This sink is beautiful, but my installer says it's too heavy and too difficult to reinforce. He says the weight can crack my stone even if I install it as a drop in. I am trying to find out how I can reinforce the cabinet so the stone does not take the weight of the sink but it seems I will have to go with stainless steel, which I hate. I was very disappointed that this sink is so heavy and that installers are afraid of dealing with it.

Hi Liz, this is Laura with Kohler Co. I am sorry your installer is reluctant to install this sink. This sink weighs 70 lbs. which is not a particularly heavy sink as it is only 24" wide, left to right. The installation guide shows how to install this sink correctly as an under-mount or top-mount sink. If installing as an under-mount, the kit K-5807-NA should be used or a wood frame should be constructed. This is also included in the installation guide. I fell in love with this sink at the store and purchased it for my remodel. The solid surface (Corian-type) had to be taken back and recut for the sink opening because I wanted undermount -no easy task!. Directions with the sink are incorrect for this type of installation (Kohler's fault -not Home Depot). My local company that did that and had the counter top back in 2 days. I loved my new sink in my new kitchen. The original sink from 1947 was still in the kitchen when I remodeled in 2012 and was in better condition after 65 years than the Kohler sink within 1 year.
The sink surface is totally ruined -scratched and wearing. I have been very careful in protecting it and use non-abrasive cleaners. I thought a Kohler sink would last; oh, so wrong. Again, Kohler's fault -not Home Depot. Not worth the cost. I do not recommend purchasing Kohler if you think you are getting better quality. Perhaps Home Depot could stop carrying this brand.

Hello DK, my name is Sarah with Kohler Co. I am sorry to hear you are having a problem with your sink. The installation instructions for under mounting this sink is separate from the Installation Guide and should have been included in the under mount installation kit. We would like to explain the KOHLER Cast Iron material. Cast Iron scratches are caused by metal objects striking the enameled surface. Most commonly, these are marks from aluminum pots and pans that look like scratches. However, they do not penetrate the enameled surface and can be cleaned. A wearing or “dull” look on the finish is most likely caused by hard water and can also be shined using a cleaner such as Bar Keepers Friend or KOHLER Cast Iron cleaner. The cleaner can be applied to the affected areas and scrubbed using a cork. Using a cork allows you to apply more pressure than possible using a cloth or sponge. Let stand 10 minutes and rinse thoroughly. Please contact our Customer Service team by email at KohlerCustServ@kohler.com. We’re happy to send you a sample of KOHLER Cast Iron cleaner. Best sink ever!
Perfect sink without holes to totally customize your look! Nice and deep as an undermount. Placed garbage disposal in the small sink basin. Sink divider is set liw, making it easier to scub pans. Great to have a large basin to fill big pots! Love it!!!

Beautiful sink
We ended up doing an under-mount with this sink, so needed to add 2x4s to the underside for additional support (as this sink is about 70 lbs and our contractor said the mounting clips it came with would not be enough). But I'm really happy with this purchase. The sink is absolutely gorgeous. Overall I would recommend this sink if you're looking for a classic white cast-iron sink - it's perfect!

Home Depot to the rescue!
Ordered this sink in the Lake Forest store on Sept. 2 and it was delivered to my home in 2 days. Unfortunately it was defective and getting a replacement took 2 weeks due to mishandling by the delivery company (not the fault of Home Depot but I would strongly advise they find a different delivery company). Sadly, the second sink was also defective and now we were up against a timeline for countertop installation. Alex, the store manager, and Clint from the plumbing department got involved and ordered replacements sent to the store stat, where they were able to inspect and get me a first quality beautiful sink. They actually brought the third sink to my house and picked up both of the defective sinks. The new sink is as beautiful and well made as you would expect with the name Kohler and we are looking forward to getting it installed.

Just what I wanted!
The white enamel is beautiful and I love the offset drain. When you walk by you don't see that in case it is dirty. Very suprised and happy with that feature.

My sink is simply beautiful
My recent kitchen facelift was enhanced with my sparkling white porcelain sink. The only challenge is to keep it sparkling. The helpful staff recommended using Soft Scrub and I just discovered Bartenders Friend in a liquid form and it seems to do the trick.
There was a slight mix-up with the shipping but HD staff promptly solved the problem. I'm so happy!

What I wish I knew before I ordered
This is a self-rimming sink which can be undermounted but there is a quarter of an inch gap all the way around that is filled with glue, not like a true undermount sink. My countertop people had to add extra support for the weight. Also, other reviews had mentioned how easily cast iron sinks marks up. So I got the mats and all to lay on the bottom, but a cookie sheet was laid in the sink and left a mark on either side. They are very small spots and most people would not notice them but you have to be very careful. I like the SmartDivide, as I wasn't sure if I wanted a single or double bowl. And since the one side is a little smaller it doesn't allow drying dishes to stack up.

Great product for the price.
This iron sink is great! It was easy for the installers to install & the best part is it does not scratch! It also does not mark from dark pots/pans. Very easy to maintain.
