This fan wasn't difficult to install. If you have installed a ceiling fan before, you shouldn't have any difficulties with this one. However, the instructions aren't that great. For starters there are four wires total, one is for the fan and the other is for the light. However, the instructions tell you to connect both of them to the "hot" wire in your electrical box. If you have a proper fan circuit you don't want to do this because you lose the ability to turn the fan on independently of the light. The manufacturer doesn't give you enough wire nuts to be able to wire them separately which is a nuisance when you expect to have everything you need in the box. In section six it is much easier to remove one of the screws and loosen the other BEFORE the motor assembly is hung on the mount. You'll need a stubby screwdriver to re-tighten these screws as well, because a standard length screwdriver will not fit if you are using the supplied down-rod. I'm a bit disappointed that this cannot be flush mounted to the ceiling. No matter what you have to use a down-rod. This is mostly my fault for not reading the description of the fan better before selecting it. Even with the short 4.5" down-rod it doesn't hang too low from the ceiling because the light fixture assembly is very thin thanks to the LED light. NO deduction here. The light output from the LED light on this fan is really bright. I installed this fan in my son's bedroom and the light output is much better than just the two 60 watt bulbs I had previously. A little strange at first because the light is cast mostly downward and not so much at the ceiling. In my opinion the fan blades are the weakest link in this fan. They are made of cheap particle board and wrapped in a thin veneer that is easily scratched and damaged. They look nice but are poorly made for a fan at this price point. So far, I love the fan though. It's quiet, throws off a good amount of light (can it be dimmed?), and looks sharp. I'm just disappointed with the blade quality.

A wonderful and quiet running ceiling fan with a light too! The installation was easy and the instructions to install as well as operate the fan with light were very clear. Simple hand tools are all that are needed. There are separate chains for the light and fan speeds. It has 3 speeds to move the air as you desire. It also has reverse fan rotation to move the heated air gently from the ceiling down into the room during heated seasons saving me money for heating fuel too. It has a nice clean design that hides all the screws from view. A nice frosted glass surrounds the LED light which emits enough light to illuminate our family room nicely. The blades rotate quietly without and vibration even on high speed. It is truly a great value! The blades are also reversible to chose from 2 different finishes to match your decor

It is a very stylish design and the fan speed is good. The installation process was fairly easy as well. Only negative thing about the fans is the lighting for larger rooms. If your room is small then it's prefect. I installed one in my living room it the lightning was not adaquect. It was a good thing I had extra lighting already installed. Overall it's a good product.

Easy to install and very attractive. Has balancing weights included, but they were not needed--it was smooth and very quiet after installation without further adjustment. Light is adequate, but not as bright as multi-light kits. Very nice looking, complimenting a modern or transitional decor.

Menage 52 in. Integrated LED Indoor Brushed Nickel Ceiling Fan This is a great ceiling fan. It is very attractive, comes well packaged with clear instructions. If you have previously installed a ceiling fan you know that it is always a bit of a challenge. I found this fan to be a bit easier to install than my previous ceiling fans. The fan fits into a very nice ball mount that allows you to hang the fan and then wire it, very nice. I also especially liked how the blades attached, no screws, simply put them over the already installed mounts and slide them back until they lock in place, they fit snugly so a bit of effort is required. Everything on the fan was well designed and fit together as it should have. I think this is a very attractive fan. The arms were also thought out, the screws that mount the arms to the fan fit flush and are almost hidden, the blade attachments are totally hidden. The light kit has more than forty led’s built in that provide plenty of light and the frosted globe does a great job of diffusing any harsh glare. The fan has three speeds and is very quiet, of course when it is on high there is a bit of wind noise. There was also no need to use the included weights to balance the fan as it was already perfectly balanced. If the design of this fan appeals to you I don’t see how you could go wrong. It is a terrific fan. Pros Good instructions Looks good Quiet Cons None

Bought the brushed nickel version. Product is modern/sleek looking. Reversible blades, one side platinum-look, other a driftwood finish. Blades are super easy to switch with no tools required. LED light is nice and bright, fan quiet. Note this does not come with a remote.

This is a beautiful fan! I love it! I was looking for a black fan to place in my teenage son's bedroom. When I saw this in a matte black finish, i thought, why not?!?1 So, after a fairly routine ceiling fan installation, the fan went up in less than 30 minuted and I flipped the switch, and Viola! My son has a light and fan in his bedroom that is sharp looking, has five blades with reversible sides (both dark in appearance) and is quiet running. The LED light is bright with a clean white light. I couldn't be happier with this product!

