I am very happy with results from using this product. The coverage was good and it went on easy. It was definitely cheaper and easier than installing a new door. I have included before and after pictures of the door.

I LOVE this paint. The packaging is perfect, no mess, easy to open and close. The colour exactly the shade of green depicted here. It glided onto the door and dried quickly to a lovely satin finish. Cleanup just as effortless. Soap and water. Done. I find myself looking for other things to paint! I painted the outside surface of two doors, two coats each and used less then half the contents of the jar.

The color on the door looks great. I had to do three coats. Dries in an hour and paint after two. I was able to do all three coats and close door on the same day. One container is definitely enough. I still have half the container left over. The modern masters front door app worked great to select this color.

Not even close to the "World's Best Front Door Paint"
My initial reaction to this color, called “Fortunate”, was that the company that makes it would be very, very “Fortunate” to sell any of that particular color. Think of a cross between pea soup and neon green, and it still doesn’t quite capture the awful shade that I was about to apply to a door. The exterior door that we chose was at least 18 years old, and had not been painted in some time. To get rid of old grime and make sure that the surface was ready to take paint, I followed the directions, and prepped door with light sanding. I used 3M Pro Grade Precision 3-2/3 in. x 9 in. 150 Grit Medium Ultra Flexible Sanding Sheet, a really nice product that I reviewed elsewhere. According to the directions, the existing base color did not require any priming, so I took them at their word. In retrospect, I think that priming would have helped, and perhaps would have eliminated some of the issues I encountered during actual application of the paint. Again following the directions on the glass jar, I used a 2 ½” high-quality Purdy brush. After opening the jar, I discovered the first negative (other than the color). There was a pull-off seal on top of jar that was absolutely ridiculous. It took a surprising amount of effort – like a manufacturered, tamper-proof pill bottle, it was extremely hard to pull off, and threatened to drop globs of paint that had adhered to the lid. Somehow I got the film off without a mishap, but still do not understand why such a seal was necessary when they had a perfectly good jar seal on top. Did I mention how horrible the color was? How unfortunate… but it was a free sample, and this door was so ugly anyway that any color should have been an improvement. Although the instructions called for a 2 or 2 ½ inch brush, after applying some paint, I would have preferred a wider jar opening to allow use of wider brush. This would have resulted in fewer brush strokes and probably less streaking. I could have dumped the paint into another open tray or paint bucket, but I was trying to stick to using the materials as provided. While applying the paint to the door, I noticed that there was quite a bit of foaming. In fact, I had not seen this kind of foaming since I used some Olympic stain, probably back in the late 1970’s. This paint did not come anywhere close to covering in one coat. The coverage was very disappointing, and brushing left lots of streaks, some paint puddling, and brush marks. On the plus side, a second coat for both sides of the door looks easily doable given the amount of paint provided in the jar. So, if you are going to use this, count on doing a second coat. For an exterior door, that’s probably a good idea anyway. Overall, I would have to conclude that this paint does not cover as well as other exterior paints, e.g. Benjamin Moore, which is my usual exterior paint of choice. I can’t emphasized enough just how un-“Fortunate” the color was… but after all, I wasn’t here to review the color, just the paint. Some people might like that brilliant green, but it just didn’t go well with my home. Oh well, that’s what sandpaper and additional coats of paint are for, right? A few changes such as a wider jar for use with wider brush and a less cumbersome jar seal would have been very welcomed and would have made the overall experience much better. I like the idea of the paint being in a conveniently recycleable jar, but since jars can seal extremely well, why was that film seal even there? Cleanup was extremely easy - soap and water, and I couldn’t even tell the brush had been in contact with the paint at all. On the positive side, this paint did seem to covered even discolored old paint and rust spots fairly well. However, due to the streaking, foaming, and other issues described, I would not purchase this paint for my own use. Regardless of the color! Expect brush streaks, foaming, and insufficient first coat coverage, despite meticulous prep and cleaning of surface per the instructions. Also on the positive side, this paint stays wet for a while, making it easier to work from a wet edge, but the drawback is that it requires a couple hours before recoating is possible. My overall rating – probably 2 ½ stars. It seems like an average paint, and hardly worthy of the title of World’s Greatest Front Door Paint. Full disclaimer: I received this product to evaluate for free, but my opinions are my own and have not been influenced by any company in writing this review. I have no known affiliation with the manufacturer of this product. Your mileage may vary, just as your product preferences may be different than mine.

