I don’t write reviews, but in this case I felt I had to. Brand new 800 square-foot pressure-treated pine deck seasoned for winter used this horrible product by Olympic, which seemed like a quick easy idea to prep it for stain. White film appeared after several attempts to rinse it off and the cellulose of the wood became soft and fuzz up, We are at a loss as to what to do now. It was obviously too strong, causing it to slough up and make it unrepairable.

Fantastic…deck looks like new…easy application…results seen Immediately…quick cleanup. Used for past three years….great value with great results…customer for life.

I normally leave positive reviews but this cleaner was SO BAD! Rebuilt my deck late last summer and was prepping for new stain. Sprayed, let sit for five minutes and tried to spray it off with the hose. Not happening. A thick white film was there that would not come off. Had to get the pressure washer out in order to remove it. Still, after it dried, a fair amount remained. Kinda hesitant to apply the stain now. Maybe I missed the part to not apply to unstained wood but I don’t think so. Don’t.

We use this product followed the instructions and it left my deck in worse condition then when we started. Blotchy. Spent a lot of money on the stain and it’s horrible.

Worked great, applied on dry deck, waited 15 minutes, hosed off.

Our black and mossy deck was in such bad shape I didn't think it could be saved. Thought I'd try this before we called in a professional and I am shocked at how well it worked.

I rarely do reviews, but I love this product. I started using Olympic Deck Cleaner over 10 years ago when I put a new concrete deck around my pool. The contractor told me not to use a power washer as it would ruin the finish. I have used it on my painted deck too, and it is amazing. I have a tree that went into distress with this year's drought and dropped a massive amount of sap on the deck. You just use a pump sprayer to spray it on and then 15 minutes later just rinse it off. No scrubbing or hard work at all. I attached a picture showing how amazing it is. The left side is still wet with the deck cleaner before rinsing, the right side is how dirty it was.

I have an older Trex composite deck which is prone to mold and mildew. I have used other cleaning products in the past with ok results, but they were a pain to use. This product was EASY and worked as good or better as anything else I have used. No dilution or mixing, simply spray on, scrub lightly with a brush and rinse off. I highly recommend it. It does lighten the deck a little, but I think it was due to the dirt and mildew on it. I included some photos with areas cleaned vs uncleaned.

This thing is amazing. Have used it for years. Spray, light brush scrub, power wash. A picture is worth 1,00 words. Here I give you a couple. You be the judge.

Just bought 2.5 gallons of this product to use on a 2year old deck…after using SealOnce sealer on it a year ago. First used it on the top rail & got the results in the photo…fuzzy finish as if it had been pressure washed on high setting. This wood has never been pressure cleaned. What’s happened & can it be fixed????

Whitened up my fence in no time with one application. The 2-gal is a great value!

About every 4 years I have used Olympic Deck Cleaner prior to using Olympic Honey Gold Stain. The deck cleaner delivers a look like the deck was just built - and its now its over 20 years old. I spray it on and brush off the black film and mold and it looks brand new. I included a photo below - highly recommend!

Called company to ask why people complained about this cleaner. Was told it works as long as you don’t let it dry. I soaked this and this is the result! How can they continue to sell a “cleaner” that ruins wood?!

I used this to clean my composite deck and it ruined it I wish I would have read the reviews before I used this product!

I bought this product to clean our deck and our patio stones. Patio had never been cleaned (13 years). Easy and fast process. Pic shows the before and after with the upper right corner still dirty. I couldn’t be more pleased.

Applied on one year old deck, did nothing but leave a white film on deck and fuzzies from me trying to scrub. Worked really good on two plastic chairs that were covered in mildew though. But on pressure treated deck did nothing. Now I have to sand half a deck. Thank Gid I only did half.

Before we could get the product from the store to our home the "sealed" container leaked in the back floorboard of our newly leased car. Fortunately, the rubber mat contained the majority of the product, however, a good amount went over the mat and bleached the black carpet in our new car. Good product but horrible packaging.

We have a Composite deck that’s eight years old. Over the years we have pressure washed it, but it never looked clean. It was pretty dirty and grimy with lots of staining and mildew. I decided to try this product and it worked amazing. It was hard work because the deck was so dirty. It looks like a new deck now.

Just washed my Trex deck with this. Totally ruined!!! Did a test spot which seemed ok so did the entire deck. It removed most of the top finish and not only is it very white now but the color looks a splotchy. The deck was in great condition other than the back spots I was trying to wash out. Totally disappointed and devastated. The black spots did come out. Unfortunately my deck was ruined in the process. Now I have to replace a perfectly good deck unless I want to look at this mess everyday. Stay away from this product unless you are prepared to replace your deck anyway.

