Perfect shape/design.
I bought this vac specifically because of the rectangle shape. It stores under my truck bed cover perfectly and there’s no wasted space like there was with my round one. And the internal hose/cord/attachment storage is a huge plus.

This thing is awesome! I researched shop vacs for a few hours before deciding on this one. Bought this one a few weeks back. I was skeptical at first but am so glad I purchased it, I use it every day. It comes with the 3 stage filter, so I purchased the 5 stage filter separately for picking up dog hair, pet dandruff and other small debris. Crazy good suction. The tool box shape is perfect for transporting, placing on a garage shelf, definitely better then the big circular shop vacs I’ve had in the past. I use it for small vac jobs around the house and it couldn’t be better. I vacuum our dogs crate/big barker off every day, vacuumed out the lint trap in the dryer, my truck, cracks in the garage, even used it for sucking out the water from the drain line on our front load washer. Not to mention I even sucked up a huge wolf spider with it. Perfect shop vac for around the house.

      best shop vac I’ve used
I love the size and that it has no wheels. All other shop vacs are big and bulky. This has all the power of the big ones in a compact size. I liked it so much I bought a second one to use as part of my two stage dust collection set up.

Hello wtcmedic, Thanks for writing a review! From your photo posted, it appears you're not using the correct filter bag for the vac. The cartridge filter goes over the filter cage where you installed your filter bag and the correct filter bag with part number VF3501 should be placed in the drum. If you have questions or you need assistance, you may call our Customer Service at 1-800-474-3443 from Monday through Friday between 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM Central Time and we'll be glad to assist you. Or, email us at info@ridgidvacs.com. Thanks, RIDGID Ridgid

Well built, easy to use, and does what I need very well. I like the toolbox shape, as it makes it very easy to store. I also like how all the attachments, minus the extension tubes all fit within the unit.

One of the best purchases for cleaning up on a job site. I bought this because I had to cut open a client’s wall and didn’t have a way to clean up afterwards. This vacuum comes in handy. The length of the power cord was surprising and the fact that everything packs up in the unit makes it easy to store and carry around to different jobs. Worth every penny. I’ve recommended it to all the guys I work with.

Powerful enough for light sheetrock work, easy to use. Needs some improvement on the storage compartments. Sometimes hard to open and the covers pull right off. Probably won't be long before the plastic hinges break.

Good vac for tight spaces - all in one kit.
The ProPack vac seemed to be the best for leaving under a small workmate workbench hooked up to the Ridgid profile sander in a small room. I had to buy the adapter/pro hose kit to get the vac attached to the benchtop spindle sander. It would have been nice to have the kit use the 2 1/2" hose ends and tools like the rest of the line above 5 gallon capacity. It's still a bit loud for an interior space. Yes the exhaust vents through slits in the lid but it would be nice if it vented on the side so the exhaust muffler could be attached. It has the internal short dust filter attached and it seems to work fine. I have not tried the collection bag but that is next on the list. I'm using it in a leather shop on a spindle sander and for minor cleanup.

Powerful enough, lightweight, compact design, nice storage spaces. I use this for everything from cleaning cars to the finish cleaning of a flooded basement after the sump pump does what it can. I have owned this for two years and purchased it from my local Home Depot. My 4-star rating is due in part to the fact that one of the hose holding clips on the back broke so I am no longer able to store the hard hose attachments on the vac, but primarily to the fact that the attachment end of the hose separated from the hose, thereby rendering the hose attachments useless. It performed well for almost two years but this break requires me to purchase a replacement hose (and I did try to reattach as the hard plastic end piece is undamaged, simply separated, but to no avail).

RIDGID needs to include (or offer) a 1 7/8" to 2 1/2" adapter to connect the PROPACK 1 7/8" hose to 2 1/2" accessories, and 2 1/2" dust collection ports of various construction site portable power tools (such as Bosch GTS1031 Portable Jobsite Table Saw)

I absolutely love how compact this is and how everything fits inside of it. Stores nicely anywhere in the garage and doesn't have those annoying wheels on it. The only downside is that the hose is very tight so it puts a little bit of pull whenever you using it. Works very well, excellent for the price.

