Customer Reviews for Hampton Bay 72 in. White Wood 5-shelf Standard Bookcase with Adjustable Shelves

It's made in China and arrives almost completely disassembled, and weighs 66 pounds. Give yourself 2 hours of patient work with two persons to assemble the book case. The back of the book case is strips of wood grain applique over about 1/8 inch thick stiff board; the strips are taped together in the vertical direction and face the rear of the book case. We bought it to serve as a short term book case, and it meets that need. In terms of perspective, this is the first purchase that we have made from Home Depot since 2005 when we bought carpet from Home Depot, and the installers backed their truck into the porch of our house. It took a demand letter for small claims court from us sent to the then CEO to get Home Depot to pay for the damage to the porch.

Just what I was looking for, easy assembly too.

Looks nice and sturdy. It was pretty easy to assemble, just takes a little time. The back panel is very thin but no problems so far.

Good shelving, excellent formal look, though a bit low in quality overall (easy to scratch/nick, and a few pieces were slightly damaged during shipping). I'm still happy with them.

This finished product is fine. The assembly was a bit of a challenge. Great product for the price.

I’m happy with the look of the bookcase. There was a chip on one of the shelves, so I’ll need to paint it, but otherwise, it arrive in good condition.

Design was beautiful. Particle board tendency to chip. Top part leaned when attached to the bottom part.

The bookshelf was of good quality for the price. It was easy to assemble with the exception of putting on the two piece backing. Holes did not line up. Otherwise we are very happy with the purchase.

Look elegant at very nice price...

Dowel rids were missing, parts were glued upside down, overall a giant pain and disappointment. We manage to fix all of the issues ourselves but it took longer than we wanted. Not worth the $300+ for two of them. They also look super cheap. I won’t be shopping at Home Depot again, that’s for sure.
