Gorgeous Sepele butcher block counter and shelf in our pantry.

The wood looked great, however the boards were not jointed together and only glued. I ordered 2 of these and one fell apart right out of the packaging.

Of the 4 - 6' Sapele butcher block countertops that I ordered from Home Depot over the past month, 3 showed multiple failures along glue lines. indicating a likely issue somewhere within the manufacturing process, owing to the fact that packaging for each countertop arrived intact and without blemish. On the positive side, the countertops are constructed of a high grade of sapele wood with well above average preliminary sanding and would garner a much higher rating were it not for chronic joint delamination. Beautiful piece we created into my home office desk! Took off about 8 inches and created a riser underneath… with only mineral oil, looked like a $1000 desk top!! :)

Beautiful wood that finished well with just very light sanding

The board was split in two when it arrived. The board itself was beautiful, but I needed it to be in one full piece. HD took it back for a full refund.

Received English walnut instead of sepele, installed top before I took note... top looks great, I was just surprised that I was shipped the wrong items.

We purchased this product as a counter top for a coffee bar. We had experienced minor flooding in our home and had to replace the base cabinets in the kitchen and decided to do something different and I was not disappointed! I love the color of the wood and the quality-it’s a heavy, solid piece of wood! It arrived a few days after ordered and I was concerned because the information sheet enclosed with the product said it was walnut. I contacted Home Depot and was encouraged to call the manufacturer. As it was after hours I left a detailed message and received a phone call the following day. I texted pictures and it was determined that the item was mislabeled and we did receive sapelli. We used mineral oil on it and it turned out beautiful! Kinda wished we would have done the entire kitchen with this wood.

- that color you will achieve if you wax it - expect that both sides may have glued stains that look bad -the corners can be pressed down and you will over-sanded - this is a board to which you need to add a lot of work so that it looks like in the picture

So far Home Depot has delivered 2 damaged orders of this product. My order was delivered to our local store. The 1st time it was noticably damaged, and the store returned it for a replacement. The 2nd time, we picked up the order and upon opening it up at home, found that it was delaminating down the middle. The delamination extended about 4 of the 6 feet length and went all the way through the thickness of the countertop. Had to return. Very disappointing as otherwise the countertop was beautiful. Very solid and heavy; the color was beautiful even unfinished. It was also well packaged, so it looks like the delamination was not due to mis-handling during shipping. I ordered a replacement, as the price can't be beat. Hoping we will eventually get an undamaged countertop. (fingers crossed)

Wood was gorgeous after I oiled it! There are some fillers on one did but overall I love it.

I never write reviews, but feel obliged because of how happy I am with this one. I have Cherry cabinets and wanted a BB to compliment and update. It is Perfect. The size was perfect and as listed, and there are very few fills. I do have two small ones... if I had looked at both sides before mounting I would have flipped it. Rookie mistake. I rounded the edges with a Mider(?) saw and wet sanded with oil and sand paper to get it nice and smooth, after sealing with lots of coats of Goddards. It does need this bit of elbow grease, and is 100% worth it. It certainly has a red hue to it, but i LOVE it with my copper sink and warm granite colors :D

The counter came damaged was not properly glued together and it was in three pieces.
