The product meets all of my basement lighting needs. They're remarkably easy to install once the light housings are in place. I just wish that this particular light would go on sale once in a while. All the others do.

This product was chosen to retrofit the Capri Lighting QL1 6" can lights which may have defective thermal switches. The HALO RL56 600 series has internal thermal protection which allows you to bypass the old thermal switch. The 2700K color was chosen for its closest approximation of warm light associated with traditional incandescents. The instructions were fairly good, but gave no indication about how to bypass the thermal switches. The installation was easy, and those with an average knowledge/skill of residential electrical wiring SHOULD be able to remove the old lense assembly and install the new Halo kit in less than 30 minutes. Tools/materials required for my installation: wire stripper, diagonal side cutting pliers (Ha! how PC was that?) 11/32" socket, and two orange wire nuts. The Halo RL56 600 series fit the Capri QL1 6" cans well, but I cannot say how they fit other products. The light is less bright than the PAR30 halogens, but more bright than any compact florescent I have used in a can light. The light is warm yellow in color and dims well. (Check dimmers for compatibility.) I prefer this color in my living room and bathrooms. I hope this helps someone.

For my application these worked out perfectly and at a fraction of the cost to replace the previous LED units. Also the 4000k light is perfect match to the existing units in place. Very easy to install !

Full Bath recessed LED fixtures
installed two 600Lumen, 4000k 5" LEDs in bathroom remodel with dimmer switch. positioned to spread lighting on floor and cabinet area. may add one more near door entrance as originally planned but wanted to test two units first for coverage. easy to work with, snap connectors, can retrofit into old cans that used screw in bulbs. wet area approved.

    LOVE LOVE LOVE
Redoing lighting in kitchen. Decided to take a 1978 light out in stairwell and put recessed light in. Trying to keep attention on new big light in the center of room. I installed a HALO can which was pretty simple to do and had to choose between incandescent and LED for lighting. I was afraid of heat from incandescent because of where the can is in the attic so I chose LED. OMGosh I love it... it is not hot at all to the touch and it is very sturdy since I dropped it twice while installing it and it did not break. It was a balancing act installing in stairwell, but was still very simple to install. The color is just what I wanted and lights up the stairwell perfectly. Not sure why people claim it buzzes, but mine is not on a dimmer switch... nice and quiet. It is my first LED ever and I am sold..... I will be putting more in other parts of the house.

Easy to install and add a lot more light
I took and installed this in my kitchen that had a recessed light above the kitchen sink. It was an older light in the Kitchen that needed to be updated with either a new baffle or new light fixture. I decided to try this as I have multiple can lights in the home and wanted to see if this would be a suitable replacement. Needless to say that I very happy with this light and the small upgrade that it was in our kitchen. The assembly was pretty easy. I had to remove the trim piece from the existing light fixture and remove the bulb. then you screw in the light adapter in to the light bulb socket. then you connect the light fixture to the plug on the light adapter. then insert the spring arms into the groves of the existing can light. Installation took maybe 5 minutes, including disassembly of the existing light. highly recommend as I will be putting more up in my home now that I see how well these work.

    Easy Installation, Very Bright
This is a great option for changing out ceiling fixtures for the energy efficiency of LED. I chose this one in particular because it can be used in areas of high humidity, like the bathroom. It's made of a solid ceramic material, so it is a little heavy. I found it very easy to change out my incandescent housing and replace it with this new one. My only complaint was that this light at 4000K was still too bright for me. Even though it's recommended for ceilings 8 feet and under. My main issue with LEDs is the bright garish light they produce. I do currently have an LED bulb in my old bath fixture and it's dim enough that I don't notice it's an LED. Also, the ceramic finish is matte and kinda picks up marks easily and is kinda hard to clean. Just an FYI. Also when the light does finally burn out, you'll have to replace the entire unit. I would say this would be a great choice for higher ceilings or for use in an area where hobbies are being done. All in all it took me less than 5 minutes to take the fixture out of the box and have it completely installed in the ceiling.

    Easu Retrofitf
Packaging was ideal, easy to open and product well protected from shelf damage. Unit is high quality and assembly appeared to be high quality also. Instructions were easy to read and follow. My installation was without a dimmer but if you use dimmer, be sure to use specified control and follow those instructions carefully. Most LED dimmers have an adjustment that needs to be attended to.

Does not comply with Energy Star
To comply with Energy Star, the driver must be removable without cutting wires. The driver output wires are bell crimped to the LEDs, which means if the driver needs to be replaced, the wires will have to be cut. There’s no such thing as California Title 24 compliant luminaire. The product meets the California Energy Commission high efficacy requirements to help meet Title 24. Just a clarification.