Looks just like the picture on the product
This blue looks awesome, it can be used on wood or metal and it does not have to be the door but this blue stands out. One quart is more than enough for a door for both sides since it coves up to 100 square feet. I really like how easy it is to apply and with the satin look is just right. We have a small dog and he likes to scratch the back door and need to paint the door about one a year and that give me the chance to try different colors every time. and you can try the application Door paint, to see how your door will look like before you paint it. This time my door looks awesome.

A Celebration of Color!
This is the perfect door paint made easy. Do you have as much trouble picking the perfect paint as I do? I love the little chip and when I paint with it I find it is slightly off. How do the designers do it! Well now you can get a perfect amount of paint and a perfect color. This paint elevated the look of my door. It covers wonderfully well and the color is perfect. I can't say enough good about it. There is a lot of paint in that container. I wouldn't be surprised if it was enough to do shutters too. I took one picture and the paint is still drying. It's hard to get the perfect look of color on a photo but be assured I couldn't be happier. Great idea. Thanks folks! PS. It covers great, smooths out nicely, very easy to clean up afterward. And my door looks like a million dollars!

This paint went on smoothly and covered a dark (and ugly) burgundy color with two coats. I used a small brush for edging but used a small spongy roller for covering the main part of the door and that worked wonderfully since there were no brush strokes! This paint is a little pricey but it's worth it! The finish is beautiful and it's an awesome color!

Church Doors are Gleaming!
We needed to paint our church doors and our Pastor was stuck on blue! While I was concerned, I was most concerned about getting the right color and making sure that people felt welcomed as they entered. CALM was the perfect fit for our needs and people love the new look.

Dries too fast: shows brush strokes
First off, this red color is the perfect shade of front-door-red. Beautiful color. My house is white with black shutters and this color looks great. Hence the 3 stars. But this paint does not paint on easily and shows every brush stroke. Granted, I painted over a black door instead of a white primed door, I painted about 4 coats of paint and still felt that it needed more coats. I thought that since I was painting over black and not another color like blue or green, that it would look ok. The major problem I have with this paint is that it dries so fast that it shows every brush stroke. If you decide to use this paint, be very cautious of the directions of your brush strokes and where they overlap. Any overlapping spots could end up with brush strokes in both directions. To avoid that, I made sure that my brush strokes mirrored what it would look like if it had been a wood-grain door. I also believe that if there hadn't been any brush strokes, it would have had a nice satin-shiny smooth finish. I'm considering going back and adding flotrol to the paint and repainting the door. And lastly, my door fits REAL tight. So some of the paint has scratched off right away in the spots that it scrapes the inside of the frame. It's not a big deal since it is just the frame, but it makes me wonder how easily it will scratch off the front if I dinged it.

Thank you for your thorough review. We are happy to hear the paint was the perfect color for your project. Modern Masters Front Door Paint does dry quickly. To avoid brush strokes, apply with a 3/8” synthetic roller or an airless sprayer. Thin as needed—but carefully—as over-thinning may result in loss of hide and a reduction of the desired appearance. We recommend thinning 10% with water. Rustoleum

I love my front door!!
The paint is a beautiful color and exactly what I was wanting!! It is very thick though and a little hard to work with in getting a smooth finish. It covers well but it did take three coats to cover the white door to a solid darker blue. I thought that the price was a little high when I ordered it but even though it is only a quart of paint, we used less than 1/3 of that in the three coats we put on the door. That being said, it was a great value! Now to just find something else to use this beautiful color on!

This paint is terrible.
I rarely write reviews but i can't believe anyone put five stars on this product. They must be fake. The paint drips, streaks, and peels terribly. After three coats i can still see color variations. I thought for 50 bucks a quart the product would be higher quality. I'm probably going to have to replace my front door now because the damage has been done. So disappointing as my house is new construction and my dad and I painted the entire house with Bher and had absolutely no issues. Terrible.

This is not what we expect to hear! To ensure full adhesion, Rust-Oleum Modern Masters Front Door Paint should be applied over a water-based primer. If the door was factory finished, then the primer is required, as these finishes tend to be oil-based. We also recommend applying this product with a high-quality synthetic bristle brush, a 3/8” synthetic roller, or with an airless paint sprayer. Color variation within a can will also often indicate that the paint was not properly mixed before use or mixed during application.

    good product for doors
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I used this product on my front door. I prepped the area by cleaning and sanding the door first. I used a medium sized brush and a sponge brush for tricky areas. It went on smoothly and looks great. It gave my front door a face lift.

