Milwaukee FASTBACK Compact Folding Utility Knife. This is a nice knife. It has a belt clip and a locking button on the side. The side button allows you to close this knife while the fingers are clear of the blade. It can easily be flipped open with one hand which will make it easy to use. No tools are required to replace the blade. All in all, several great features for something as simple as a knife.

This is a very handy utility knife set. Its good quality and well made. They are compact and easy to hang on your pocket or belt loop. The button easily depresses to open the blade and close it. I started opening boxes immediately Both have good grip handles and made cutting a breeze. These are handy, always usable utility knives to keep around. I recommend them highly

I guess you can never have too many utility knives, especially when you run across these Milwaukee Fastbacks. The two-pack comes with a full-size model that has room to store five additional blades and a compact version that my wife has decided she likes, very much. For years I have removed the extending/retracting button on my standard utility knives so the blade couldn't accidentally be extended or retracted. With Milwaukee's design you have to want to perform either function, a real safety improvement. The body of the full-size one appears to be aluminum, while the compact model is a high-quality plastic with metal backing. Both are excellent examples of beautiful fit and finish. Other features to consider are the wire belt clip, the "press and flip" opening, the quick change blade, and, what they call a "blade holder for scoring", which I am unable to explain. Anyway, my grandson asked Santa for a pocket knife. If he wasn't only four I'd get him one of these!

These are very durable! A box-cutter they are not! They are more! This really is a utility knife! You get two sets of blades inside their own retractable holder. One is just a cutter. The other comes with a section that can hold up to 5 replacement blades. I can't see anyone needing to switch out the blades that often unless you go to town on this cutter. There is an area where you can easily cut twine, use it as a box cutter. trim down cardboard or just the need to trim something off. They are very easy to work with the a button that allows for a release of the blade arm to come out of its holder. Also, there is a belt clip for these too. So if you area person that uses this type of tool a lot on your job, you can carry them with you and not have them in your pocket. to remove the blade. You will just press on the button that allows for the release. To remove/replace has been made easier than any other type of utility knife I have see -- and so safe that you will not accidentally cut yourself in the process. They can be outside of your pants on a belt loop. It even has a hole if you wanted to wear it like a lanyard. The directions on the back, even though this product is fairly self-explanatory is super fine print and very difficult to read. Extra blades are not included.

Great knives. I love how they fold up and act sort of like a proper folding knife but have the replaceable blade. They have a nice little clip so you can clip in your pocket or wherever you want. There is a little notch so you can cut rope or cord without opening the blade. The swinging action on the folding part of the blade is nice and free so you literally swings if you hold the button down. Both knives are solidly built, or so it feels. They look great too.

Very sturdy and well made and designed utility knife set. I have other utility knives that I am always misplacing so I picked these up to make sure I always have one where and when I need one: car, office, shop/garage, tool box; however, once I opened the pack and felt these in my hand I was hooked on these being my primary utility knives. The knives are well made and have a great heft to them; they fit well in my hand and using it I feel no fear of my hand slipping down the shaft and onto the blade, due to the cutout on the handle that allows your finger to wrap around the handle (this feature is in both the larger utility knife as well as the compact one). The push button, ‘flick open’ feature is very useful and allows you to open and close the knives one handed and the button has enough resistance that opening or closing it accidentally is highly unlikely if not almost impossible. The knives are very sturdy and durable and barring loss I expect to have and use for many years. The larger of the two utility knives had on-board storage for up to 5 replacement blades (note that extra blades are NOT included); the storage arm folds securely inside the handle. Replacing blades on the knives is a little harder than on other utility knives I own, simply because the tab/button you have to push to change blades (which you really have to push) is below a metal extension that is there to prevent accidental blade removal; still, no tools are required and blade changes are pretty quick and I do not see how blades could ever come out accidentally with the FASTBACK design. Finally, the larger knife has built in string cutters both in the folded knife and on the blade shaft, making some of the things I use the knives for (like cutting string trimmer line or fishing line) MUCH safer. The compact knife does not have this particular feature. An outstanding knife set; highly recommended and a great gift for the handyman or woman in your life…or just for you!

