It fit my small counter space perfectly. It does the job at warming up food. And I grin every time I see it because it is very adorable.

Adorable!
I only use microwaves on occasion to warm up leftovers. This little cutie does it’s job without taking up too much space in my rather small kitchen.

It's adorable, but that's not the only reason to love it. The round corners make it easy to move and pleasant to work around. The simple controls are a delight compared to the over-engineered digital buttons you can't get away from nowadays. We all have other clocks that update their own time now, so who needs a clock that has to be reset every time there's a power outage? Like other reviewers, I wish the light stayed on when you open the door, but given the price, overall build quality, and the fact it includes a turntable, I can't complain. It's the perfect size to make tea/coffee or heat up a meal, fits perfectly on top of a mini fridge, and the color is very attractive (more intense of a green than my phone camera captures.) In this difficult time, a personal microwave is added reassurance and I don't regret buying this one at all.

It is just the right size for counter space. We were worried about its power output but it has been impressive. This guy does all the jobs as well as my old 1000W over the range microwave did. Best of all, no more hot soups over my head! It has no chemical smell from Day 1 which is great. My 10" microwave lid/cover from a Swedish furniture store still fits in the inner space. It is so cute and the white finish goes with everything.

I thought it would match the Magic Chef Refrigerator but unfortunately it's not a perfect match. Very close but I ended up not being able to put the microwave on top of the fridge because then I could tell the colors were not perfect. I was able to put it very close to the fridge, though, and no one can tell. Works great. I get complements on it all the time (I have it in my office at work). I work in a nursing home so the retro look is quite a hit!

Cute little retro microwave. I like that it has a small footprint in my small kitchen of this 1966 ranch. Simple dials with settings for defrost, one bell and not noisy. The only reasons for taking one star were: I wish the light came on when you open the door. It only comes on while in use; The way the turntable attaches is flimsy. lastly, my last one this size fit a dinner plate, this does not. Regardless of those issues, it does what I need it to do - Defrost, reheat coffee and warm food.

I'm happy with this microwave, so far. I have only had this a few weeks, but I feel pleased with. I've not had a lot of usage yet, but find it works properly, cooks well. (It's why the 4 stars, just since I have not had long). It appears very well-made and you can see that the Retro design and color is attractive, the smooth, outer finish is lovely. I found I have not cared for OTHER units with lots of buttons or having to determine settings. What I LIKE about this one as some have stated, is the lack of bells and whistles, such as a clock, lots of timer buttons and several loud beeps to indicate doneness. This unit just has a dial for cooking level and one for minutes. For an older person like myself, it is simple to use, without electronic settings and sounding one "ding" when done. (The dials, though nicely designed, are in a dark color, so I have at times used a small flashlight when setting minutes). The one thing I feel is lacking is having a light turn on when opening to place an item in or when removing, although a light comes on to view while cooking. What needs to be remembered is that with frozen items that state cooking times based upon 1100 or 1200 Watt units, you will need to add some minutes for, otherwise items will be undercooked in a 700-Watt unit like this. I was prepared for this though and printed out a conversion chart for this purpose and are only a few minutes more for each time set. If just melting or reheating an item from the fridge, it does so quickly. If one seeks something being simplified and good looking, I recommend this. This is more like my first microwave that I had for numerous years and will hopefully have this one and be pleased with for years to come.

I first bought the red retro fridge...loved it so much that I ordered the red microwave. The two reds are a mile apart..If I knew that in advance, I would have ordered white. If your looking for a close match in color, don't get the reds. Too bad the Chinese can't get the two to match.

Very cool retro styled microwave oven by Magic Chef. The .7 cu. ft. size is ample enough for any small kitchen. It operates well and quieter than my older unit. I like the turn dial type controls which always seem to last longer than digital displays which when they go bad you're better off just getting a new unit instead of trying to fix. I like the 7 power levels which is important especially when reheating food so you don't over cook it when there's only one setting for high output.

The Magic Chef Retro 0.7 cu. ft. Countertop Microwave is sleek, stylish and easy to use. The simplistic retro design with its smooth handle, knobs, and pretty numbers is what makes this countertop microwave a standout. It even has the retro "ding" like the first microwaves and toaster ovens. It is the perfect microwave for a little apartment or dorm room since it takes up a tiny bit of counter space, (recommend clicking on the user manual link on the product page for exact measurements), and setup is a simple. Just plug in and go. The instructions for the entire microwave are easy to understand. The interior light is bright making it easy to see your food and the cooking settings could not be any easier. Just turn the knob to the level of temperature and cook time you need. We tested heating up mini cinnamon rolls and they cooked exactly to the directions on the box. One draw back is the door takes a little force to open. Since this is a countertop microwave you may have to hold the microwave in place when opening the door or it can slide a bit on some counters. Regardless of that one small issue the Magic Chef Retro Microwave is a hit around here.

This is the perfect microwave for dorm rooms, RVs, and any small kitchen. The retro design and the white finish will look good anywhere. The 0.7 cu ft capacity is big enough for popcorn, entrees and other dishes, and even at 700 watts it is quick. There is a dial timer for up to 30 minutes, and a dial for watt selection. The timer is not as acurate for short periods as a digital timer. Overall, this little microwave may not be enough for a big family, but would make a perfect gift for a student in a dorm room.

This is an attractive little microwave that is good for your basic heating/re-heating. Its a very simple design without any bells and whistles. There is a power setting knob with 7 different settings including a defrost. The settings range from 120W to 700W. There is a timer setting knob with settings from 1 to 10 minutes in 1 minute increments, then up to 35 minutes in 5 minute increments. Being a very basic/retro design, the dial for time settings is not exact. Its pretty accurate down to a minute, but setting a time less than that, like 30 seconds, is much less accurate. Because there is no digital counter, you can only see where the knob is to estimate how much time is left. This is understandable given its basic/retro design, but this is the only reason I did not give it 5 stars. There is a typical glass plate inside and a roller guide that rotates the food as it cooks. There is also a light inside so you can see the food while it is cooking. I use this in my office for heating up lunch and reheating coffee. It provides all the basics I need and I find the design very attractive.

