Beautiful floor, some flaws
Very nice color and seems durable enough but scratches easily. Some planks were unusable due being cut incorrectly and had a tongue on both sides. Some planks were warped causing my floor to have nopenings between some planks. Instructions say to leave a 3/4” gap on all sides of floor but pictures show trim used being that of about 1/2”; a little confusing. Glue recommendation is different in the instructions than the website and whether to mail or not is also different between the two

Compared to other bamboo I have purchased, this stuff was well worth the extra money. Every single piece was flawless, resulting in a stunning floor. The extra thickness was welcomed as well, because it nailed to the floor much more solid than the typical 3/8 inch bamboo does. I highly recommend this bamboo to others.

A little expensive but worth it ...
Purchased almost 500 square feet worth for project. Boxes are pretty heavy so be prepared for a workout to move them. Instructions come in each box. The boards click together very easily. Less than 10 boards had somewhat lighter coloring than the others or minor marks that made them undesirable for installation. Not bad given I ordered 448 boards in a total of 28 boxes.

Amazing
Waited a year to write review-not sure y there negative reviews regarding the durability? I took hammers and knifes to the number of samples I had mailed and picked up from home depot. The engineered Bamboo Walnut was the best. Unless you take the tip of the knife and scrape directly to the floor it doesn't scratch. Read another review said it was cheap and looked faked? The planks are solid and very heavy. When you get your sample I recommend CHECK THE PROFILE! MAKE SURE YOU DONT PURCHASE THE VANEER! You want to look for a solid piece that is slightly blended in color. Thats the flooring you want to buy. We have two Rodesian Ridgebacks 80-100lb dogs. Zero scratches on are floor. If your concerned about dogs these are the floors to own. We were concerned about the wear from them-which is y we only covered the master bedroom before we decided on the living/dining room. We are finishing these rooms this month will re-post another review after another year. Only problem with floor is you cannot steam mop and light colored hair(from the dogs) shows. Easily sweeps up. Floor will creek and pop until it settles in was about 4-6 months.

Looks nicer than we expected - makes noise
I installed a 12 X 14 room with this product and I'm really pleased with the look. I was concerned that it would look like a cheaper laminate when installed, but I think it has a much richer look. Installation was quite easy with a power compound mitre saw to make the end cuts. I highly recommend this and note that a table saw is nessesary for the first and last rows. My floor is far out of level, and as a result this floor makes noise when I walk on it. It has a soft crackle to it. I actually pulled the whole thing up and put down a more expensive underlayment to see if that would help. It may have, but only slightly. I think I would have to completely level the floor with leveling cement to eliminate the sound.

It was very similar to what I bought 5 cases of 9 years ago, so I was able to fit the last 2 rows I needed for a late started project. (close enough in color and size, but not the original walnut)

Floor solid and color true after 10 years but gets white scratches in the protective coating that are hard to cover. Strands chip apart if not carful cutting. New latch system T &G rather than the thin ‘u’ shaped lip it originally had so it won’t latch with original version flooring.

We had the floor installed about 6 years ago. Over that time, we have had some parts of it replaced - thankfully we purchased additional boxes (2) with the initial purchase. The wood has bowed. The edges of the top "coating" are starting to wear and peel in areas without much traffic. There have been boards that came apart at the joints. DO NOT purchase this product. It looks good when first installed, but if you read the warranty information, that is about all you get - flooring that looks good when first installed that is not covered under their warranty. This is covered under the manufacturers warranty, and not Home Depot.

        Beautiful flooring
Slightly hard to keep clean with animals, you must pad all furniture with felt protectors. Stands up great to animals.

          Looks beautiful.
Beautiful, hard flooring, put it in my bathroom and will be putting it into the hallway and on stairs. It's so hard it does have a tendency to split when nailing in. I love it though.

Looks great at first. Then reality strikes
We had this floor installed in the new house we built 6 months ago. I did research on how durable bamboo was. I have two kids and two dogs so I wanted something that would hold up. We chose this floor. It looked great at first. The first issue was how much you had to clean it. The dark color shows every pet hair and peck of dust. That was something I could deal with, so I dust mop and clean daily or twice a day most of the time. The horrible thing about the floor is how it scratches. They are not deep scratches, they don't even catch your finger nail if you run across it, most of the time. Both our dogs are lab size and their nails don't mess it up, it's anything that is slid or moved across the floor. I contacted the manufacture about it and they said its the Aluminum Oxide coating. The floor is dark and when the Aluminum Oxide gets pressure/scratched it lightens and shows because the floor is so dark. There is no fix to this. They said it's an issue they know about, but they haven't figured a way to fix it. But they still sell the floor anyways. My kids play area has this floor and it looks horrible. They can't even roll cars across the floor without it showing these marks. And don't even think about walking in the house and getting a little mud or dirt on the floor, when you go to dust mop it up, scratch/mark galore. If you slide anything at all across this floor it WILL mark it up. If I could redo it I would have gone with the wood looking tiles. We did it in the basement area, and it looks great.