I received the Milwaukee FASTBACK Folding Utility Knife Set (2-Piece) yesterday. I like these because they are very solidly made, they feel very strong and nice to hold. I like the way they lock open and shut which give you a good feeling that it will not close on you fingers. Razor knife can be very dangerous if you are not careful and these knifes help you do that.

Got these folding utility knives to have around the house for do it yourselfer. The knives fold very nicely so if your doing a project can fold them and keep them in your pocket for later use. I was a little confused about replacing the blades, took me a few minutes to figure out the blade replacement, Hope the picture shows the knob to push down to get the new blade in. Once I figured it out no problem.. and yes not instructions, but these were pretty easy to put in a new, seems very secure in the holder. Like these knives.

I have a variety of folding utilities knives and most of them have a blade release that is easily triggered while using the knife causing the blade to come loose. The Milwaukee design has the button in a location that prevents accidental triggering. This set comes with two knives. The larger one can hold five spare blades and features gut hook/wire stripper openings. One functions when the knife is open the other when closed. I tried it on a CAT5E cable jacket and found I needed to apply very light pressure on the cable. Otherwise, the blade would cut through the jacket and the conductor insulation nicking the conductors. Both knives are all metal (the red case metal is not attracted to magnets) and have a finger grip area and lanyard attachments. In the larger knife the blades are held in by a small magnet. The press and flip mechanism works but it takes some getting used to. One must hold the button during the full flip until the blade comes to its resting place then let go. The timing is critical. If you let go of the button too soon, friction is placed on the mechanism and it does not fully open/lock into place. If you release the button too late, the blade can hit the end stop and start heading back toward closed resulting in another not fully open/locked into place situation. Both knives also have wire belt clips. The set includes 50 blades which slide out of the holder easily. The holder can also accept the used blades at the top. The blades are very sharp and easily cut through some cardboard boxes I was breaking down. Overall, I like the knives, they fit well in my hand and they cut great.

I had the older versions in my tool boxes/bags and somehow they walked away. I think its because of the quality built of these utility knives, so I got these to replace them. They maintain the high quality built and versatility. The red body is easy to see and I think it is metal too, so I consider that to be more durable There are two sizes and style. Both have push the button to release the blade end to swing open. It is not spring loaded. The smaller one is basically a single blade utility knife, with no extra blade holder. The bigger one, can store 4 extra blades and they are held in place by a magnet at the tip end of the holder. Both have the quick change feature to change the blade which is very convenient by pressing the tab down to pull out and switch side of the blade once it is dull. Also the bigger one has the twine cutter, so that you don't have to open the blade end, it is at the notch on the handle end. Another nice feature that I use too. They are made in China, and have a limited Lifetime Warranty. I will keep one in my gardening/landscaping bag, and one in the car tool bag.

Great knife, what I like best about this is two fold first is that is locks closed and open for safety and ability to use it. The other feature I like about this knife is that I can open in with one hand, often I find myself holding something in one hand and needing to get the knife out of my pocket or pouch, with this knife when I get it out a flip of the wrist while pushing on the conveniently located locking button and I am good to go. Also, changing the blades is simple as pushing a release button without any tools. Overall great knife to have and lives up to the Milwaukee brand that I know as a quality product.

What a blade! I have used many a utility knife over the years but none with the features these have. They come as a set of two with 50 blades. They are well constructed with a flip out blade which is easily opened by pushing the black button and a flick of the wrist. The blade has a quick change feature, locks securely in the open position and there is a convenient belt clip. The larger of the knives has a slot for cutting cords while in the closed position.

