I bought this 2 years ago for a wishing well and a chicken run and it has held up so nicely compared to other exterior stains that I’ve used. Moisture beads up so I know it’s protecting my wood. The color hasn’t faded or chipped away. I recently re purchased it to use on my new chicken coop. The color is an exact match 2 years later.

I have a lot of cedar in my backyard between my kids’ playhouse and patio covering. I pressure washed all of it on day one and stained on day two. This stuff is great. Very forgiving. Keep a wet edge. Slopped it on and it looks fantastic. Time will tell how long it lasts.

Just used it so not sure how well it will protect our Fence and Patio. It was easy to apply, the price is crazy High, but what's not now days. Excited that it went on clear. Looks pretty.

stains black after first exposure to rain. applied as described. now need to remove, sand and hope it comes off. there goes 3 days of my life. ogg representative says it's my fault.

No matter what you do Mother Nature will always win. Spend, work, and clean to protect a deck made of PT wood.now days is a waste.. Concrete is the only answer to get out of constant maintenance.

I had to switch after Thompson's ruined their product. This works great. Seals well and lasts quite awhile. I have over 2000 sq ft of deck, and this stuff keeps it from getting too old before its time.

It didn’t work for my fence. I did apply this product in a new fence and 4 months after this is how it looks

"Woodland Cedar" Basically ruined small wooden 2 chairs and table set...it is bright orange and very fake looking, wish i didn't use this. I guess i will try "Acorn Brown" shade to cover. But basically a waste of time and money unless this fades quickly :(

Just great! It gave the new redwood decking a great finish. It was super easy to apply and I am confident to do it again in a couple of years for maintenance.

Sprayed on and wiped off like normal stain. Turned out great!

I got this to spray the lattice we were putting around the bottom of the deck. It does not even come close to the color of the paintable version of the same color. The left is the spray and the right is the painted version. Both are semi transparent acorn brown. This comes no where close to matching the rest of our decking.

Second can in a row with a leaking nozzle after shaking thoroughly for more than two minutes. Not worth $15 for the amount of coverage either.

Has good consistency can be sprayed or rolled. Even though 'Transparent' the tint in Woodland Cedar is fairly strong and stays with the application. I would describe more as semi-transparent. During application, the product, like others, is very susceptible to hotter temperatures or sun vs. shade during application. In order to have visually appealing (even coat) you need to apply to the wood when it is all at the same temperature and sunlight conditions, ideally <80 degF and cloudy/shady. I'm a repeat user of the product, once applied, cheaper to stick with same color/product line for future applications. I get about 18 months use for sun and weather exposed areas.

should have read the reviews before I purchased this. I did all the correct surface preparation, and now have a pumpkin orange deck. It looks just horrible ! Home Depot was good to refund my money. Olympic Stain Customer Service did not take responsibility for the defective product. When I challenged the lady on this, she hung up on me ! How this was handled, has turned me right off of the brand. Not sure if she was having a bad day.

The only downfall I can say is the stain took about 2 days to dry in certain areas. Other than that, came out great.

The look at my new PT Pine sanded cleaned and stained "woodland cedar" back deck. its flipping orange not at all transparent and generally a eyesore I'm going to have to live with for a long time.WHen you crack open the container your gonna think " it will surely look different after I stir it" then a generous 5 mins of power mixing later you may think " wow this is really really bright" after slapping some on some wood and seeing how quickly it absorbs your doomed. it goes on thick, dries quickly and remains a orange hell scape you will never retreat too. Now I have half a deck in this horrible orange showing no signs of fading. so to sum up if your opinion on opening the container is wow this looks bad maybe I should return it, listen to your instincts. On the plus side it is water repellant should protect from UV and generally speaking were not gonna spend any time on this deck now so it will keep it in good shape from traffic as well. SEND IT BACK its orange you fools!