worst purchase ever- not first time or first dozen time purchasing wood floors
Bamboo has a hardness rating equal to none, its super hard stuff. had to use a special equipment to nail it down because of it. Finished product is BEAUTIFUL! But dont be fooled with this.... the surface coat is TRASH. Literally my vacuum can scratch it if theres a piece of sand anywhere on the floor. It leaves a bright white scratch on the walnut finish. This can be touched up and buffed over... but its obnoxious. Im type A. Im touching stuff up every week- NO JOKE (not OCD just super obvious). Again I love the look, its stunning. But the scratches have me scared to let the kids use their toys here (2K sq feet of hardwood on main floor). For the cost it should be more durable. Ive purchased a LOT of rugs to help out.... hope it works.

DO NOT install this in your home
This floor has been a nightmare. We are in the process of removing over half of it and putting tile down. It shows every single footprint, water mark and speck of dust. I literally get on my hands and knees everyday and hand mop it. It is extremely tough but the aluminum oxide finish is unforgiving. It does scratch very easily too. Expensive mistake but I have a wonderful, understanding husband...haha. I really wish someone would have warned us about this.

Hi Barbiegirl, I apologize for your experience with this product. I did reach out to the MFG for more information on this issue and below is their response to you. In general, darker objects have a tendency to show dust / watermarks, etc., more so than lighter toned product. This is true of any object including flooring. Footprints are a result of reside on your flooring and can be prevented from continually happening by cleaning thoroughly. Home Legend recommends that you test any off-the-shelf product in a non-conspicuous area for adverse side effects before using on entire floor. It is necessary to prevent surface scratching by using felt pads under all furniture and use care when moving objects across the flooring For further information, please contact Home Legend Technical services. Hope this helps.

                Great product; smaller boards
I'm so happy we didn't listen to some of the reviews on here in regards to the scratching. We installed this beautiful floor in a matter of hours. It was a first time installing hard wood -- the laminate floor boards we normally use are a lot larger so we were a little surprised when the boxes arrived. But they were still easy to install. We have three year old twins, cats and dogs. Needless to say, the kids can certainly be less than gentle with their toys on the floor and there have been no scratches. I tried to scratch a spare piece and eventually did, but it was a challenge! Love this floor and it looks so beautiful.

                READ before buying
After extensive research on flooring, I decided on the Home Legend strand woven bamboo. I was looking for flooring that was durable, eco friendly and non toxic. I have children and pets and their health is a priority. Home Legend bamboo is Green Guard certified which means it has much less toxic chemicals than other flooring. We installed in our kitchen/family room and dining room. (We had a professional floor installer so I cannot comment on the ease of installation.) Overall, the look of the flooring is very nice; HOWEVER, the walnut coloring is very dark and will show every speck of dirt and dust. I thought that a darker floor would hide dirt a little better but it only enhances it. If I could go back in time, I would pick lighter color flooring. As far as scratches, I have noticed a few scratches but nothing substantial or that noticeable (although it’s only been a month or so since the flooring has been installed). One final note for dog owners, one of my dogs was able to walk fine on the flooring but the other one had a really hard time. They can slip and slide very easily if excited or walking too fast. We put runners in high traffic areas to help with this situation.

                Avoid at all costs!!!
Please do not purchase this flooring! I can honestly say, purchasing this flooring has been our biggest home renovation regret! We had our floors installed about 18 months ago and our floors look horrible. They have scratches everywhere. We have a dog but keep her nails short but that does not stop these floors from scratching. The reason we bought the woven strand was because it was suppose to be stronger and resist scratching but that's not the case. Over the past 6 months, we have been encountering other issues. The boards appear to be shrinking, pulling away from the walls with noticeable gaps between the board and the quarter round. A few boards in the middle of the room have 3/4 cm gaps from the boards pulling in different directions. Other boards are starting to peak creating an uneven surface. We let them acclimate in our house for over a week. They should not be pulling apart a year after installation! And they crack! Random boards have cracks in them. We've already had to replace one board because the crack was so bad that a piece of the board came off! Also, the dark Walnut color might look great but it's impossible to keep clean. It shows every little bit of dust. Like I said, they look terrible and it's embarrassing to "show off" our floors. I'm in the process of making a warranty claim with Home Legend. Lets home they honor their warranty!