                  Nice for me.
Im a residencial contractor. I’ve been doing mainly Remodeling the past few years. This was a Christmas gift last year. So I’ve had enough time and experience with it to give a fair review. I feel that it overall is a great vac for what I use it for. I would not categorize it as a commercial duty vac and I don’t believe that was it’s intent nor is it marketed that way. However it has withstood A lot of remodeling debris therefore it has been tested somewhat aggressively. For the most part it has held up well. I do have a couple of broken parts and is probably it’s weakest link. Two of my attachments have a cracked where they attach to the hose or an extension. I took duct tape and wrapped around them so that I could still use them. I would say that the attachments that come with this unit are on the light duty side and could be a little bit heavier gauge. A lot of people complain about the hose and I understand their complaint. It will stretch out to the length that is advertised, however it’s not real practical to do so. The unit will drag along the floor and not stay stationary if you extend the hose out to its maximum extension. It has a tendency to want to draw up when the unit is put under a lot of extra suction and can be a little irritating. I have the upgraded hose that I use for my larger rigid vac. If I am at home in my shop and I want to use this vac, sometimes I’ll use the other hose and it is much nicer. The downside to the larger nicer hose is that you cannot stowe it in this unit. Im sure that’s one of the main reasons that It comes with the hose it does. For the size of the unit it has adequate power. One of the positives I like is the the exhaust is deflected so it’s not blowing up dust from the exhaust as much as a lot of other units where is the exhaust port is open and not deflected. I especially like the fact that it doesn’t tumble over when being used and being transported. So that leaves me with the grading I’m torn between a four and a five just because of the light duty attachments that have cracked and I feel they could’ve done a little bit better of a job engineering the hose that comes with it. I’d give it a 4.5 if I could. Since I can’t, I’ll give it a four out of five. I would certainly recommend this unit or any Rigid vac to anyone interested.

This has to be the Dumbest Vac ever designed! I thought the concept was great until I had to use it. The wonderfully soft flex hose tightens as soon as vacuum is on so it doesn't stretch past 3 feet without a fight and the way it is attached to the handle part is always pinching your hand while trying to use it and putting incredible bad stress on your hand. My carpal tunnel was screaming at me after just a few minutes. Then there's the power switch designed to bump your leg where you have to hold it while using it and constantly turning off so you have to put it down and turn it back on every step you take, unless your a lefty. Also the hose doesn't pack so quick and neatly as it comes out. takes more time fiddling with it to fit inside it's case and close. Ah yes, the hose vent to reduce suction.... why is it there and right where your hand is trying to control and constantly opening it while trying to vac. Brilliantly dumb! Now the wands have been terrible for a while, still very stiff to fit together or take apart and the silly clips really don't align and close unless you force them and the wands so tight together you need a vise to pull them apart and the little wand brackets that clip onto the side of the vac are useless. they don't clip with any real clasp, knock of and catch on things to easily. Why bother???? I have the other model like it that has wheels. Great size for the power and utility and more friendly than this new Stupid design but the Rigid hoses are the most stiff and inflexible, difficult to use and the wands and attachments are poor quality. The brush has hairs that's too long and so soft it sucks into the opening and blocks debris from getting sucked into the vacuum!!! Does anyone try this stuff before manufacturing it and then selling it?? They should have fired the engineers, supervisors and marketers and taken their money back for such an accumulation of Dumb stuff!!!!! I'm going back to Shop vac or Craftsman.

It sucks ; literally in a good way! Also, it blows! Good for less precise outdoor cleaning. Had a smaller Rigid vac, I think 3.5 HP, this hands down is what you need if you're cleaning anything worthwhile like drywall dust....see resultant capture below. Great storage case. Drawback would be no wheels, but light and compact enough to carry, so I think that's a win in my book - although probably not good if you're vacuuming water and need to carry. Orthogonal design makes it easy to store in the garage too!

After several months of debate I finally purchased the vac. and I couldn’t be happier that I finally did. I use this and leave in my plumbing van. I do wish the hose holders were more permanent attachment. Maybe some recessed screws so to stil not scratch wood floors The cord is long enough for most any job.

Ridgid's Pro Pack is a winner in my book. I purchased this model 2 weeks ago specifically for detailing vehicles, I've used it on 2 vehicles (SUV and mid-sized sedan). I'm very pleased with its performance. I have not used this as a wet-vac yet, but its clear the unit won't hold anywhere near 4 gallons of water.. and this is the only reason I initially hesitated purchasing this unit. The unit is lightweight, easy to pick up and carry. The on-off switch is large and easily accessible. The noise level is better than the 15 year old vac its replaced. The stretchable hose isn't cumbersome, I don't feel like I'm fighting the hose when reaching around different areas inside the car, I don't see a great need to upgrade to the orange Pro hose *yet*. I chose this model specifically because of the tool-box design and on-board storage - everything stores away inside the unit, cord, hose, accessories. All compartments are easy to open, the lids of the 2 storage bays open and remain open without fuss. I also purchased an additional accessory nozzle (Model #VT1739) that fits in the storage bay along side the included accessories. Everything I need is stored inside the "vac-box", it's great, a neat and clean design. Love that it tucks away on a shelf in my garage. I definitely recommend this unit, unless you have a routine need to suck up a lot of water.