Sanded and pressure washed our new PT pine deck, sprayed on the acorn brown with HVLP and back brushed with a roller on decking and sponged on rails. It really did a great job for a bunch of DIYers, soaked in easily dried quickly. We did have a mix up with the spray gun and applied it extra thick on part of the deck but it really just gave it a good variation of color that we didn't mind, we applied a second coat to the deck to even it out and just skipped over the heavy spots. Direct light brings out a reddish tone we like and you can see water repelling a day later when the the rain came to test it

Hope this is helpful for buyers nothing wrong with the quality but the color is not transparent it is orange it should say this on the bottle I bought 2 5 gallon buckets in March of 2020 only ended up using one because the color was not what I wanted the following year I change the color and had to go with darker then I wanted to get rid of the orange color.

I purchased this to seal my newly installed wood fence. A month later after a little rain the fence was all warped from the water. I followed the directions and even laid it on really heavy and double coated it. I should have realized something was wrong when I noticed how thin and milky it was. I did a small portion with another brand and it did not warp. This stuff does not work and now I ruined my $7k new fence. I'm very unsatisfied does not begin to describe my feelings for this product. They should pull this junks of the market.

Don’t waste your money. I ran out of the other brand and bought Olympic Waterguard. I had a little left of the other Brand and then started using Olympic for some pergola parts. I left it to dry for about an hour then it started raining and when I came out, Olympic didn’t repel squat!

I sprayed 11 sections of dog eared fence panels with my graco sprayer with a 411 tip and it layed down nice. A nice rich but not overpowering cedar tone.

Applied easily, looks beautiful. Hopefully holds up to the Wisconsin weather changes!

I sanded and re stained my kid’s playground and the Olympic Waterguard semi transparent maple brown stain and sealer looks AMAZING!!

Very pleased. Easy to apply, looks great and it lasts even in the abusive sun my deck gets.

It repels water like advertised. I used a spray gun to apply it onto a raised garden. I was worried because it went on milky white, then dried clear.

I purchased the Thompson Red Sequoia from HD for my fence, then later had to replace a few slats, but HD no longer carried the Thompson, so had to get the Olympic. Same color, but it didn't match, may have to apply several coats to try to match it.

Bought the cedar stain sealer. The color was nearly as orange as home depot aprons. Was a sticky feeling when dried. Had to sand it all off and went with thompsons sealer. It coated much better and wasn't sticky at all. Even went over the sides we didn't sand off the Olympic sealer and it absorbed right in. (It shold have beaded up) even left those sides non sticky. Would not use again.

While I love the convenience of the spray can for small projects, the color did not look like the color on the can. I made 6 birdhouses, and stained the outside of all of them with this. Rather than being any sort of brown, it was a loud, unnatural, screaming pumpkin or rust orange. I wish I'd had the option of maple brown color in the spray can

I used the transparent woodland cedar stain on a 3mo old pine stockade fence. Like a lot of reviews here, I will also state that the dry stain doesn't match the color advertised on the label. However, I knew they ahead of time from these reviews and I do like the final color. I applied by paint brush and stuck to the 1gal containers. A couple things that I learned along they way: (1) it's tough to mix an unopened container as there's very little air inside. I had better luck pouring out a cup of stain into a paint tray, then shaking container, and then pouring the cup back into the container, and shaking again. Otherwise your first tray will come out thin and you'll end up needing to apply a second coat. (2) you need to shake the container every time you refill your tray because the stain will settle fast and your last tray will be super thick and dark. I've included a before pic, a couple after pics, and one warning pic of what happens if you don't mix the stain continuously during use. I like the color's contrast with the grass, trees, and flowers in my yard and I'm hoping this color lasts for a few years.

I put three coats on my deck of this at the end of fall. I scrubbed it down with a deck cleaner beforehand and gave it plenty of time to dry. Now the next spring it's already chipping everywhere. I'm going to have to paint it again which is ridiculous because I spent so much time doing it last year. Horrible product.
