[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Our deck when we bought our house was looking horrible and needed an uplift but also it needed a nice color stain and this was far the best choice we could have made and how almost 2 years with it we are happy to find such a great product at such an amazing price.

This is an excellent premium solid stain. The enduring "tacky" feeling others are complaining about is actually the added urethane rubber resin. This adds durability, elasticity and traction. It is also present in other brands of urethane-fortified stains that I have used in the past. This goes on very consistently smooth and has great coverage. Prep is key for any brand of solid stain, and you must strip & sand horizontal surfaces, clean and neutralize with wood prep, and allow to dry before staining. I recommend two coats to the horizontal surfaces for a premium durable finish.

I am very excited about how my deck turned out. I have stained with other products and this is by far the best. My deck looked terrible the person who stained before had runs everywhere on the rails the stain was peeling everywhere, after power washing we decided to try staining with solid stain, before replacing the wood. This product covered the runs and all the imperfections of previous stain. It went on smoothly and quickly, not using much stain, as with other projects I spent a fortune going back for more and more stain. It is now a beautiful deck with no signs of the horrible deck from before!

Easy to apply yet uneven in staining surface, after a year it needs a new coating again.

I wish I had read these reviews before I used this stain. I had the same problem that so many have had: the stain is sticky for days and days. The company has replied to some of the bad reviews to say that the stain should be applied only once since it is a stain and sealant in one. However, the instructions for the stain do not say that. Instead they give details about how long to wait between coats. The stain is so sticky after a few hours that you certainly could not apply a second coat within hours the way the instructions tell you to. I would certainly never buy this product again.

Love this product and had no issues and coverage was great on both an old deck and a new deck. Easy to apply and clean up was so easy per the directions.

I'm current using this Olympic stain in the solid color and my deck and fence are looking great! I feel people are afraid to use the solid color sometimes on decks and fences but it totoally changes the appearence of your home. I can't believe how well it covers and actually how far the stain goes covering my older deck. It doesn't splatter and it cleans up well for my little accidents. I actually enjoy painting more because the difference it's made on my deck and fence is beautiful!!! I'll need about 6 more gallons to give my fence and deck a second coat and I will send you a completed pic when i'm finished. Attached is a partial pic of my work. Thanks, Pam

I paid a company to do the job right. It took two coats to get a good coverage. It took 4 of the 3 gallon buckets. About twice what the directions claimed. It is 1200 feet of porch floor. It has been almost two weeks. It looks good but it is still tacky, It is not like we can stay off of it for who knows how long. Will it ever dry? it has been 80 and 90 everyday since completion.

My husband and I cleaned our previously unstained porch with Olympic deck cleaner to prepare for this Olympic elite solid paint stain. We waited for 10 days to make sure porch was very dry. We have prepped, painted and stained a lot of areas in our lifetimes. We are both over 65 and in poor physical condition for painting or moving furniture. We had our furniture moved back onto porch after cleaning and placed to one side with plans to paint one half, move furniture and paint the other half. It took us three days to complete half of porch. We painted by sitting on stools and very carefully brushing on a thin first coat. Five days have passed and each day I feel the area where we started. It remains tacky to the touch..

we built a deck and used the advanced elite solid.. it is a very pretty color. we chose the flint bc our house has gray siding with black shutters.. i love it but just wondering how long it will take to dry? i walked out there barefoot this morning and it still has a sticky feeling but doesn't come off on my feet. we did it yesterday..

We used this product on our deck which was 13 years old last summer. The deck was in bad shape with many splinters. We used the Olympic premium stripper and wash. the deck looked great after applying the solid stain. The winter this year in Western NY was very harsh with nearly 4 feet of snow sitting on the deck for months. We were wondering how the product would hold up with this type of extreme. I am happy to say even with this, the deck stain held up remarkably well. Only a few spots need touching up. I've seen many people talking about how their finish is peeling, etc. We spent significant time preparing the deck for stain. We used an orbital sander and then wiping down with a tack cloth. I think the good prep ensured a great adhesion. I'd use this product again for sure.

We painted this three full days ago and it is still tacky. I am holding out hope that it gets better, but this paint is far too expensive to have to start again. I am guessing a second coat is out of the question if it is going to take this long to dry. This is insane! I will be sure that if our paint guy doesn't know how very long this takes to dry, he will soon so he can warn others.

I bought this product on the advice of a Lowes employee. I stained my front and back decks. Its been two years now and I have to say they look pretty good still. Come spring I will have to dig out the pan and roller and touch up areas that have high traffic but it has held up pretty good. When I was buying a different product I had to restain EVERY spring. It was killing me. So a touch up every third year is great. I will be buying this product again. The employee was right, solid is the way to go.

Applied the stain on a wood walkway. Followed the directions including using the Olympic deck cleaner. There was some dew on the walkway this morning. My wife headed out of the house and immediately fell. It is VERY slippery. This is a hazard. I am trying sell my house. Disaster. What can I do to reduce slippage?

Very unhappy with the product. Should have looked at the reviews first. Painted the deck 4 days ago and still sticky. After seeing another person saying it was still sticky after 2 weeks does not make me feel any better. I will never purchase an Olympic product again.

I purchased 4 gals of this stain at my local Lowes store. I went to both Home Depot and Lowes on several different ocassions to "pick their brains" The Elite was HIGHLY recommended and i spent over $200 and MANY MANY hours, power washing, deck cleaning and manually applying with a roller and brush. It is stick sticky on what I call the floor and it will be 14 days tomorrow. It is a lot of money but even worse I am 61 years old and work full time and this job was so time consuming and now I am very disappointed in the results.
