Totally rusted after a year... you'd think an outdoor light would be able to handle the elements. Bummer!

Really pretty light fixture that we received compliments on the moment it was hung. Even our contractor (who hung it!) said it was among the nicest he'd seen. We use a soft white LED bulb and it puts out a good amount of light on our uncovered front porch/deck. I highly recommend this fixture!

This is a great little light fixture. I bought two to mount on either side of my garage and they look amazing. They were really easy to install—I’m female and did it all by myself. One thing to note: I used Philips A19 Vintage amber bulbs. They look beautiful. However, I’m not sure if it’s the fixtures or the bulbs, but they snap on at dusk and off at dawn. I love this feature, but could not find it anywhere on the packaging or manual of either product. So don’t stress out when you install them in daylight and five minutes later they go off. This could be the bulbs (their packaging just says dimmable) and not the fixture. But I couldn’t figure out why I would turn on the switch and they would work; then you could hear an audible snap sound and they would both turn off at the exact same time. But come dusk, they popped right on. So, I just leave the switch on all the time now. I’m hoping this will save someone else a little irritation as I thought that maybe there was a problem with my install. But, they work perfectly!

I like the lantern as it looks nice and complements the entry. It was easy to install and the LED light brightens the whole area. Seems to defy the winds quite well.

I highly recommend this light. I purchased three for a kitchen remodel. One was installed over the sink, one over the coffee bar and one over a door way. Love the quality of metal, it is heavy and solid. The glass is not thin and has a good thickness to it to lend to its durability. The bubble glass is lovely giving it a vintage feel. I am remodeling another kitchen and am considering using this product again. The right lighting can make a kitchen amazing and I love Home Depot for their variety and affordability. Always my first go to for lighting. There is no Home Depot where I live so rely on online shopping, their web site is easy to use to find what I need, love the free shipping if over a certain amount. Product came on time, no damage. Will continue to shop lighting here.

The finish on these lights failed within months of installation. They are now completely rusted. I originally purchased three of these and after a many years they still look almost like new. Based on this I purchased six more. All of the new ones are completely rusted, the nickel finish failed in less than a year, too much effort to replace and the finish is not covered by warranty. They are now around ten years old nearly rusting through. The old ones are stainless steel and still look great, the new ones are steel with a nickel finish that will fail, see image.

Easy to install and we love the look!

RUSTS Love the design of this lantern but it rusts, and rusts badly in less than one year. I am very surprised at the low quality. We purchased four of these, and they are all under overhangs in Florida, and all of them have rusted.

The lamp has a great modern look and it is easy to assemble. Loved that!

Excellent fixture for outdoors. Provides plenty of light in all directions. The styling is attractive. The ONLY thing that prevents me from giving this fixture 5 Stars is the difficulty I had attaching the clear globe to the fixture. It's a classic arrangement of 3 screws that you turn by hand to capture the lip of the clear globe. The lip was difficult to capture, which led to several false installs before I finally dialed it in. If I had not been very cautious, the glass globe would have slipped out and broken several times. After I loosened all three screws all the way out, then tightened them, it finally got seated. It could have been "operator error"? Anyway, it's beautiful and I'm tempted to purchase two more for other entrances to my house.

I am using these indoors in bathroom and like them but would be pretty flimsy for outdoors as stated on box.

They were purchased for my back deck. I can see my entire deck now & grill after dark. I love the way they look. They give enough light so I can see to my back fence so I can see when I let my dogs out at night.

I bought 5 of these lights for outdoors. They are under over hangs so some what protected. They completely rusted and look terrible after a year.

I bought these lamps 4 months ago. The are covered by an overhang outside on my porch. ALL the 3 holding screws on each lamp had completely rusted. Further on inspection the tops of all 3 of my lanterns are showing good amount of rust. These are for exterior use???? Come on. This is unacceptable as I paid good money for them. I will write to the company and I hope HomeDepot see's this and takes action.

We purchased two of these lights last summer in the store - without reading these reviews. This spring we discovered rust developing on both lights, and checked the reviews. Of course, many others mentioned this too. I decided to call the store and ask if they stood behind the light, and they told me they only handle warranty items within 90 days, but to call Hampton Bay (the number in the manual that came with the lights). I called them, and the WONDERFUL agent (actually a Home Depot employee) asked lots of questions and asked me to send photos. Within 8 hours of sending the photos, she'd replied back and sent an electronic gift card to replace the lights. We really love the lights and the price can't be beat, so we'll be purchasing replacements and spraying with a clear coat this time!

Purchased these for my cabin porch. Other reviews said they rust quickly but went ahead anyway as they are protected under the porch overhand. Not heaving duty but great looking, good size and easy install. An easy update to dated looking brass fixtures that were there previously and a fraction of the cost of what I was finding elsewhere.

We put up 4 of these fixtures (chosen for appearance and price) 3 summers ago. We just noticed that one of the fixtures - the only one that gets hit directly by rain - is rusted over. We will probably replace it with the same fixture (if we can't remove the rust) and do a clear coat of laquer like another reviewer suggested. We'd replace it with something else entirely, but since the fixtures are all in sight of one another, it would mean replacing all of them and that could get kind of spendy. I do wish we'd read the reviews before we bought these, we would have gone with something visually similiar but of a higher quality.

I wanted this look for a bathroom re-do. I used barn siding to frame the mirror and was going for a beach-like weathered feel. The negative reviews made me think twice but they were relative to outdoor installs. I can see how this is a problem, they do not look outdoor-worthy. Attaching the glass globe took a while but other than that, I am very happy. They look amazing as bathroom vanity lighting!

At first I was affraid to get these with all the negative reviews, but I bought them anyway. First I repainted them in a hammer finish bronze spray paint and They turned out great. I did modify them some what, (made them into hanging style lights on a over-the-door pergola I built. Looks great.

The lamp is gorgeous. The light it casts is efficient, broad, and beautiful. The wiring and installation was quick and easy. Instructions were clear. The cage won't really protect the glass against even light impacts, so install this away from danger. The glass has bubbles which is artistic, the dome glass is easy to wash and clean when removed from the housing. The metal housing is pretty when new but rusts easily. I purchased this lamp and had it installed for about 4 months when it began to rust heavily. This lamp carries a 3-year warranty that specifically excludes issues with the surface finish (rust). Now that I can't return it and the warranty is worthless, I have brush painted it over with aluminum Rustoleum paint. I put two coats over the entire metal body after spending about 30 minutes scrubbing the rust off with a stainless bristle brush. The new paint looks about 70% as good as the original shiny finish, but has been much more durable. My concern is to ensure that the rust does not continue to penetrate and destroy the lamp. They should have offered this lamp in 100% aluminum or painted it to prevent the rusting issue. The lamp does not get exposure to severe weather and for the first few weeks held up well. After a while, the surface will rust on you due to the damp evening dew and spreads fast. The metal housing material appears to be some type of unprotected raw steel polished to a shine. Installation was easy and it looked great before the rust. It looks ok now that I have repainted the body with rust proof paint. I suggest that you consider another lamp, or to spray a clear rustproof paint over this lamp before installation. Stainless versions of this lamp could not be purchased for less than $130. Just be aware of the ease of rust and to take preventative measures if you insist on getting this lamp. Not durable at all. Would not purchase again. But since I have it, I'll try to make the best of it. See pictures for an idea of the rust after a few weeks.

Rusted and look horrible, can’t get a refund. Wish they would stand by there product

Not weather resistant! Completely rusted badly within 3 months even though under protective eaves. At $45 each, expensive to replace several, plus electrician installation.