                  Durable flooring & beautiful-1 downside
We installed this flooring 7 months ago. (5/12) We love the color, the ease of installation and durability. I say durability as in-strength. We have an old (huge) upright piano that we placed an additional layer under to (with leftovers) to avoid damage by denting from the weight of the piano. So far, there is no weight damage-denting- in this flooring from the piano or the wheels. However, this flooring does scratch. It's odd in the way what will scratch it. We have dogs and cats, who's claws do not injure the flooring, but furniture, especially wood, if slid across the floor will scratch the surface, or a box-with a sharp corner or staple. We put felt padding on all furniture feet or place small soft rugs under chairs to protect from scratching. The instructions explain how to 'rub out' scratches using some kind of compound. The dogs only have trouble walking over the floor if they are young and inexperienced with hardwood. To clean, I use an electric Swifer to avoid scratching, but have not yet determined what to use to 'wipe clean' since no moisture should be used on this floor. The instructions in the box say to just wipe off with a damp cloth, which I have done in spots as needed. FYI-So far some moisture (snow on shoes/dog licks) has not hurt the finish any. So, if you don't mind a little extra care and planning to avoid scratching, it's a great floor. Also, make sure to mix your boxes well...the patterns/color depths do vary greatly from box to box.

                    Avoid at all costs....
I bought over 600 sf of this flooring because it was the only one compatible with my heated floors. As others have mentioned, the planks snap and crack but mainly due to uneven floors. My biggest gripe with this product is that most of it (80-90%) comes damaged. You name it, the planks have it. Scratches, nicks, dents, warping, stains, marks, bubbles, chipping, etc. Due to this, your install time would quadruple because you need to open all your boxes and sort out the good planks. Then you have to use the bad planks to make your smaller cuts. I regret buying this floor and will throw it out once I have enough money to install new flooring. That's $5k down the drain. I will be replacing this with tile flooring as soon as I can....

                      experiences after 800 sq ft
Here are my experiences after 800 sqft (500 more to go). Be prepared that this product will require a bead of pva glue to avoid squeaking/creaking sound. Even on close to perfect flat concrete subfloor it does creak a bit as I found by test-driving it in my unfinished basement on underlayment. I was installing on the second floor of 30-yo townhouse over plywood subfloor. Even after leveling with compound it still squeaks/creaks a bit. Then found in some diy newsboards that if you put a bead of glue in the tongue and grove the squeaking stops. I got Roberts tongue and groove adhesive (#1406) in HD for this and there now no noise even in high traffic area of stair landing. The installation this way does take considerably longer though and you need to constantly wipe out excess glue with wet paper towel. But with experience (by the end of 1 bedroom for me) you will be able to use just enough to avoid any excess glue at all. The floor does scratch if you drag anything sharp on it (like small stones/drywall pieces) when pressed against heavy objects so watch out. You may want to consider lighter color for less visible scratches but the dark colors do look rich. Hope it helps.

                        Looks very nice, scratches easily
Just completed our dining room of ~130 sqft with matching quarter round (probably should have used a white quarter round similar to the baseboard but it looks nice matched. Nearly all my boards were in perfect condition out of the box (8 boxes) with consistent texture and appearance. Very few damaged (perhaps 2 out of the whole lot). Installation was very easy. They scratch very easily but I found that a minwax stain pen in "Ebony" perfectly repairs the scratches and matches the floor well when applied to the ends of quarter round. I apply it and then wipe off the extra immediately. The scratches seem to be very prominent as they disturb the wax like finish which shows white and is highly contrasted against the dark color wood. Dirt and footprints are very conspicuous. There is some noise when walking on them but I suspect that may settle after time. So it's a beautiful floor but I'm glad it's in a low traffic area. I mistakenly got the 09/16" thickness and should have ordered the 3/8" to match the height of the adjacent tile and save several hundred bucks. I didn't quite know how to attach the T-moulding to the concrete, the adjacent tile and the adjacent hardwood. After looking on youtube for some direction, I got some interior clear construction adhesive and applied a big glob only on the concrete every 10" and then weghted the t-moulding down for 24 hrs and it seems to work fine. I'll caulk the gaps. I have now bought black caulking to finish the job as the brown caulk I tried was way too light and contrasted heavily with very dark wood.

                        BEAUTIFUL FLOOR!!!
The previous reviews were confusing to me when deciding on this product because some of them state that they're really soft and can scratch easily. I believe other consumers are confusing the strand woven, solid bamboo floor (this floor) and the standard bamboo hardwood floor (not strand woven). This solid, strand woven floor is incredibly hard and scratch resistant. We've only had them a month or two, but the floors were uncovered during the remainder of construction (oversight by our contractor) and stood up to work boots, cabinet install, appliance install, etc. without any major visible damage. And now we've been living with them and our little dog, and they still look great. Plus, unlike the engineered or standard bamboo floors, these floors can be refinished over and over again. The eco-friendly aspect of this particular floor was also important to me...to know that trees aren't the source for this floor, but the bamboo plant which regenerates over and over again is great. I am thrilled with my purchase, and look forward to seeing it last for years and years to come.