I needed to upgrade the ceiling fans in my home and decided on the Hampton Bay Menage 52 inch Integrated LED Indoor Low Profile Ceiling Fan with Light Kit. The matt black finish is very stylish and the 14 watt LED Light is very bright. It comes with a 3-speed fan and is very quiet. The 5 blades are perfectly balanced and includes a reverse switch for operating in the winter. The low profile is best suited for low ceiling and ideal for large rooms. Highly Recommended

This fan is going in my unheated garage but it's just too cold and windy out to consider doing the wiring and installation now. I've lost count of the number of ceiling fans I've installed in my lifetime but this is the first one I've received that did not include an installation sheet in the box. If needed, here's a link to the installation sheet. https://www.homedepot.com/catalog/pdfImages/72/72d67b95-9598-4b82-8526-21d0a0dac1d9.pdf If you've never installed a ceiling, fan this page has two excellent videos. "Selecting a Ceilling Fan" and "Installing a Ceiling Fan" I ordered this fan because it has 52 in. blades and LED lighting. The directions are easily understood and well illustrated. This is a fan that anyone who is familiar with very basic home wiring, and can handle a screwdriver, can install themselves. One very unique feature is the toolless blade installation, first time I've seen this. Once the blade mounting brackets are fastened to the motor assembly the blades simply snap on. What an innovative design! This make cleaning or blade reversal (white or white oak) super easy. To remove a blade "Press down the locking mechanism (SS) to release the blade (A) from the blade arm (H). Slide the blade (A) toward the blade arm (H) until the blade (A) disengages from the locking mechanism (SS). Carefully push the blade (A) up to detach from the blade arm (H)." If needed, the box includes a blade balancing kit. The fan motor is of the standard three speed variety and is controlled with the included pull-chain. The LED light is also activated with a pull-chain but can be controlled with an optional dimmer switch. The motor wires are about 4-1/2 ft. long so with an optional 48 in. downrod this fan can be hung from a 12 ft. ceiling without having to splice and solder wires. The ball type hanging bracket allows the fan to be used on a gently sloped ceiling. Due to the 18 lb. weight it's extremely important that the proper fan box is installed and securely fastened to a ceiling joist. When using the included 4-1/2 in. downrod the bottom of the fan is 16 in. from the ceiling. The supplier warrants the fan motor to be free from defects in workmanship and material, present at time of shipment from the factory, for a lifetime after the date of purchase by the original purchaser. The supplier also warrants that all other fan parts, excluding any glass or acrylic blades to be free from defects in workmanship and material, at the time of shipment from the factory, for a period of one year after the date of purchase by the original purchaser.

This ceiling fan is very attractive and economical, but, I'm not very happy with the LED lights that came with it. They are really dim compared to the lights on the fan it replaced. We have installed several ceiling fans and this one was a standard install that went smoothly. The fan blades snap on, which is a nice feature! This fan came with black blades that reversed to a cherry stain blade. The fan does reverse air flow for winter months and runs very quietly.Overall this is a good buy for the price.

I got this fan to replace an old sagging ceiling fan in my mom's kitchen. I can't count how many ceiling fans I have installed over the years but this one was by far the easiest. I did not install the light kit since there was already a light in the kitchen and the fan comes with a cover plate for this purpose. Installation of the base was typical ball and cradle. The short 4.5 inch down rod makes for a tight work area while wiring but since this is a pull chain fan (thumbs up on this), there was no receiver to try to cram into the base. The fan blades installation is where the easy part comes in. There is not screwing required to attach the blades to the base; just slide them into the rubber-lined slots for a snug fit (see photo). To attach the blades to the motor unit, the screws are already in the blade base so there was no dropping screws. Great concept that worked. Beautiful fan and the brushed nickel finish makes it. There was a blade alignment kit included that was not required because the fan runs smooth and quiet. Three-speed pull chain operation with a reverse switch on the motor base that is easy to access. Thumbs up!

Nice modern style. I really like the low profile light fixture that isn't like the old style units that are big and bulky. There were no directions in the box but I've hung a few fans in my life so it wasn't difficult. The fan blades were super easy to attach (snap in style). The fan has reversible blades for summer/winter air circulation and it can be hung on a flat or sloped ceiling. It does not come with an extension for taller ceilings. The blades are also reversible. Pure white on one side and a whitewashed oak on the other (see pics). It is easy to level and is super quiet when running. My only complaint with this fan is that it had little paint blisters on the white metal blade base (see pic) but nobody else is ever going to notice this unless the white paint starts to chip off. My primary concern when installing a ceiling fan is if it will have an annoying noise level and this fan is QUIET! The LED light is not super bright but I'm using this in a bedroom for secondary lighting so it's not a problem. All in all, I think the value and performance of this fan is great.

This ceiling fan is easy to install even though there were no installation instructions included in our box. It is a fan with knob type attachments that make it easy to hang the fixture while you are doing the wiring. All the wiring accessories are included. The light kit included has plugs to attach the wiring to the fan electrical box wiring which makes this easy to do. It is a classic design with a glass light diffuser that is easy to take on and off. We love the light effect of the LED lighting. It provides great light in the area and is not affected by the spinning of the fan blades. The fan we replaced had the light above the blades that made the light "move" which drove me crazy. Also this fan is in my sewing studio so the brightness of the LED makes me really happy. I need LOTS of light there! The fan motor has multiple speeds and easy to use pull chains. The fan is not very heavy. We like the way the 5 blade attachments work. The procedure for putting on and taking off the fan blades is a slide and snap technique rather than having to put two screws in for each blade. This makes it easy to slide the blades off for cleaning, if desired. The blade attachments make an enclosed circle around the motor section, which looks very attractive.

