LEVITON 3.6 AMP USB DUAL TYPE A IN-WALL CHARGER WITH 15 AMP TAMPER-RESISTANT OUTLETS, LIGHT GRAY: I found this unit easy to install, however, it is larger that most receptacles it is replacing because of the transformer. Remember to get a matching decora cover plate to finish your install. I used this in the kitchen to clear up some "cord clutter" where everyone charges their cell phones and tablets but I found that depending on what else is plugged into the AC outlets they may block the USB slots. This is a minor inconvenience when considering the space gained when all the other accessory charging devices are no longer on the counter.

The Leviton TR outlet with x2 USB chargers is super nice. Both charging ports are rated for 3.6 amps which will provide more than power to quickly charge your phone or tables. It's pretty heavy for a wall outlet so I assume it is made with quality parts and is safe. Installation was easy and is very similar to to your basic outlet install. I would say it only took me maybe 5 minuets for the whole process (removal and install) of the swap. It may cost a bit more than your generic outlets, but this is a brand that has been around for a while and I have never had any issue with any of their products when it comes it electrical. A bit more price for quality = peace of mind. Also, their are clear instructions included in case you are stuck or haven't done this before.

This outlet is a great choice for a home office. I like that there were a nice amount of color choices. Initially, I didn't think this outlet would make a big difference, but paired with the Leviton 1-Gang Duplex Outlet Screwless Wall Plate, Light Gray (1-Pack), it gives a very professional look to the room. It was straightforward and easy to install, especially if you've installed other outlets before. BUT, be warned, these outlets are much larger than traditional ones. I was able to install this outlet with no major adjustments, but if there were a lot of wires, or the outlet was in a tight space it might be a challenge. I love the look of this outlet and its versatility.

ever want to charge your phone without having to find your power adapter? or just have a convenient way to charge your phone in a frequented spot like the kitchen? an outlet like this is an easy upgrade that accomplishes those things. you don't realize how handy it is until you install it and find yourself using it over and over again. installation like any outlet is easy enough that anyone can do it safely. the hardest part might be finding the correct breaker to turn off power to that branch circuit. and even then you should test to confirm power isn't flowing. when in doubt trip the master breaker and kill power to everything if you aren't 100 percent sure. after installing this outlet i was able to charge my wife's kindle without having to track down a converter or use our computer. plus it is next to our counter so she can watch shows while cooking or charge her phone. my only complaint is the snap on outlet cover. sure it gives a cleaner look but if you have to remove the cover more than a couple times they can wear out quickly.

Added 2 in a double box when I recently remodeled my kitchen. Made a 5 ft stainless steel prep area over a base cabinet. No more chargers needed in this area. Now have 4 USB ports for charging tablets or phones in this area. There are 4 more USB ports in 2 other kitchen areas. Useful when we are using a recipe from our tablets or visitors need a charger.

Installed and so far the outlet is working great. The addition of the USB ports makes connecting devices in the living room look a lot cleaner. Also, noticed the devices charge faster than using a USB cord adapter. This outlet is compatible with the Leviton Decora screw less cover plate (the product details don't specifically tell you this).

I discovered the receptacle is UL Listed. I couldn’t find it listed on the packaging. I used a USB multimeter & found 4.9 to 5.0v output even under a load. Installation was easy. The box had enough room. With cover plate in place the receptacle is attractive.

The pictures speak for themselves. Usb doesn't fit with two plugs in. Waste of $$.

contrary to the reviews that had problems with the usb portion of the outlet, i didn't have any. i've been able to recharge my phone, cordless water floss, bicycle lights, and mp3 player i tested the outlets with the Commercial Electric Outlet Tester with GFCI (ms102h), and they all tested correct there was only the cosmetic appearance of the outlet not flushing with the Leviton Decora Nylon Wall Plate, but this may be the fault of the installer. i'm sure there's an install method to get them to flush, but it didn't happen here

Purchased it because of the USB ports. Works great. Easy install even for a non electrician like myself.

This usb outlet is big You need a deep box to install it to have enough space. The charger works fast on recharging batteries. I am glad I installed it.

This works fantastic as an outlet in my bedroom for charging my phone at night, and installation is generally no different from any other outlet. As a note to DIY electricians who have not installed things like this (charger outlets, GFCIs, dimmer switches, etc), always check your outlet box first. Some outlet boxes are used as junctions so they'll have extra wires that may make fitting this in a single gang box difficult. An overstuffed box is a potential fire risk so always keep it in mind.

