I bought this, and the trimmer head squealed really bad right out of the box. I brought it back for exchange and the 2nd one did the same thing! Returned it and tried 2 other ones in store before finding one that was smooth and quiet like it should be. My friend dealt with the same issue and took him 2 tries for a good one. Quality control was lacking on this product.

I was looking into buying a trimmer since forever. Was looking at other brands and reviews but everything kept leading me back to Milwaukee. Their tools might be on the pricey side but honestly they are worth every single penny put into them. You will not be disappointed with this trimmer at all. I’ve used other trimmers none come close to the force this one has. You can count on it to get the job done through very thick brush. Amazing like all Milwaukee tools.

Bought this to replace a gas weed eater , 5 acres and a gas weed eater grew old , gas , pull start, gas , line , but this has been a pleasure to use ,only a couple of hours but it’s a perfect 10 so far !

I love the trimmer itself, but it has melted my battery negative terminal, its melted on the trimmer and battery terminal. Other than that flaw the trimmer works wonders and i love the veriable speed, as well as the smooth trimmer feed.

I purchased this kit just for the free blower. I figured I would sell off the string trimmer, battery and charger. That was the plan, but then one day, I cracked open the box, and I actually started using the string trimmer and it made me feel powerful. Like Tony, Montana or Arnold Schwarzenegger! Plus the blower is awesome, so many different uses for the blower and they make it easy because there is No gas,oil or any of that stuff.

I use this trimmer to trim grass and weeds. The problem with this trimmer is that if you cut high or dense grass and weeds for 5 minutes or so the battery overheats and it shuts off. This is actually expected behavior and a safety feature. However, the contacts for the battery get extremely hot and the plastic around the contacts in both the battery and the tool have melted. This has occurred with two batteries that I have used with it. Last time I used it the battery housing melted to the point where I needed a pry bar to remove it because the melted plastic on the battery hit the tool body and caused it to jam. This is very disappointing from Milwaukee since according to their product description this is designed for use by professional landscapers. I doubt this type of problem would be tolerated by anyone who uses this tool to make a living. This is a poor design, materials capable of tolerating much higher heat should have been specified around the battery contact area for both the battery and tool.

I am happy with the operation of the unit overall, but it has melted the negative contact on my XC8.0 battery pack. I have seen many reports of this problem.

Worked great for a while, then started to melt my 8.0 battery. Thought it could have been an issue with the battery, tried a (5.0) battery and started melting it. Blower works like a charm, wish the weed eater did as well. I’m a lineman, Milwaukee has really stepped up their game in our trade with great tools, I wish I had the same quality while doing yard work. Highly recommend the blower, the weed eater caused my low rating.

I found this trimmer excellent in most aspects but it melted one of the battery terminals. Both, the trimmer and battery, were still functional but there were some melted material deposited in the trimmer terminal that didn't allow the battery to fit well. I hope a solution is found soon.

Have had it over a week so far.I was surprised at the power it had. I love the feel.weight is similar to gas.i have not weed eated my yard in over a year so I worked it pretty good. Got back yard done to my satisfaction using 1 heavy duty battery that came with blower. I used it hard the next day doing what it said not to..use like a edger. Way to grass in my asphalt drive Way but I forced it thru. It did get hot plus it was upper 90s as well. It doesn't like yellow jackets..but they stopped me for the day. Can't wait to use like normal. I want to see how it does then decide on more attachments

For the second Milwaukee M18 trimmer, it has had a failure in the head unit and is non operational. Here is a summary of the situation (and my next steps): PROPERTY: One acre property, with about 1/2 an acre in grass (with long common area with culvert and community mailbox). The remaining property is wooded. USE: Personal use around house, approximately every other week for about 2 hours of run time. FAILURE: At the head unit and shaft (breakage) PICTURES: Attached RESULT: Move to new brand

I own over ten Milwaukee tools, but this one is the most requested. I bought this thinking all of my other Milwaukee tools work great. Big disappointment. This was way heavier than my gas powered weed trimmer. Doing my lawn I went through 3 1/2 batteries and it got so hot that one of my battery chargers don't work now and a battery is kind of ruined also. Don't waste your time or money on this unless you have a 5 minute job to do. Usually mine takes 20 minutes, but it took my 1 1/2 hours to trim my lawn with this.

Best tools. it is the best power tool, the best warranty and quality.

I was extremely hesitant to get a battery powered trimmer but after use it for the 4th I will 100% recommend it Ofcourse it would make even more sense if you are a Milwaukee guy already either way 5 starts for this trimmers

Easy to follow instructions although the clamp provided to install the belt holder was a booger for one person. We take good care of our tools, equipment, etc. but picking up the pole saw for its third use the handle was cracked. Have ordered a replacement. Not too happy about that as we have used Milwaukee tools for years and always been quite pleased. Possibly just a bad design on the handle??

Powerful and convenient. No more messing with fuel mixing and mess. A worthwhile purchase.

Worked well until it fell apart. Had it for two seasons trimming one day and it literally fell apart in my hand. The aluminium shaft broke off inside the housing and it just came apart in the middle of a trim. I guess we will see if Milwaukee stands behind it. It is still within warranty period.

Milwaukee is my go to for tools and they are excellent in my book and if I could have one of every tool I would.

I have had two of the same models and they both have failed at the point where battery connects to contacts and contact module is loose and creates a melting point at contacts/ battery terminals due to vibratiothen oil n , would suggest securing contact block for zero movement and

Use it for edger but not weed trimmer. The quick load string trimmer head has a bump cap that will fail in just a few months and Milwaukee has gone the garbage route of not selling the 2$ cap. Instead they tell you to purchase a new head at 40$+. Pretty pathetic for a company that usually has good customer service but it looks like they are going to way of all other companies and just don’t care about their customers anymore. Was told echomatic pro head. pn21560031 fits and lasts.

I love this trimmer. The only problem is if you follow the arrows it throws the grass in the opposite direction. When winding the string, if you wind the string how your supposed to when you tap the head it auto feeds so much string it and wraps around the shaft. If you wind it opposite, every time you need more string I need to stop and manually pull the string out.

Milwaukee is by far the best tools I’ve ever laid hands on

I bought this to have a convenient way of trimming at our new property. This product exceeded my expectations and changing trimmer line is easy and effortless.

Over all this has been a great system. My only complaint is the main black handle has a crack in it preventing it from tightening on the shaft.

While I loved the product at first, the trimmer has begun to overheat and damage several of my batteries. This happened after the first time I used said trimmer to do normal daily yard work. I love the idea of being able to switch attachments to handle different types of yard work but it's a big letdown when the product stops working and starts damaging your batteries.

I own several Milwaukee power tools and have been happy with their performance. I decided to purchase the brushless string trimmer instead of a gas weed eater because I already owned multiple batteries. VERY disappointed after several months of ownership, the trimmer will run for a few minutes, overheat and stop; head has also worn out after only a few months, common issues! Glad I didn't invest in the other attachments as I was planning on doing.