                          Both pleased and disappointed
Vacuum works quite well, however the hose will not stay attached to the vacuum during blowing operation. The only way I can get it to remain attached is to shove a shim under the latch.. otherwise it is completely useless. It would be nice for some one from Rigid to offer a suggestion. Additionally I feel that the brush could have been improved on. I added the pet brush from my old vacuum which slides nicely down the tube and allows me to use it on the carpeting in my truck.. I bought this item because of the convenient storage of the accessories.. which fit quite well.. the design in my opinion was well thought out.

compact, self contained, powerful...just what I needed
After only using it a few times, it is too hard to give it a proper over all rating. Performance and Durability will take time to access. Ease of use could only be made better if it came with attachable caster wheels. As my 23 year old shop vac was on its last legs, I was looking for a wet/ dry, but something compact to fit in my 2 car/work shop garage. This fit the bill perfectly. With all the attachments, 7 ft flex hose and a 20 ft power cord all enclosed, it stores on a shelf and can be put to use with out hunting for parts and pieces. Able to carry like a tool box and light weight are big pluses.

I picked up the Rigid Pro Pack Wet Dry Vac after clogging up my Shark vacuum with fine drywall dust. The unit has great suction and has good reach. All the tools either fit in the unit along with the lengthy cord, or on the back side (two extension tubes). My only gripe was that I was afraid of damaging the pull-along hookup on the extension tube dragging the dry vac around the room. I just picked up an 12x18-inch Hardwood Dolly from Harbor Freight and strapped it to the bottom - it's now extremely mobile. My wife likes that the dolly has carpeted edges so it won't damage any furniture or walls being dragged around.

Easy to maneuver on the job. powerful motor, handy accessory stowage, nice long extension cord. Lifetime warranty compared to the many other shop vacs I've been through over the years. I would of rated a "5" if the hose diameter was larger. Compared to the amount of HP this vac has, the hose diameter is to small.......larger construction debris will stick on the hose tip rater this get sucked up.

                                Powerful and compact
I got the WD4522 Ridgid to replace an enormous "jet-engine loud" craftsman vac that was given to me. The Ridgid, with the 5 hp motor is still very capable of handling everything I need in my shop and garage for wood, dust, metal shavings and occasional water pickup. It is not overly noisy and easy to maintain the changing of filters and debris. I would like to have seen more attention paid to the design of the latches for the storage bins on each end - the current design is clumsy to open, but stays shut when it needs to. It came with the fine dust filter (blue) but the HD stores in our town did not stock the regular filters (white), nor the water pickup filters for the smaller units (less than 5 gal), so I ordered these off the HD website. I did not like dragging the WD4522 around on its base, especially on brushed concrete like our driveway while vacuuming my truck. I found that the small furniture dolly harbor freight sells for around $10 works perfectly. I fastened two small brackets on each end with some rubber padding glued on and the WD4522 vacuum fits on the dolly and rolls with ease (see pictures). Overall I think that the power and the convenience of the compactness of the WD4522 makes a great tool.

great for a quick pick up especially when grooming the dog!:)
I bought this model because I saw it in action and it worked for the size jobs we are constantly doing. We own rental property and are often repairing walls, replacing trim etc...I also use it to clean up after bringing in the wood for the wood stove and even cleaning the wood stove after the embers are out....(shovel the heavey stuff though... duh...common sense?) We needed to groom our dog, who sheds a significant amount, and as it was to cold outside I stood by with the vacuum and it worked great.

                                  Great Vac
Owned for a few months now of heavy use and has handled everything from drywall dust, sawdust, large woodchips, chunks of thinset and float. Like any vacuum picking up sanded plaster bogs down the filter so I bought a couple bags that I only use for when im sanding plaster and it works great. Very glad it doesn't have wheels. The problem with pulling the round ones around was they wouldn't necessarily pull straight toward you and they would ding up walls and baseboard. Also people are saying its loud? very quiet relative to vacs I have heard with similar HP. I would not recommend standing on it, but its nice to have to set tools on top while your working Only con is the two plastic pieces that hold the tube extensions on the back of the vac get loose occasionally and have to be snapped back on. I may just glue them on and the only problem is solved.