If you've been thinking about it.. just do it!!
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I have watched tons of diy videos on painting doors and have admired but never been bold enough to try. I saw this paint and took a chance and am so so glad I did. I absolutely love the outcome and the paint quality. I am confident it will last for years to come.

        Great Paint
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This paint is great. I used it on my front door and it covered the other paint so well. It went on smooth and dried quickly. I did two coats but really would have been fine with one. I did wash my door first but there are no streaks or bubbles in the finished product.

          Great quality paint!
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I used this paint to refresh my old white metal front door. After priming it, I ended up using three coats of this paint. It offered opaque and beautiful coverage, and dried very quickly between coats- making this a much quicker and easier process than anticipated. A little goes a long way, and I still had a good amount of paint left over after my project.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I'm very happy with this paint. Was easy to use. I found it to go on smooth and dry quickly. No bubbles, smearing. Clean up also a breeze. I now have all matching doors and I'm thrilled. I can't say yet about the paint not fading but I definitely have high hopes it won't. I highly recommend this paint and plan to continue purchasing.

                  Bad experience with thus paint
I don't know the formula of this paint but it chips and peels easily!!! I've had it on my door for 2 years and thank God I have extra because my front and back doors would look like something that came out the trash. It's quite annoying to pay this much for paint and have to touch up every other month. I followed the directions yet this paint doesn't stay well at all!!!! I painted my shutters with it as well and ended up just ordering them in a blue to replace because the paint literally peeled

This is not what we expect to hear! To ensure full adhesion, a primer may be needed with Rust-Oleum Modern Masters Front Door Paint. A water-based primer needs to be used, and if the doors were factory finished, the primer is a must as the factory finish is likely oil-based and the paint will not fully adhere to it.

                    Great color!
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] So, definitely read the instructions prior to starting. There are a lot of great reviews out there on prepping and painting with this with great tips and tricks. With that said, preparation is key to a great result. Sand and prime and clean, or you may need more than two coats. The first coat can be streaky but then the second coat fills it all in nicely. A roller brush is your friend here for more even coverage and ease of painting. A foam brush worked great on the detailed parts of the door. It dries fairly quickly. It came out a nice rich black with a satin finish. It was alittle more work but the finished product was well worth it!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] The paint is quite thick and covers really well. I used a brush for the trim and also followed their suggestions for the roller choice. It was easy and dried well and then I worked on the 2nd coat. 2 coats is enough. Overall I am very happy with this product and have lot left over.

                        Love it!
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] We have been slowly transforming our house from a modern farmhouse to a more mid century modern design with a lot more black accents. We decided that a black front door would be great. Our front door was about 4 years old and we had never painted a door before. My husband was concerned about the dry time but this stuff really does quick. We thought we would have to leave the door open and off the hinges for days. Even though it’s winter it’s warm here and dried super quick. After two coats it looks great and the little bottle provides great coverage. Let’s see how long it lasts but hopefully forever since it said it won’t fade!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I was a little nervous about this when we received this because I thought the color was supposed to be black, but in the container it looked more like a dark blue, but it turned out great and ended up going on black.

                            What A Beautiful Transformation
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I started with a worn-out yellow metal door.  Two full coats of this Modern Masters Express Yourself Elegant Front Door Paint and I now have a beautiful dark satin door.  This is such a beautiful transformation!  I used a 4" paint brush and applied the paint generously, but not dripping. This paint goes on very smoothly. I also didn't have to take the door off the hinges to paint. I was able to use a smaller paint brush up close to the hinges. The paint dried fairly quickly, about an hour or two, which is a good thing.  Gives you enough time to actually paint, then dry.  This was very easy to do, so don't be too nervous. I'm going to have to try something else now.  They have lots of colors to choose from...I'm hooked!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] My front door has gone unpainted for over 20 years, so needless to say it was looking more than a little bit grungy after 20+ years of wear and tear. It's still a great door after all this time, so we decided to paint it black (because The Rolling Stones told us to), and this paint definitely fit the bill! I was a little nervous after the first coat because it seemed not quite right, but once that dried and we applied the 2nd coat, it turned out wonderfully!
