may schedule an appointment for service by calling our GE Appliances service at 1-800-432-2737.
