Installed on metal back gate and though was perfectly aligned and followed instructions exactly, the locking mechanism doesnt work. Unreliable lock, would get caught, locking mechanism wouldn’t engage, poor quality. Plastic and seemed very easy for someone to break it off if they wanted to. People, we are paying ~$100 for plastic. This was installed by my landscaper in June 2021. Today is Feb 2022 and the wind broke both side of this lock (and it is 60 degrees). Button rarely worked prior - run.

Extremely well made and superior quality to traditional gate latch mechanisms. I must admit I had to study the installation and also found an instruction video online to see how the pieces generally fit together. The problem I had was my gate opening is reversed from the printed installation instructions, in fact reverse from any online videos. Before I started drilling holes in my gate and fence post I set up a small test bed in my workshop, which matched my gate opening, so I could see how all the pieces went together. Once I completed the mock-up it was easy to transfer the same installation to my actual gate/fence post. Overall, this is a high quality gate latch, very well built and operates smoothly. It has a traditional type of house key to operate the lock, rather than a generic key that fits all latches.

With a LIFETIME warranty how can you go wrong? Yes it looks plastic, but stronger than that. This unit will fit well on a 4 x 4 wood post gate. It would not work on a metal 2 x 2 post attached to a block fence. They have another one for that. The magnetic latch works well. Then you can use the key from both sides to LOCK it. When closing gate, when it gets close, it latches. Great setup.

I purchased two of these locks The key stopped working 6 weeks after installation. I was locked out and had to call the locksmith on my first gate, now the second gate key is getting sticky. Definitely returning to HD asap.

It was very finicky to get the lock to work properly. It is a good design concept but I am disappointed in the quality for such a high price.

Nicely built hardware very strong and it works well

Lock looks great. I bought two. One works very well. The other worked for two days and now the ss bar will not engage so it will no close completely nor will it lock. In comparing the two identical locks, it is obvious that internal is sticking which prevents the ss bar from engaging. Difficult to move the bar manually. Disappointing for an item nearly $100!

Purchased 2 of these gate locks and am very displeased with them. They were installed by professional fence/gate installer. The key does not work properly and there is difficulty in locking/unlocking. Documentation provided with the locks is only for installation - not operation. Contacted manufacturer and received a short reply that did not help. I plan to return both of them.

It's one of those things where it's really tricky the first time, but the second time you can prob install perfect Also worth noting, you need a 1/2" drill bit (not incl with most bit sets). I accidentally drilled a hole into the post instead of the gate and couldn't help but think "why isn't there warnings for this on the instrux, or on the plastic align tool?" The button sticks when you press it from the inside, and when the gate closes, there's still a rattle that I was hoping to alleviate.

Difficult to turn the locking mechanism, key broke off in lock. Don't waste you money.

I purchased this for vinyl gates since it states that it's suitable for vinyl square post gate. However due to the pliability of vinyl fence surface, the handle "gives" and the mechanism does not easily catch or open. Also, the included screws are not suitable for vinyl. This latch should work well if used on a solid gate like metal or wood, but not on vinyl. I'm going to change to something more simple. Waste of money.

Before purchasing i read the reviews and knew this purchase would be a risk based off previous reviews. Install wasn’t easy. The same day we installed the latch we tried taking it off to return it however we did not think we would be able to remove it without the latch breaking. Sometimes it was hard to push open. The lock started out working only half the time and once locked we had a lot of trouble getting it to unlock. We only used the latch for 5 months before one side stopped locking completely.

Latch is strong and reliable

The screws don't hold long enough. The latch doesn't catch unless perfectly, and I mean _perfectly_ aligned. The thumb button sticks. And the mechanisms that hold it all together don't last, causing everything to loosen and pull away. We are already looking for a new lock within a year.

I ordered this lock and it came in fairly quickly. At first glance it seems like a really nice lock. It feels light but not cheap. Install was a bit tricky, but my teenage son and I got it done in about an hour. The problem with the lock is that we were not able to lock it from inside and outside the gate. I emailed customer service and they asked for pictures of the lock installed. We sent them in and they sent a replacement lock overnight express. I got the new lock and followed the installation instructions again as if this was my first time doing it. Just like the first time, I could not lock it from both sides. The lock latches fine and the push button to open the gate from the outside is a little stiff. I will keep the newest one installed until I can find another alternative. Don't buy this lock.