Good light quality and incredibly easy to install
Never bothered to look at these types of retrofit kits before because they seemed a bit expensive compared to just replacing the bulbs with LED bulbs but now that I've actually held one.... Wow! I can see why they're worth the price. First the trim isn't some cheap piece of molded plastic. It's thick and heavy die-cast aluminum. I was a little worried it would just fall out of the can by the weight but it doesn't. The quality of the light is nice. Compared to LED bulbs in cans the light is a little softer and more pleasing due to the large diffuser and how I assume the LEDs are spread out underneath. The 3500K color temperature and high 90 CRI is also nice. Whiter than an incandescent but still a little warm. Doesn't shift paint colors drastically. It's very bright too. Installation was very quick and easy. I put on my coat to get the package from outside, opened the box, installed the light, took off my coat. The only thing that took a little time was replacing the spring mounting clips with the friction clips since my can didn't have brackets for the torsion springs. The only tool I needed was a screwdriver. Comes with friction clips for 5" or 6" cans and the torsion springs can also be adjusted for 5" or 6" cans and a couple of extra screws which is great. Whenever a product comes with extra screws or small parts they're like magic screws or something because I never wind up dropping and losing any of them no matter how high up a ladder or in what strange position I'm trying to install something in. Okay, they're probably not really magic screws but still nice to have. Only thing I didn't like was the gasket. It came all crumpled and was time-consuming to get it installed properly. That wasn't a big concern for me since the light isn't installed in an air that requires an Air-Tight installation but if it does for you, you might want to remove the gaskets and let them flatten out a little before you install. I don't have this installed on a dimmer but looking around HALO's site it looks like you'll want to use a dimmer specifically meant for low voltage CFL/LED lights to get it to dim well. According to the specs it can dim down to 5% with "Leading Edge (LE) and Trailing Edge (TE) Phase Control dimmers". Look for a dimmer that has the trim control that allows you to adjust how dim it gets.

5 Year Warranty, Easy Install & Very Bright White Light
The light is ascetically pleasing to the eye and took five minutes to install. The energy savings should be at least half of my old spot lights. The light is bright which is what I wanted over my kitchen bar because I only have one light. I am going to replace the rest of my recessed lights with Led lamps. I had a different brand before this that had a delay before it turned on but this turns on as soon as the light switch is flipped.

I love the light in my shower. It makes such a difference.
I was tired of showering in the dark. When I remodeled my bathroom, I made sure that I put a light in the shower. This Recessed Retrofit Baffle made it possible.

    So worth it.
These Halo LED modules are so worth it. I was originally going to use a different brand to save a little money, but for a few bucks more I went with these Halo LED units, and am so happy about them. You can feel the difference, and so far I am very happy with them, I am looking forward to them way down the road.

    Great Retrofit Option
We are the process of replacing all of the recessed lighting in our 1978 home. I wanted an option that would not require replacement of the existing can. These were recommended to me by my electrician, and I have to say that we are extremely pleased. The light looks great--very modern--the fittings are sleek, and the light output is phenomenal. I had a couple of issues with the spring mounts on a couple of cans, but overall, they work really well. They give a good, tight, and secure hold to the ceiling. I do wish that the trim ring had adhesive on one side to prevent it from sliding, but that was an easy fix with some double-sided tape. I am hoping that these lights will give us the energy savings for which we are looking. Overall, I highly recommend to anyone looking to update for a reasonable price.

    Quick, easy, green
Installation is nearly as easy as screwing in a light bulb. Remove the bulb and trim, screw a grounding wire to the can, screw in the adapter, and push the fixture into place. I fiddled with the first and really don't have a great place to screw in the ground in my old Juno cans. When placing the new fixture, you need to carefully squeeze and place the spring holders. After the first one, the others took five minutes each to install. I like this particular fixture because it's only 9.4 watts, yet it is extremely bright. The fixed lens is at a depth which I prefer. Some fixtures seem more recessed and I thought they might appear dimmer. A while ago, I was able to compare the illumination as they were on display at HD. They seemed more evenly lit when staring into the illumination area than some others. They are plasticy-looking, but in this price range, they all are. Have had some for six months and just bought more.

Looks good but what about that buzzing
The light looks good and was easy to install but why does it make a low buzzing noise? I'm using the Lutron Skylark LED dimmer switch also purchased at Home Depot. Other then the buzzing, I'm very happy with it.

We already have Halo LED can lights. Top notch lights. We had an off brand we had bought while building our house because they were cheaper. The less expensive ones just didn’t work out. We replaced them with Halo.

I love these lights. They are so easy to install and I like being able to change the lumins. The cost is a little expensive but with the led lights they should last a lot longer than regular bulbs.
