While buying a single copper pipe strap might not seem to be economical, often only one or two are needed for these larger sizes of pipe. This strap is not one of the super thin ones usually available, it measures out at .0465 inch thick, or roughly 18 gauge, but these are only copper plated, not solid copper. Useful for copper or brass pipe as well as any of the plastic piping methods.

I recommend this strapping primarily for aesthetics, or when dissimilar metals may pose a problem like electrolysis, or when grounding the pipe is necessary. Copper is expensive and when the need arises, there really is no substitute. I tried to show how well it would work with a copper strap that might be used in an equipment bay. I also posted a photo of how it could secure 3/4" PVC with a little massaging. I have seen shower systems with exposed copper pipe and brass fittings polished to a mirror finish and this sort of strap would be perfect for that situation.

Product: Oatey 1" Copper 2 Hole Tube Strap/Country of Origin: China///// There's not a whole lot to say about this copper strap other than it appears to be well made and the copper seems to be of regular quality. I needed to strap an outdoor spigot to a building and this little baby did me right. Being copper, it should hold up to the elements for some time and it's strong. I no longer have to concern myself about whether I'm going to break the PVC pipe that comes up from the ground when pulling on the hose. It's a keeper.

Copper pipe and tubing require copper straps. Other than a plastic strap, other metals may corrode the copper and cause leaking. I usually have a good stock of emergency plumbing repair items, such as valves, fittings, etc. Having an extra clamp or two adds to your supplies. The Oatey strap is a nice strap that is strong enough to hold the pipe or tubing without bending or stressing the screw holes.

There are so many fasteners to hold pipes to wood or walls but the traditional copper strap is always popular. This strap is designed to keep its shape and be strong but it is also a little bit flexible so can be bent to fit a certain configuration if the situation makes it necessary. The two holes mean that the strap can be fully secured with either nails or screws and it won’t move against the pipe and cause chaffing and possible leakage.

I'm using the Oatey 1 in. Copper 2 Hole Tube Strap with both copper and PVC piping. I generally like to use a copper tube strap because I don't have to worry about rusting. It fits nicely and flush mounts to walls, and in areas that are reachable for fastening. For this project I'm actually running 1/2 inch copper tubing through 3/4 inch tubing as a conduit, and protection from electrical wires. I've used Oatey Brand 1 in. Copper 2 Hole Tube Straps for many years without a single issue.

A nice pipe hanger that also has many other uses. It will fit up to 1 inch pipe, of any material. Copper, PVC, etc Easy to install, no screws or nails included, pick what works best for you for your install areas. These also work well for garden and shop uses beyond just plumbing. Being copper it won't get brittle with age when used for securing hot water pipes for radiators, etc. Dimensions are spot on, see review pics. High quality, I'd recommend it.

I am putting in piping for an indirect water heater. This involves running two 1" copper pipes on the side of an 8" wooden beam. These straps work well for holding the pipes in place. Because of other piping, running the pipes along the floor joist was not an option. The only complaint I have about these straps is that they do not come with the copper plated nails, so I ended up using coated screws that will not have a chemical reaction with the copper.

Nice clamp for just about anything. Made for copper pipe support but I have used these outside to hold many things. I used them on my bridge to clamp yard lights to the side of my wooden bridge. These are the kind of path lights used in yard and landscaping projects and are solar charged during the day. I also attached a light to my chicken coop the same way. Good quality, but either the copper is coated or the purity is low, because they will stick to a magnet and they will rust when exposed to the weather.

The 1 in. Copper 2 Hole Tube Strap by Oatey is well-made and is of high quality. Oatey has different sizes of tube straps and this one could be used to secure not only copper pipes but also PVC pipe, galvanized pipe, Chlorinated PVC pipe, etc. In the middle of the strap, there is a grooved line which made the strap structurally stronger. (see picture) This is a good product.

SUMMARY: INCORRECT DESCRIPTION. NOT COPPER. UNUSABLE FOR MY APPLICATION BACKGROUND: I was working on a Steampunk inspired piece and wanted to use a copper tube strap. The Oatey 1 inch strap looked like the perfect thing. DISCUSSION: The strap LOOKED like it was copper. But when I started to polish it for installation the copper plating quickly rubbed away exposing the steel strap underneath. I wasn’t able to use it with the steel showing through, so I re-purposed it as a tool holder. I did put in a product feedback through the web site, and I would be leery of any other Oatey straps advertised as copper. SUMMARY: Incorrect product description cost me time and effort and was unusable. PROS: CONS: Not copper as advertised.

This is the type of strap/clamp I like to use when running copper water supply lines on a solid surfaces. Such as cement and cinder block walls. Also if you have paneling, plywood, drywall. I have used these types of clamps to hang PVC, PEX, and other types of piping. I prefer to use metal clamps on metal piping, and plastic clamps on PVC, PEX and on other types of plastic lines.

This 1 inch two hole copper tube strap will work with a wide variety of pipe products, including copper, PEX, or CPVC when you are securing the pipe against studs or other hard surfaces. As you can see in the pictures, the strap is well-formed and can actually fit a pipe slightly larger than 1 inch, and the overall length is just over 2.5 inches. The copper is a good thickness, but you can still bend it with the right tools if needed. I highly recommend this copper tube strap!

The clamp is very good. The solid copper clamp fits perfectly on the 1-inch tubes. The clamp can be attached by nails or screws. It is solid copper and can hold copper or PVC or any material pipe. The copper can be bent slightly to fit cushion tape between the pipe and strap. I used some duct tape to reduce sound transfer on the pipe. High quality clamps.

