A couple of the negative reviews here talked about quality control issues and I found out sadly they are exactly correct. I purchased the door, as well as the jamb extension kit, and both had issues. The metal plate on the door lock was screwed on crooked, the top frame of the door was misaligned by a good ¼” from side framing, the brickmold was attached poorly. With the jamb extension kit, there is a right and left side piece because of the angle cut at the bottom and it had two right side pieces and no left side piece. Seriously? I’d rather pay a little more and have things done right. This level of quality control is just unacceptable. And now the Jeld-wen rep can come on and type a response saying, “We’re sorry to hear your expectations were not met, blah, blah, blah…”. But they aren’t being taken seriously because these quality issues are still happening. How about instead just have your company make some quality control changes? Just a thought.

Needed a peep hole or small window.

The door is fine. It is a solid door and it is a night-and-day improvement over the old wooden, doggy-door it replaced. I have no issues with the door or the actual installation. The installer completed the job in a fairly reasonable time (about three to four hours). My issue is with the Home Depot installation process. I first ordered the door almost two months ago. As is procedure, I went into the store to set up the install. I was initially told I would be contacted within 72 hours. A week later, I called to find out why I hadn't been contacted. The installer was at the store when I called and we made an appointment for him to come take measurements. Then, it took another week before the store called to inform me that I needed to come in to order a door. After the door and lockset were purchased, I had to call again after a week to figure out why I hadn't heard from anyone. Several days later, the installer called to say that he had not gotten my paperwork from the store. And then, the final straw was that he was about a month out on scheduling. The bottom line? If you want a door installed, either do it yourself and hire your own installer who can work on your schedule. Home Depot Installation is a joke!!!

This pre-hung exterior door is garbage. I returned it the day after I purchased it, having spent some time on the day of purchase inspecting it once I arrived home. I can't express how disappointed I am in Jeld-Wen for producing such garbage and Home Depot for stocking and selling such garbage. Granted, you get what you pay for, but I expected, at the very least, a little bit of quality control and some inspection of the product before it was shipped for sale. Apparently, Jeld-Wen cares absolutely nothing about the quality and inspection of its products. It's been my experience that when a company is truly concerned about the quality of its products the quality is apparent and consistent throughout the different price ranges of the products. The difference with Jeld-Wen is that poor quality and poor inspection are apparent and consistent throughout the different price ranges of its products. After returning this piece of garbage I looked at the higher price range of Jeld-Wen exterior doors and the poor quality was still there. The Good: Low Price The Bad: The door is warped. I don't know if this happened during the manufacturing of the door or during the warehousing and shipping of the door. It doesn't matter; there's no excuse for it. The security plate is poorly installed. Is the assembly line machinery misaligned or if it is manually attached is the installer losing his or her sight? Poor installation of the door against the frame and/or weatherstripping. The door is very tight against the weatherstripping at the bottom and barely touching the weatherstripping at the top. Again, there's no excuse for this. Poor installation of one of the hinges. The recessed area for one of the hinge plates wasn't milled properly; it's not large enough, resulting in the bottom of the hinge plate resting on the frame instead of in the recessed area. Does Jeld-Wen inspect their products before thy're released for shipping? Apparently not. Poor hinge screw installation. EVERY SINGLE SCREW was installed crooked. Seriously, how can this not be noticed during the manufacturing process, why isn't there any quality control to guard against something like this happening and why doesn't Jeld-Wen care? Gouged door frame. The door frame was gouged in three different locations. I don't care is this happened during the manufacturing, warehousing and/or shipping processes or if it happened after the door was delivered to Home Depot. There's absolutely no excuse for this happening and there's no excuse for it not being discovered before the door was offered for sale to the consumer. If it happened during the manufacturing process the frame should have been discarded. If it happened during the warehousing or shipping processes it's due to a lack of appropriate protection of the door and frame to prevent this from happening. If it arrived at Home Depot with such damage Home Depot should have rejected it. If it happened at Home Depot, which I seriously doubt, Home Depot should have reduced the price by at least half. I didn't ask for a discount for two reasons. One, I didn't notice the damage when I bought it so I can't expect Home Depot to give me a discount when I returned it and two, I don't want this piece of garbage. Damaged door panel. I should have noticed this at the time of purchase so I accept responsibility for it, even though the damage did not occur when I transported the door to my home or when I moved it into the garage. I really like purchasing products at Home Depot because they usually have what I want, their prices are competitive and they treat their customers with respect by offering a good return policy. Nevertheless, since Jeld-Wen is the only brand of exterior pre-hung door offered at my local Home Depot I'll have to buy one elsewhere. I've already decided to purchase a more expensive door so that I can avoid the problems associated with low-priced doors, regardless of the brand, and I expect to pay at least four times the amount I paid for this door. Again, you get what you pay for. I have attached photos so that everyone can see just how substandard Jeld-Wen pre-hung exterior doors are. I inspected the other Jeld-Wen doors when I returned this one and I could not find a single Jeld-Wen pre-hung exterior door that wasn't either damaged or poorly manufactured. I can't recommend any Jeld-Wen pre-hung exterior door to anyone and I would give this zero stars if I could. I've been working in the residential, commercial and industrial construction trades for fifty years, the vast majority of those years as a cement finisher, and I'm known for the excellent quality of my work so I'm very aware of what is quality work and what is not quality work. I've seen hundreds of door installations on the hundreds of different jobs I've been on so I'm very aware of what constitutes a quality door and a cheap, inferior door. If I produced such inferior quality work as that associated with this Jeld-Wen pre-hung exterior door I would have to give up my self-respect and dignity. I have attached photos that clearly show the shoddy workmanship and extremely poor quality of this door. If you purchase this door after reading my review and the reviews of others who have recognized the poor quality of this door you will have no right to complain. Shame on you, Jeld-Wen, for producing and selling such garbage. Don't waste your time replying to my review because I'm no longer interested in any of your products. Instead, I suggest that you concentrate on doing something about the poor manufacturing of your doors, the lack of any quality control and the lack of appropriate protection for your pre-hung exterior doors once they leave the assembly area. Is this a scathing review? Yes it is, and it's the exact type of review this door deserves.

Simple beautiful! Strongly made!

A good door. A strong and well built entry way. Easy to install and not expensive. It is ready to be installed, framed and ready to go!!

I purchased two 30" Jeld-Wen exterior doors and it will be the last two I ever purchase. The inserts on the thresh-hold were stripped and it had to be removed and modified to allow the door to close, more than half of the brickmold nails missed the jams and the top piece of brick mold was 1/2" to long and was misaligned with the jams, (hence why the nails missed) I had to remove it and cut it down to make it work, 6 of the hinge screws were stripped and all of them were inserted at an angle. What would normally take me about 20 minutes to install, took me over two hours because I had to disassemble and repair the door. I would have returned them but it was a 4 hour drive, one way to the store I purchased them at. Jeld-Wen should be ashamed of the product they sell.

Works fine, does the job

Works great ! Couldn’t get from my local HD but drove an hour to another store and got it . Person at HD in Berlin Maryland said he could order me one for $500. I’m not real thrilled with that