This fan looks great, even though it may not be as expensive as some. Assembly is still old school, which isn’t necessarily bad, but don’t plan on using a screw gun to install the blades as you will need an extraordinarily long bit for that. However, there are only 10 of them. The ceiling bracket makes it easy to hang the motor while you are installing. The screws for the light kit cover were extremely tight and I could have used a shorter down-rod, but it is still pretty short. The light kit went on easily also. Again, it is a nice looking economical ceiling fan.

This is a beautiful fan to accent both modern and traditional decors. It has basic functions and works very well. I picked this fan for the guest room makeover for its modern and traditional elements. Overall, it looks amazing and I love the low profile motor. The light is a great brightness for the 14' x 16' room and is LED as well. The light does not use bulbs (see picture) and in the unlikely or many-years-down-the-road event it breaks, you would have to go through the manufacturer for a new one. The blades are reversible; one side is a silverish gray, the other a grayish wood grain. (see picture) I went with the wood grain. The light was packaged well and assembly/installation took about an hour. The fan installs like typical ones do and the directions were easy to follow. The fan comes with a 4" downrod but the wires are about 3' long if you opt for a longer downrod. I had to cut and splice the wires for my use. As with typical fans, wiring them before hanging is difficult. My method to accomplish this is to hang the fan motor off the bracket with some wire (see picture) but a coat hanger will do as well. The fan blades are very easy to put on the bracket, they just slide and click into place (see picture). Screwing the fan blades on was a little tricky as the "light buld" gets in the way (see picture). I had to use two different screw drivers. The fan runs very smooth and comes with a weight kit if you get wobbles. The light and fan are pull start and my ceiling box is wired so the fan always has power but the switch works the light. The light cannot be dimmed from what I know. Quality of parts is very good.

I really like the sleek, modern styling of this Hampton Bay Menage ceiling fan. I replaced a similar Hampton Bay Rothley ceiling fan. The fan can be mounted on flat or sloping ceilings. It comes with a 6" down rod suitable for an 8' flat ceiling. A chart on the box has a table to help select different down rod lengths based on other ceiling configurations. I have a 12' sloping ceiling and the metal fan mounting outlet box is recessed below the drywall. The previous fan had a wide mounting bracket that would snug up securely against the drywall. The new fan mounting bracket is only 1/3 as wide and couldn't be securely fastened without crushing the drywall. If I screwed it all the way in and crushed the drywall, the canopy would no longer fit. Since I intended to reuse the 24" downrod from the old fan I just went ahead and used the old mounting bracket and canopy, so it's just as secure as it always has been. An alternative fix might have been to use spacers or washers to make up the thickness of the drywall. The instructions say to hang the fan on the mounting bracket (step 4), and then assemble the blades (step 7), attach the assembled blades to the fan (step 8) and then install light kit (step 9). Since I dislike working over my head on a ladder I sort of reversed the steps. Before hanging the fan I installed the blade arms and light kit. Getting the light kit aligned and wiring tucked in took both hands and some effort, so it would have been really tough to do with the fan hanging and the blades installed. I then hung the fan, hooked up the wiring, and installed the blades on the blade arms. The blades can be mounted with either side down. I didn't care for the gray wood-grain pattern, but the plain gray on the other side gives it a nice contemporary look. There's a locking spring that secures the blade to the blade arm. No matter how hard I pushed on the blades I couldn't get the locking springs to pop up, but a little nudge underneath the springs with a slotted screwdriver did the trick. It's energy efficient, using 17 watts for the light, and 14, 31, and 61 watts respectively on low, medium, and high speed. I'm using it with an electronic wall control and it works fine. There's a very light hum from the motor. It comes with a blade balancing kit that I didn't need because it was almost perfectly balanced right out of the box. There was only a slight wobble running on high speed. The LED light should last a long time. It's 1124 lumens (75 watt equivalent), with a color temperature of 3K (bright white) and color index of 83. There is a lifetime warranty on the motor. My wife and I both think it's beautiful, and I can strongly recommend it unless your mounting outlet box is recessed.

Wow what a cool fan! The Matte black finish works well with my rooms décor. The install was a breeze and the fan blade installation was the easiest system I have ever used. Finally someone got it right. The blades fit over the pins and a simple push snap into place. This design also allows one to install or switch the blades while standing on a ladder without any tools. The fan uses a screw in rod base and locking pin system for added safety. The lighting is bright and pleasant. Overall, the installation took about 45 minutes and the instructions were well illustrated. I highly recommend this stylish fan and feel that it will compliment most decors at a great value. Hampton Bay is a brand we know and trust and build quality fans. I am very pleased with this fan.

This ceiling fan wasn't as easy to put together as they used to be. I would suggest watching the video and go ahead one more screen than you're on, it'll be easier. I like the fan but not the way the pulls go through the glass.

Dont Ever buy Anything from Hampton Bay
