Safe is usable. Holds papers and other items well. Clunky to use. Latches probably won't last a long time like others have reported having issues with. The anti-slam pistons are somewhat irritating. My biggest complaint is I keep it in a space that is not temperature controlled and the plastic shell cracked in many places. Honeywell replaced it and the second one did the same thing so I'll just live with it. Not sure I recommend this safe but it does the job.

right outside latch broke. not surprised. it is fastened with a plastic fastener. The size is great, it is heavy and not easily moved.

The document storage chest itself is excellent. Trying to get additional keys is a different story. I called customer service 3 times; never answered. Said leave message and will call back. Still waiting for call back.

I like the file box very much. I like that it is waterproof. Home depot price and availability Were the best.

Exactly the safe we needed. We used some hanging folders and still had room to place some collectibles. Fits perfectly in the available space.

This was a gift. The feedback I recieved from the recipient was that it fulfilled her every need.

I am impressed with this unit. It is heavy, well-built and roomy. I like the slow close lid (without which, there would be a risk of crushing fingers given the lid’s weight). The only thing I found somewhat disappointing is that the latches are plastic (thus the 4-stat vs 5-star rating). But given the overall good quality of the safe, I would like to assume that they are a particularly strong and durable plastic. Overall, I would recommend this safe.

Sturdy product, good weight…poor lock quality. I bought my safe about 5 years ago, inside of the first year, the key was stuck and the locking mechanism would not turn. Too unwieldy and heavy to ship back. Fortunately, the lock was in the open position.

Has a good amount of space. Fit file folders and other documents well. Seems like solid construction.

Overall seems well designed and sturdy, with one glaring exception, and one minor issue — the gold latches have plastic mechanisms, which are outside the protection of the safe! Maybe it’s still fireproof if locked, but for in-home use, I don’t need to lock it and it’s annoying to have to. The minor issue is that the key can’t be removed unless it’s in the locked position, and if locked, the lid won’t close, so you either have to leave it unlocked with the key in place, or lock it every time you use it (before you can remove the key).

Solidly built— would seem capable of claimed performance.

Exactly what I needed - lot's of interior room for disks, tapes, important keepsakes, and documents.

The safe is fine. The Home Depot experience was miserable. HD apparently lost the safe for two weeks. The online system consistently said it wasn't at the store, or was at the store but wasn't ready for pick-up. Finally we got a phone call asking why we hadn't picked it up already? A disaster.