I like the speed of slide open utility knives, but the safety of folding knives. Especially when I carry one in my pocket or my tool bag. These knives find a middle ground. They are easy to quickly flip open, but shouldn’t accidentally open. I have another manufacturer’s folding style knife and it is a far stiffer, 2 handed operation to open. These seem safer because there’s no chance of my hand slipping off of a partially open blade and it snapping closed on my finger tips. The larger knife has storage for 5 extra blades, while the smaller one has no storage. To utilize the quick flip ability, the button must be depressed until the blade is fully opened. Pay attention because that allows the blade to bounce back from fully open and if it does, it won’t be locked open. On the plus side, if you are holding the knife properly and accidentally close it on your hand, the handle and blade holder align to keep the blade off of your finger. It is nice peace of mind. The blade release button is also nicely designed. It is protected to where I don’t think I could accidentally release the blade. I can’t say that is the case on some other utility knives I’ve owned.

The Milwaukee FASTBACK Folding Utility Knife Set (2-Pack) with 50 Blades is a great value. Two types of the FASTBACK knifes are included, one with 5 blade storage and Gut hook and a lightweight easy carry style. Both knifes have a button that locks the knife closed and when pushed, will allow the knife to be opened with a flick of the wrist. Only one hand is required to open the knife. Both knifes have a convenient belt clip for storage of the knife between tasks. Both knifes have a loop for a lanyard. The addition of a 50-blade replacement pack extends the value. For my drywall project (~80 sheets of 5/8 inch thick) I find the combination of these knifes perfect. I leave the larger FASTBACK on my worktable where I strike and cut/break the drywall to size. I carry the lightweight FASTBACK with me for the occasional trimming required when installing the drywall piece. I would recommend these Knifes to a DIYer or Professional. They are great for drywall work or breaking down boxes for discard.

To be honest, I only needed the blades, but the two handles are really great. The blade folds in and out like a pocket knife, and locks securely in place with a button. Changing the blade is tool-free, just press another button, and the blade is released. Construction is all-metal and solid. There is a lanyard eye, and even a wire belt clip. The only thing you can't do is store spare blades inside the handle. This is a much better razor knife than any other I have owned.

This is a great set of Utility Knives not only for the professional, but also just to have in the house. There is always a need for a razor knife. I used to have the old type box cutters in my utility drawer and tool chest, but these knives are much safer and easier to use and store. There are 2 sizes. They both have large, easy grip handles and the "press and flip" blade holders lock in both the open and closed positions. They have an easy, quick blade change feature which also locks the blade into the holder. A real bonus is this set includes 50 blades.

This two knife set with 50 utility blades gets you up and running out of the box. The storage container for the blades can be hung and allows you to easily access new blades and gives you storage above the new blades for the old blades. I really like the press and flip action of the knives and the extra long clips on the back. I gave this knife set a four rather than a five simply because I could not figure out to change the blades! I understand that is a Quick Change system, but no where on the packaging could I find out how to change the blade. With the help of the internet and my wife, I was able to figure it out. Please consider adding a page of instructions or a paragraph on the package to help us who are not in the know.

Like every Milwaukee tool I have ever used, this folding utility knife is very well made. It feels good in the hand when closed and when opened. You push a button on the back to release the folding part - it is not spring-loaded so you have to pivot it out yourself. There is only one locking position. Changing blades is easy, once you figure out how to do it as the package doesn't tell you (there is a tiny picture that doesn't help.) In the photo I attach I've added an arrow pointing to a protrusion. This is spring-loaded - push on it and the blade pulls right out. (It takes typical utility knife blades.) Note that there is a metal lip just above which helps guard against accidental releases. There's a handy belt clip on the back of the knife.

The Milwaukee Fastback Compact Folding Utility Knife was a great addition to my hobby tool chest! I have found that most utility knives can be unsafe with the blade not being able to retract. This folding knife is safe to use and once finished the blade can be folded safely away. The size and weight lend itself well when I cam cutting small pieces of balsa wood, cork or hardwood for my fly tying hobby as well as trimming my carved wooden intarsia pieces. A great addition to my hobby tool chest!!!

Milwaukee FASTBACK Compact Folding Utility Knife review: Another superb and useful Milwaukee tool! I like how it has a release lock to release the blade. I also like the color of the handle and the clip that allows one to snag on your blue jeans for safe keeping. And, like other Milwaukee tools, it is designed and constructed to take a beating. Love it! There ya go!