Easy to install. Be sure to buy a decora plate to go with the plug. Quick charging with the 2A in each plug. A definite must for kitchen island, bed side plugs , bathroom counter, office wall plugs. I purchased the 20A T shaped vs 15A normal electricity plug because my house circuits were 20A rated and wanted to be able conform to the electric system I had. 15A plug combo outlet are available too and should do as well.

Did the job with the exception of my portable phone plug only went in one one the recepticles because it was to big.

The outlet works great and provides plenty of power in the USB ports. It was a tight fit in my electrical box, which I assume is a standard size box. This is the only negative thing I can say. Otherwise, it was easy to install and seems to be well built. I charged my cell phone using the USB port built into the outlet and it took the exact same amount of time as it does using the charger that came with the phone. I recommend this outlet.

Bought this outlet 2 months ago at local HD. First days I was happy and satisfied with the product, but later outlet start making terrible noise. Gotta get it back for refund.

The USB charging system is faster than I expected. Now the all important cell phone charging can occur right from my BBQ island!

Simple, basic, outlet swap. Took more time to turn breaker of and on that to actually swap the outlets. This is very convenient. I have 3 kids in the house and charging cubes vanish every day. With this it is easy to access and the cube is not needed.

I’ll start my review by mentioning I AM NOT AN ELECTRICIAN but have installed plenty of outlets, switches, lights, and fans so figured this would go smoothly. Well, the install was simple enough so I turned the breaker box back on and used my socket voltage pen to test. I tested the hot side of the receptacle and the pen illuminated and beeped as it should. I then touched it to the neutral side expecting nothing to happen but it lit up and beeped again. Then I used my outlet tester which showed the hot and neutral currents were reversed. Maybe I did something wrong so I turned off the breaker and took out the receptacle, I had connected just as the wiring diagram states. I then put back my old style duplex outlet and turned the breaker back on, the pen didn’t illuminate over the neutral side and the outlet tester showed two green lights which means all was correct. I’m not sure if these new receptacles are supposed to work that way but if they are, I found nothing on the internet saying that; only people warning saying don’t do that. Needless to say (hopefully needless), I’m not going to be installing that receptacle again. I hope Leviton responds to this post with suggestions or possible fixes because I really would like to use this seemingly handy receptacle. Or maybe mine is just faulty?

These outlets will charge the fast charge batteries in the newer smartphones with the higher amperage fast charge batteries like Galaxy S9 and Google Pixel_2. Not recommend for the older smartphones that have slow charging batteries as these outlets have a 3.8 amp output.

This is a nice receptacle that provides also two USB charger ports. Made very well, and I noticed several things when I was installing this. 1) The receptacle has alot of depth compared to a regular receptacle. See the pic. So If you have a small outlet box, you may have some difficulty in fitting this in, or you may need to install a deeper box. 2) The screws are only on one side of the outlet receptacle. (See pic), So it would be good if you at at the end of the power line supply instead of replacing for one that is in between, where you would have 4 lines running into the box. Yes, you can, but I think it will be cramp unless you have a deep box. 3) You will need to have available a "Decor" or what they also call a GFCI cover, since a regular duplex outlet plate will not work. Other than that, its an excellent product from Leviton. Also make sure you color coordinate your outlet that matches or complements your room color. It comes in various colors like Almond, Brown, Ivory and Gray. Or the wife will ask you to go back and get a color that matches the room.

USB outlets are a must in today’s world. We already have one of these installed in our kitchen and got this for a second one. There are many options she when it comes to USB outlets but you have to be careful when your buying because they are NOT all the same. One of the best features of this outlet is that it gives two ports without giving up one of you standard outlets. But what’s more important, and usually over looked, is amperage for the USB chargers. The Leviton outlet delivers 3.6 amps to the USB chargers. Why is this important? You can charge two devises simultaneously. Most of the other outlets I’ve looked at only deliver 1.8 amps or less. Most of your larger devises, like tablets, will pull more amps when charging. This is why the iPad comes with a larger wall adapter that is rated at 2.1 amps opposed to the iPhone charger which is only 1 amp. That means if you try and charge two devices they will have to share the provided amps. So if you charge two devices at the same time with 3.6 amps they will charge like they normally would, where as if they only have 1.8 amps to share they will charge much slower. Install is slightly different then a normal outlet. All the wires go on one side into a clamp style screw bracket but still fairly easy. They can be a but of a pain to get back into the outlet box because they are larger than your standard outlet. They color is brown but is a lot closer to black.
