Very disappointed
I've bought two of these thinking i got a bad one the first time as it won't set the nails even with a fresh 4.0 amp hour battery and the depth set as deep as it will go, but the second one is even worse. It won't seat the nails either ( and I've tried several different brands) and it spits out two or three nails at a time all too often. Rigid has some issues to work out with this tool.

    Died after light use
Bought this and it worked mostly fine for three jobs - some double feed and drive depth issues. Next job it crapped out midway through - took apart to fix and the drive was bent and the head had shattered off. How does this happen on 16ga nails? Bulkiness also problematic for tight trim work. Would not recommend.

Ridgid 18v 16 Gauge nail gun
I purchased the Ridgid 18v 16G nailer about two months ago and used it about 10 times, it's an awesome Nail gun. I'm driving 2" nails into 3/4" trim and drives the nails right in every time. I reduce the drive setting almost to the lowest settings. I'm not sure why there are negative reviews on this gun but I can't find anything to complain about. "Awesome gun". It weights around 12lbs, I'm 61 years old and I used it for about two hours straight and I didn't think it was too heavy.

        Batteries!
It does the job, is slightly heavy. Rubber tip won't stay on unless you use some silicone. Also, when there's about an inch left of the nail clip, you have to add another clip or it may misfire or jam. The batteries just won't stay charged for very long and I have 3 of them that I need to constantly swap out. The finish nailer I have is the angled one, which I don't see on this website, but it's the Ridgid batteries I have an issue with. I also own a Milwaukee battery operated drill, impact and miter saw which have no battery draining issues. I know what I'll buy next time.

          Great product!
I just bought this item today to finish up some trim work and am very impressed. It nailed the 1 inch nails like it was nothing. I am not sure what improvements have been made on this but it kicks butt in 2020! One thing to understand is that there is a switch on the bottom of the tool that can be set to 3/4 and 2.5 inch. I use air nailers and can say that this is just as powerful as the air nailers. If you want to be sure you have plenty of power, use a 5 amp hr battery, not the puny 2 amp hr batteries.

Terrific tool, very strong, durable and you can install 1400 linear feet of trim with one battery fully charged, (no need to haul around a compressor and a hose) it definitely is a great tool indeed!

like new gun for sale. $200.
this gun was purchased last fall. it has not shot more than 4 clips on nails. bare gun. I would recommend buying a good nail punch and hammer. you're gonna need it.

The nail gun loaded easily and works very well. I was tired of trying to nail ship lap on a ceiling upside down. This made my job much easier and thrilled my fiance with it being completed more quickly and cleaner! I have much more ship lap to put up and after a charge on the battery I don't have to listento a compressor like the other guns would have required. I'm thrilled. The safety feature prevents misfires and drives in just enough to cover with caulk.

              3 Nail Set Adjustments
There are 3 settings for nail set depth: 1) Depth setting knob on front of tool, 2) Power setting on back of tool, AND 3) There is a setting between just above the battery. I think everyone commenting about nail setting miss this third setting. I did too at first and was frustrated by flush nails until I found the third setting. I am using a 2" nail going through 3/4" pine into a stud. It's setting the nail just underneath the surfce like I want. I like this nailer. Got it well below market at a pawn shop. Probably because someone didn't like the nail set depth, LOL!

Going to come in handy while finishing the basement
As part of our review, we decided to perform an accuracy experiment. We set up a 1”x2” with pencil marks on the wood where we wanted to drive the nail. Never having had a power nailer, we wanted to learn how easy it was to drive the nail exactly where we intended it to go. The 1”x”2 is to be nailed to the edge of a ¾”x 4” board. We found that there are some raised plastic markers on the nailer guide assembly that helps this process. We learned that it is easier to position the nailer side to side versus positioning it from front to back. While the LED light helps, it is still hard to see where the nail will go, because that area is dark. However, with some practice, we could consistently drive a nailer very close to the place we intended it to go. As it turns out the more difficult issue is to avoid having the nail come out the side of the board when driving the nail into a ¾” edge. A small angling of the tool left or right causes the nail to drive at an angle so that it comes out the side of the board. Again, with practice, the number of times this mistake is made can be reduced. It was hard for us to be 100% when nailing into the edge of thin boards. Another consideration in completing good nail drives is how to get the nail to go into the wood so that it is properly countersunk. There is a depth adjustment to help with this, but it also depends on how much pressure you put on the nailer at the time of actuation. The owner’s manual says “Allow the tool to recoil away from the work surface as the fastener is driven”. While trying this, we could not really understand how to be accurate this way. We were more successful pressing down firmly on the tool as the tool fires the nail. After conducting the experiment, we decided that this is a very accurate and usable tool. With a little practice, nails can be driven quickly and accurately. It is most valuable when there are a lot of nails to be driven. It is really going to come in handy as we continue to finish off our basement. This tool also comes with a very nice sturdy storage bag. I gave value a 4 because you have to buy the charger and battery extra. However, once you have them, I guess they are interchangeable with other Ridgid tools.

                Gets the job done
I love this tool - great for finish work - no more nail setting, no hoses or cartridges needed. I drove many 1-1/2 inch nails and they all set nicely with no jams. This tool is a great time saver. It has a light so you can see where you are driving in tight dark spots. It doesn't fire unless you push the tip against a surface for safety. It loads easily and the front has a release to remove extra nails if needed. I wish I had one of these a long time ago!

                Convenient Nailer
This RIDGID nailer uses the same 18V batteries that my drill and impact driver came with which makes it convenient to use and keeps an additional charger off my workbench. It's convenient for storage as it fits in a nice zippered storage bag and doesn't need a bulky compressor or a tangle of cords and hoses. Battery power wins for saving space and keeping my workspace organized. Love the work light which can be operated with a separate trigger on the handle. When it comes to nailing, I think it worked great for some woods and workbench projects but I compared it against a typical air-powered nailer on finish trim in the basement and was not satisfied with the depth this battery-powered nailer could sink the nails versus the air-powered nailer. After adjusting the power and nail depth, which are easy to do, was not able to get the nail head to sink below the surface consistently like the traditional nailer did. This means I would have to follow up with a nail setter and that would take a lot more time over the added set up of the compressor. LOVE the tool and think its great for some projects but in this case, I prefer the power of a compressor driven nailer to make my job easier.

                Great nailer
Bought this nail gun for my hardwood floor installation. Worked great and the life time warranty & parts made it a no brainer to buy. Only wish that it was less bulky so that I could get into tighter spaces and closer to the wall. Otherwise, its perfect.

                Drives only halfway
Like other reviews, which I noted after my purchase, the nailer I purchased only drives nails (2") partially when working with trim. This occurs at least 20% of the time. This leaves a mess as removing the nail can damage the material, as does using a regular hammer to finish the job. I love my other Rigid tools (drills, sanders, shopvacs, jig saw, circular saw, grinder...), I simply trusted Rigid's nailer.

                  DO NOT BUY
You should not buy this product. It is junk and will not work after a few weeks of real work. It is not for professionals. Get the clean drive 16 gauge instead for 10$ more. It is the upgrade

                    Keep your hammer handy
Worked Great at first. After 3 days of use it is very inconscient. Drives 2 or 3 well, then only drives nail part way. Tried both adjustments , but needs to finish driving nails with Hammer.