1" Copper Tube Strap, well as far as straps go, this one is acceptable and will do the job. This strap is imported, so I would guess the price line will increase once domestic stock is depleted. Interesting to note, that is called a "Tube Strap" not a pipe strap. This product is imported. ............................................................

Loving these Oatey straps. We use a lot of Oatey products and are very satisfied with the quality and variety of their products. Hubs is a plumber and we go through a lot ! It's good to remember that you need to use the copper straps with copper piping! That said ii use these things all over the farm not just for supporting pipes. They are very useful for multiple applications in the barn and in the garden. They are excellent for making temporary hoop houses over raise beds in a flash. Just can't have to many of these on hand!

This review is for the Oatey 1 in. Copper 2 Hole Tube Strap. I’ve had no issues with Oatey products, so it’s become a “go-to” brand for me. There are a variety of different ways you can use these types of straps and I’ve probably tried most of them (including securing pipes). They hold up well, both inside and outside. I’m partial to the look of copper and this one works great on my craft bench as a junk towel holder. It actually functions better than a hook because the towel fits snugly and I don’t have to deal with it falling off (the downside of a hook). Also, it’s easy to slide the towel in and out of the strap (it’s a small towel). Although, I have used larger straps for bigger towels.

Works as expected, although I didn’t use it for securing tubing or pipes, I used it for securing a bird feeder shepherds hook to our deck to keep it standing upright. So many times when you have a full bird feeder, the poles tend to lean due to the weight of them. When I saw these copper straps I knew that would work perfectly, and it has. I have six poles and nine various feeders and wind chimes, so I will definitely be getting more of them to secure the others.

Obviously this one inch, two hole tube strap is to be used to support tubes or pipes. It is made of solid copper. In construction applications, you would obviously need many of them. But having one could be used for craft project that could look "industrial chic" which is really in right now. Mounted on a board with the appropriate sized container, it could hold flowers or used as a plant rooter and it would look really cool. I could think of other unusual ways of using this strap around the house too. Mount it to a kitchen cabinet and use it to hold kitchen scissors...which are usually get lost in the drawer. It would be a great way to keep the snips handy.

We are in the process of a complete remodel of our wood working shop, we are adding more plumbing, and electrical, also a ventilation system we are going to use the copper 2 hole tube clamps for fasteners in stead of the strapping system made from other materials we find the copper is much stronger, less corrosive on waterlines and just do a better job.

Material thickness for this strap is more than sufficient. In the past I found it critical that such straps must have edges that come with contact with the pipe deburred or otherwise, little by little, they eat the point of contact due to abrasion from vibrations. Ultimately, this is how failure happens, especially when the water hammer effect on the piping has not been addressed with an arrestor. Stamping was designed very well and manufacturing and plating are top notch.

This product is a very important finishing touch to a well engineered copper tube plumbing installation. It assures that all of your hard work is properly secured and well protected, and would actually pass inspection and satisfy your insurance provider should you have a water damage claim, and they come looking. It is not uncommon to see a unprofessional home plumbing installation or repair that has been put at risk because whatever was at hand was used to secure the tubing, be it common nails hammered around soft copper tube, very risky, steel wire of whatever size and unknown strength was handy, coiled pre-drilled strapping that is actually best used for pipe that hangs below the ceiling, not home made pipe straps, or even scrap wood nailed or screwed in place over tubing. The results of doing this puts the installation at risk of catastrophic failure due to a number of problems, that include dissimilar metal galvanic corrosion, and makeshift strapping that may be too tight or too loose, too tight or too lose, or not secure enough, subjecting the tubing to stresses that can even work solder joints loose over time. Oatey brand Copper Tubing Straps come pre-engineered for all of the commonly used copper tubing sizes, with all of the math done for you, so you get exactly what you need in strength, ease of installation and removal, and a service life that matches that of the copper tubing itself. The cost is nominal, and the ease of use and time savings are substantial, both at initial installation and later, if you have to drop and then rehang pipe to do repairs or install new pipe runs. I have some half inch copper tubing runs to outside faucets that are subject to cold temperatures, so I use closed cell plastic foam pipe sleeves close to exterior walls. The standard pipe size matching straps prevent continuous runs of protective foam sleeves. So in these areas, I simply changed out the existing half inch straps over half inch bare copper tubing for one inch straps, which fit perfectly over the same tubing after you add zip-on insulating sleeves. I like this product very much.

The 1 inch Oatey Co. brand copper tube strap could be used for e a variety of purposes around your home, but I put these straps to work installing them over PVC plumbing supply lines in my basement. They do a good job of helping more strongly support the pipes, keeping them from making noise as the water turns on or off. They are good quality and easy to nail in to the floor joists the pipes run along. These straps are offered in other sizes, for water supply lines that are have a different diameter.

I am using this copper strap for securing copper water piping in my basement. I personally like the two-hole version better than one-hole or the hammer-in spikes as it is far more secure (no bending after installed, cleaner looking, etc). This strap seems to be sufficiently sturdy and was not a problem to use. I do not anticipate any issues with it. Always remember, do NOT use stainless straps with copper pipe, or vice versa. Galvanic corrosion may be an issue.

Bought CTS copper-plated 3/4", 1", 1.25" sizes, all supposedly "Oatey" brand. 3/4" and 1.25" were good quality Oatey. I had to return subject 1" size, a non-branded low-quality product, not Oatey, not as pictured. In attached picture, the beefier one is "Sioux Chief" bought at another chain for the same price, the other is the subject item. Note the oversized off-center screw holes placed too close to the edges of the undersized tabs, and no stiffening ridge on the ring. I hope this was just an isolated slip by HD's purchasing.