What an awful outcome. We bought this to clean our six month old deck prior to applying sealer/stain. Now, we have about 275 sq feet of white furry wood. We put far too much sweat and money into building this deck to have it look so awful. The bottle specifically says "no scrubbing necessary" but we even tried that in order to get the fuzz off. VERY DISAPPOINTED! Who is going to pay to fix this mess?

I just wrote this review on consumeraffairs.com So this will be my 2nd review I have ever written. But once again as I clean my deck in 2016, I am amazed at how wonderful this product is. OK folks. This is the first and only review I have ever written. You may have heard that statement before and I’m not quite sure how to prove this statement, but it is true. We installed Timbertech composite decking in 2009. We have a 3 tiered connecting deck that wraps around the corner of our house. The cost of JUST the materials was over $10,000. We decided to go with composite decking because Timbertech advertised “MAINTENANCE FREE” (they now advertise LOW MAINTENANCE -- load of garbage!) We didn’t want the hassle of re-staining, etc. every year. Well, about 2 years after the summer installation we noticed black mold spots starting to develop. That summer it was a small amount and seemed to be just on the surface. We lightly pressure washed it and it was gone. But by the next summer the mold was back and with a vengeance! My husband and I were mortified. So we pressure washed it again but by late summer it was all back again. Next summer, same thing but worse again. My husband and I were considering ripping down the deck because it looked so awful. We stopped entertaining at our house because it looked like our deck had a contagious disease. Every year I would go to Lowes, Home Depot, etc. asking for some type of cleaner. Tried lots. Krud Kutter, to homemade stuff. Nothing worked. At one of my visits to Lowes looking for paint, I by chance asked one of the employees if they have come out with anything that cleans composite decking. He said yes he did have a product for me. It is called Olympic Deck Cleaner. Told me to just spray it on, wait 5 minutes and hose it off. Said if it is really bad you may need to pressure wash it off instead of hosing it off. I rudely laughed in his face. He told me that it doesn’t say to use it on composite decking but to try it. He just saw how it worked at a conference. So I bought 1 bottle of it at the cost of around $13 bucks. Got home, filled the garden sprayer and applied. Didn’t need to dilute it down. Just spray it on. I just did a small patch in the corner of the deck to make sure it didn’t do anything worse than what I was already dealing with. I was pressure washing the deck furniture at the same time so I went to the garage to pull out some of the patio chairs. Returned to check on the spot I was cleaning and OMG it worked. It had dissolved the dirt and mold. I couldn’t believe it. I did the rest of one level of deck and couldn’t believe what I was looking at. My husband was shocked. I had taken some before pics because I fought and fought with Timbertech to replace the deck. They pretty much laughed at me. After cleaning, I took some pics and took both the before and after pics up to show the guy at Lowes. He didn’t seem surprised but was thrilled for me because I just saved $10,000 by not replacing the deck. About a week, I returned to lower to purchase more paint. When I went up to the paint counter I was shocked to see that they had my before and after pictures in a frame sitting on the counter. I was so excited. I could have stood there all day proudly promoting the product and what it did for my deck. So like I said, this is my first review and I am not sure how to prove that this product really worked, but for $13 bucks its worth a try vs. replacing the whole deck. Sorry for the giant long review.

This is a cedar privacy fence around our yard. We live in Arizona and this fence has been "beat up" by our rather harsh sun for years. It did have linseed oil on it years ago, which had dried up and soaked into the wood. Anyway, the darned thing was ugly. I thought your product would help, but, not fix the years of ugly and discoloration. Well, the proof is in the pictures! To the right is after a 10 or so minute soak, hosed with a garden hose sprayer on 'jet' and dried. Wow! Will get the linseed oil on it next to bring the beautiful back. Thank you for a product that works, and works great!

This product did a fair job of removing the mold and stains from our deck, but the aftermath of using the cleaner has been a nightmare. We can't keep the squirrels in our yard from eating the wood everywhere we used the product. If we don't find a solution soon, we are going to have to replace the deck! We have tried several things to fix the problem, but so far the squirrels are winning the battle. Is there anything we can do to eliminate the problem?

We bought and used this product on our 1 year old deck and 60 day old outside staircase. The product was way too harsh - the deck and stairs now have a fuzzy appearance. We have to sand the deck and stairs before we apply stain and sealer. This caused so much more added work. We followed the directions on the product. We are so disappointed in the product.

Did exactly as the container said and now I have this weird white residue all over it. Went from a pretty redwood to this old looking wood. Winter is about here and need to get the deck sealed. DO NOT USE THIS STUFF!!!!
