[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Got this as a gift from my father, my love for woodworking expands every time I get a Ryobi tool. This belt sander especially is great for tougher sanding projects and I love how it can be stationary.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I use this unit a lot, works great and battery life lasts a long time.

So I bought mine last year and been using it pretty often and first thing I noticed was it would burn through smaller amp batteries really fast so I got a 6 amp battery just for it and now it’ll last a while but it takes hours for the battery to charge. Also the belts don’t fit really tight, where if you try to apply a good amount of pressure then the belts slip and don’t spin. So I had tighten the adjustment knob all the way and it broke yesterday!!! Now I gotta get it fixed.

It does the job it's supposed to do, but the batteries go very, very fast.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I have had a corded belt sander for years but the cord always seems to get in the way. Leave it to Ryobi to have a cordless belt sander to fill the void. I used it when restoring an antique kitchen table and it was fantastic. Easy to change belts make it very handy. Another Great Ryobi Tool For My Collection!!!

I spent quite a lot of time with this belt sander before it broke and I had to return it. The overall ergonomics are nice, I loved the adjustable hand pommel, and the on switch is a nice touch that makes using the sander for an hour much easier to use. The deal breaker has to do with the dust port-- because of its position and the design, it was virtually impossible to attach any dust extractor-- which is a must since the dust bag collects almost nothing.

This is the second sander and they both have the same problem. They shut off after a couple of seconds. The sander has the connectors for use with the HP batteries but I can’t get it to run so there is no benefit. I have 7 other Ryobi 18+ tools they all work great. I wish this sander worked.

It's great to be cordless.

Do not buy this item. I returned the item the next day which I have never returned anything I have bought and used before but this thing killed 2 batteries sanding 3- 51/2 x36 in pieces of wood. The batteries were fully charged and not even a year old. I exchanged for the corded version which is 1000% better. No more worrying if it’s gonna just shut off mid-sand and not finished the project you’re working on. Plus it’s $47 cheaper for corded.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I've used this for sanding plywood joints on Flooring jobs. And I find it convenient to do so without cords. It is lighter than most belt sanders. It could use more speed, but with a larger amh battery, I like how much it helps me get the job done.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I have some 16 foot and 10 foot hand rails (treated wood) on my ramps and this sander made it very easy to smooth them out prior to painting them. Glad I bought it. A great sanding addition. I highly recommend it

Worst Ryobi tool I ever used. Belt adjustment was no use. The belt drift on this was unacceptable and rendered, what could have been a great tool, completely useless.