This lovely little red "retro" countertop microwave oven is a nice size at 0.7 cubic feet for most counter tops. Great for small apartments or your office to heat up lunch. The knobs are a very neat retro design as is the viewing window. A glass microwave plate is included. The plate rotates for efficient cooking and heating. Simple design and cool looks make this a recommended product.

We really put this microwave through its paces. I took it to work where most of the employees are under 25 and just not careful with any microwave and it held up beautifully (daily I could hear its door being slammed from the next room). First off, the color is just plain pretty (soft aqua) and has a fun retro vibe which looks cute on the counter. The provided glass plate (9.5” diameter) rotates as the microwave is cooking. It is only 700 watts (120 – 700) so it doesn’t cook as fast as the high wattage ones BUT it also doesn’t burn food unless you leave your items in for an extended period of time. It is perfect for softening a stick of butter without putting a melting hole in it and you can warm up a sandwich without damaging it. The maximum power is 700 watts and the maximum cooking time is 35 minutes. When the timer is done, it has an old fashioned metallic “ding” to indicate the end of the cycle which I find pleasant compared to the electronic ping of other microwaves – another cool retro touch. There are just 2 knobs; it couldn’t be simpler. Do you ever use all those settings on your microwave? I don’t. The top dial is for power; the bottom for time. The power knob clicks with each increment and the bottom knob turns smoothly. If you are cooking for less than 2 minutes, you turn the dial past 2 and then dial it down to the lesser time. My measurements show the inside is 11” X 10” and 7” tall, so it’s big enough for a regular sized dinner plate (10”) and a pic shows one of the larger take out trays inside. I have only 2 complaints: #1- it didn’t sit flat and I had to put folder paper under one corner to keep it from rocking. I don’t know if they all do that or it’s just the one I got. Neither the packing box nor the box for the microwave itself was damaged so I don’t know why it doesn’t sit flat. #2 – I wish the markings on the dial had more contrast. Most people won’t have an issue with this but I have found that as my eyes have aged (I’m 62), I need a greater contrast. None of the younger people at work had a problem with it.

This is a really cute microwave that adds some interest to a kitchen area. At 12" deep by 17.5" wide, it's small enough to fit on just about any cabinet or desk with space leftover. The inside is large enough to accommodate most any mug or bowl, but it's not large enough to fit an entire dinner plate inside. It's ideal for heating up lunch items at the office, which is where I'm using mine. The retro controls are a fun feature and has proven to be of interest to many of my coworkers. However, while they're super cute, the rounded knob makes it a little difficult to be super precise when setting the time. Again though, not really a huge deal if you're just heating up lunch items and such. It comes with 7 different wattage settings, which is nice. I've discovered that 1 minute on the 6th setting is perfect for heating up a small cup of ravioli. My only complaint is that it might be nice for the cord to be a little longer - it was almost too short to make it to the outlet in my office. All in all, I don't know that I'd recommend this for your sole household microwave, but for a dorm, office or lounge area, it's perfect!

First off, this is an extremely cool looking microwave. It's a welcome change from all the stainless steel or black appliances. It's not very large so you can't cook huge dishes in it. There is no clock or digital controls. It's all old school. You adjust one dial for strength and the other dial for the timer. If you're looking for exact time, don't bother. My only grip is that there are no rubber feet so it slides on my granite countertop when I open or close the door. I added a rubber anti-slip pads where the feet should be.

The retro microwave is fun to use. I appreciate the fact that there is no digital clock - yeah! After all, how many times do I need to be reminded what is the time? Manufacturers should get a clue like this one. I think, when there is a power blinking or outage problem, resetting digital clocks is a nuisance. I really like the turning knobs versus the press/push settings. Works great.

good for a Dorm , Single Person or Small Office. this unit has 2 Dials - 1 has Roman numerals for your power settings and defrost setting , a 2nd dial that is a 35 minute cooking timer . this unit will accept a round plate up to 11 1/4 inch's across .the glass turn table rotates as the microwave is cooking. the unit I received is warped on the bottom and rocks. I had to place some cardboard under the right rear to keep it from rocking on my counter or table. the painted finish is nice , the interior light is bright to see your food as it cooking. the Manual is very resourceful for cooking directions .

I absolutely love this microwave... The design style is awesome; retro yet modern. The color is totally cool; bright red. The size is perfect for a dorm, finished basement, apartment, or if you just want a smaller microwave for your kitchen. Because of it's size, it's easy to hide in a cabinet if you prefer a cluster free countertop. I was impressed with the overall quality of the construction. It was heavier and more durable than I anticipated. I should have known that being a Magic Chef, the quality would be high. Overall, this microwave is better than I expected. 5 stars all the way..

One more item added to my "Hurricane Prepared" arsenal. I chose this for its light weight, low power consumption, mechanical only control (less chance of damage from generator spikes) and of course low replacement cost for worse case scenarios. My "arsenal" already includes a 15 gallon hot water heater, 5000 BTU bedroom air conditioner (again with mechanical only control), and a countertop icemaker since I have no interest in generator powering a refrigerator 24/7 for days on end. Aside from being impossibly cute, I was impressed by the extensive manual it comes with guides for cooking techniques, recipes etc. Having said that, its best use is probably for occasional use in maybe a dorm or recreation room since it does not appear to be heavy duty in any sense of the word and lacks the precision capabilities one would expect from a major kitchen appliance.