The Milwaukee model 48-22-1500 "fastback" utility knife uses the usual utility knife blades; one blade comes with the knife, but there are no spares included. You'll want to grab a pack of spares if you don't already have some in your toolbox. The knife blade folds into the handle, much like a pocketknife, and there's even a wire clip to keep the blade within easy reach when it's in your pocket. There's a push button release that allows the blade to swing out of the handle and once the blade is locked in place the button must be pushed again to fold the knife up. I've found that, in practice, the blade locks well and there doesn't appear to be much chance that the blade will unexpectedly close (YMMV). There's a small release button for changing the blade (see photo). Blade changes are fast and tool free. I use the 1500 mostly for breaking down cardboard boxes, cutting twine and shipping tape, and not so much for scoring linoleum, etc. Our recycling bin (one of those big jobs on wheels) is outside, so when I'm cutting up boxes out there this has become my 'go to' knife. I have one of the Milwaukee "sliding" blade utility knives and like it very much, but this folding model takes up less room in my jeans pocket. Unlike the Milwaukee sliding blade knife, there's no on-board storage for spare blades with the folding model. The knife offers a comfortable grip and I've had no problems using it outdoors with cotton work gloves. I haven't tried it yet with heavy winter gloves. The knife works as advertised, fit and finish are good, the price is competitive, and it saves wear and tear on my pocketknife - what's not to like? Milwaukee offers a lifetime warranty on the knife and Home Depot has their 90-day return policy as well. HTH Regards, Jim

So here we have a 'Fixed' blade 'Compact Folding Utility Knife', by fixed we refer to the blade lock at a fixed length when open. Some nice features; a press to unlock the flip open or close, Belt Clip, Lanyard Hole, 'Metal Extension to Prevent Accidental Blade Removal' and my favorite is it's folded 'Compact Size' so I can just slip into my pocket. From here it's like any other utility knife to use, and I use them for cutting boxes down, package opening, projects cutting wood to plastics and so much more.

I use a utility knife everyday. This Milwaukee Fastback compact folder is lightweight and sturdy. I like the "flip" open feature. The blade lock feels secure. The blade retention locks the blade in very well. The blade holder has a tape measure slot for scoring material. Blades are easy to change without tools. These knives have a lifetime warranty.

LIGHTWEIGHT; FULL CAPABILITY; EASY BLADE CHANGE — The Milwaukee FASTBACK Compact Folding Utility Knife is an excellent utility knife for carrying with you because it is so lightweight. For easier carrying it has a pocket clip on the back. It has a locking safety button which needs to be pressed for opening or closing. If you press the button when the knife is closed, it should flip out. However, I could never get that to work. It may be used for scoring in conjunction with a tape measure with a magnetic end. I have two other similar folding knives but this one will be my first choice primarily because of its light weight and ease of handling. It is made in China and comes with a lifetime warranty.

The Milwaukee FASTBACK Compact Folding Utility Knife Model # 48-22-1500 is a compact folding Utility Knife with some nice innovative features. This knife incorporates two safety features that I like. First is the push button lock release needed to open and close the knife requires both hands. And secondly is the guarded push button for the blade replacement also requires both hands. Both features reduce the user being accidently cut. The coated wire pocket clip is pretty stout if that’s your choice or carry the knife in your pocket. The thick plastic body should not put a hole in your pocket. Milwaukee supports this product with a Limited Lifetime Warranty.

This is a very nice upgrade from the previous model. The pocket clip has been improved and does not appear to damage my pocket. Also, the flipping action is indeed smoother, although I deduct one star from my rating because you have to flip in like a frisbee motion because it sometimes does not flip open. The blade release is finally hidden inside of the handle when closed. The older model had to blade release button exposed when closed and could easily be pressed. Also, a blade guard protects the button from being pressed during normal cutting. The plastic body has a smooth finish and is not textured like the previous model. In other words, it's not as comfortable to hold. Overall, this is a very nice upgrade and a must own. I have officially retired my previous fastback. Recommended: Yes
