Avoid the agravation with something else
I bought this for a shower with a smaller opening and it fell several times even after tightening it as much as I could. The tightening mechanism is very unreliable. I was finally able to get it to stay, we'll see for how long. I'd rather break it in half, but then I couldn't take it back.

I bought these since I do not have any space...
I bought these since I do not have any space to hang up laundry after washing and/or drying. I put these up in the nearby doorways. They can handle quite a bit of clothes and are easy to remove and store when we have visitors.

Would work fine on Sheetrock. Eventually releases on smooth ceramic tile no matter how tight it’s twisted. Nothing wrong with product itself, just not suitable for every application.

The reason I bought this is my wife, we just separated, is pillaging my home when I am at work. This is among the things she took along with the shower curtain. Not sure why. She did not unscrew the flanges that the shower curtain rested in. Home Depot had just two slightly different shower curtain rods. I almost bought the one that would not fit in the flanges, the ends being too big in diameter. I noticed the second shower curtain rod was smaller in diameter than the first. I bought it and it fit very nicely in the wall mounted flanges of the taken shower curtain and the same color. Now I just have to buy a shower cutain that beckons available women to take their clothes of and......This shower curtain did not come with mounting flanges and they are probably not needed. It screws into place. But the flanges are nice when you are hanging wet (heavy) laundry on them.

I can't believe that HD even sells shower rods that aren't rust-proof. If they aren't rust-proof, they become worthless within a year or two.
