[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I bought this a week ago. I ran it around 45 minutes. I trimmed 100+ boxwoods and hedges. Trimmer preformed flawlessly. It was very light weight with made the work easy. Shaping the boxwood was easy with the rotating handle. I loved the Hedge sweep, I have had other trimmers in the past, It is tough to see what your are doing without the sweep. The power was plenty to trim any bush in my yard (Roses, Boxwoods, Holly's). I would purchase again

Love it! Have a big yard & pulling the extension cord around was a big hassle. I have other batteries from other Ryobi tools so just made sure to have them all charged to swap out while doing a hedge. Sorry I didn't look into the cordless option sooner. *** Added bonus the cat approved of the box it was sent in.

Ryobi did a nice job with this tool. It’s rugged, and the Ryobi battery powered through all of my bushes. Properly care for, and store, and it won’t let you down.

I've been the one out there trimming with the corded hedge trimmers. We had three. They were such a hassle to deal with the long cords to get around our yard and to keep out of the way/avoid cutting them that I was the one who trimmed. Always. I bought this cordless trimmer and it changed everything. One of those "it was worth every penny" moments. I can now walk around the yard and get everything trimmed on one battery. (Charging is easy and fast by the way.) My wife was afraid of it at first. She used to walk around our front yard with scissors to trim. She took to this trimmer! We lent ours to a friend a couple of weeks ago and I came home to find my wife trimming. "So, they returned the trimmer?" I asked. "No, I couldn't stand to wait so I bought another one." From the woman that NEVER buys tools.

Purchase a month or two ago. Used TWICE for maybe 30 min total. The last time I goofed and left it outside and forgot. Didn't see it for maybe five days. No rain, some humidity, hot temps. The blades are now terribly rusted and coated in some sort of...well I guess it's 'sap?' They're rusty and have hard sticky dark stuff on all four surfaces (both blades both sides) I'm well aware that I shouldn't be leaving tools outside. No question. But to produce a power tool MADE for outdoor use, to use a metal that is so easily ruined (essentially. Hopefully not but...) after minimal use and mild exposure is pretty unimpressive. I haven't put much into trying to clean them. Just discovered last night. Cursory effort didn't get very far. Gonna need an aggressive wire brush or something. It'll take hours to clean these and I'm not sure it'll pan out or won't cause them to just deteriorate faster next use. When new, the blade assembly looked surgical, quality, and SHARP! I did lube before using, for the record. Pretty disappointed that a yard tool would be this fragile.

After having purchased a similar other-brand hedge trimmer in the past and being thoroughly disgusted with the battery time --- returned it --- Over time the Li-Ion batteries have come to the forefront and I was completely astonished with the amount of work that this tool can now deliver, ie, trimmed last night over 100 running feet of Eleagnus hedge cutting branches up to the rated 3/4 inch --- did not slow it down --- hedge is 4 feet tall and 4 feet wide --- and all on one charge --- after putting the battery on the charger noticed it was charging in the third flashing light area --- and in about 20 minutes battery was completely charged --- all of the above with no cord nor any gasoline to mix --- the job was done in the time that it would have taken to get out all the electric cords --- and this was all accomplished by an 83 year old man ---

Light and very easy to use

I bought this hedge trimmer during Ryobi Days 2020 packaged with 2 4Ah batteries. I wanted to replace my current system of hedge trimmer attachment and my Ryobi 2-cycle powerhead and thought I would give this a try. I was expecting it to be lighter than my existing combo, but maybe not as powerful. Boy, was I wrong! This hedge trimmer tackled my jobs with ease! The first time I used it I trimmed all my hedges and those at my folks house on 1 4Ah battery! The ability to turn the trimming blade 90 degrees from the handle makes vertical trimming easy and convenient. Incredibly happy with this purchase and impressed by how far battery powered outdoor power equipment has come!

Great hedge trimmer, love the sweep feature. Made the "dreaded" hedge trimming job easy. Ryobi makes decent tools for a reasonable price.

I’m sticking to the Ryobi 18V equipment so that I just have one set of batteries to manage. I’m using these trimmers on blackberries and other vegetation that has been left to run amok for over a decade and it’s making quick work on this difficult mess. I love not have no to deal with a gas tool, and no extension cord. I have ordered the small one handed ryobi 18v trimmer to deal with the remaining vines that require me to manipulate with a free hand to get in and cut. This trimmer rates here takes two hands for the most part. Final word of advice. Don’t wear shorts while using. Whoops.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] The two things that make a trimmer great are, smooth action and super flat results. This trimmer gives both, along with the rotating handle and brush sweeper, it’s an Amazing tool to have in your lawn equipment arsenal. Love it!!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] After my SECOND Black & Decker Hedgehog Hedge Trimmer died -- after five (5) to six (6) years of service -- I reviewed hedge trimmers and decided to purchase a RYOBI 18V ONE+ 22" Hedge Trimmer (Tool Only). A big reason for the purchase was because of the RYOBI Days offer -- low price and a free RYOBI 18V ONE+ Cordless Blower! I also purchased two (2) 18V 4.0Ah batteries, which I found out later was more than enough needed battery power! Although the RYOBI 18V ONE+ 22" Hedge Trimmer is slightly heavier and less nimble than my former Black & Decker Hedgehog Hedge Trimmer, I found it to be very substantial with A LOT MORE power. The adjustable handle, while awkward at first, is a nice, added feature. The "hedge sweep" allowed me to keep a level trim, while trimming the top of our hedge, as well as pushing debris out of the way. I like the two (2) hour charge time and the battery indicator. My Black & Decker Hedgehog Hedge Trimmer batteries took EIGHT (8) TO TEN (10) HOURS to charge -- NiCad batteries -- so I needed to be prepared in advance (making sure the batteries were charged). I was quite surprised and pleased the battery charge lasted throughout the trimming of our eighty foot (80') hedge, trimming of two (2) large bushes and four (4) small bushes along with clean up, using the RYOBI ONE+ 18V Cordless Blower, on the street-side of our hedge AND blowing out our carport and driveway! Surprisingly, there was still a BAR of power left! In summary, I like this hedge trimmer and would highly recommend it. This former Black & Decker user now wants to purchase everything RYOBI!

The trimmer is great. Sturdy, cuts through thick shrubs. It's not heavy. But the protective sleeve, blade sheath or blade cover does not hold tight to the blade. It's slide off the blade easy when carrying the trimmer around. Not need to pull the blade sleeve to remove it since it does not adjust tight. It always slide off when I hang it on the wall.

I bought this last week and am really glad! Our house front yard is maintained by an HOA. However, the shrubs in the front yard near the front door have just been let go. They finally got to looking like a massive shrub jungle - UGLY! So I took matters into my own hands and used the Ryobi 18V hedge trimmer. I bought the tool only because I already have two other Ryobi tools and two batteries and a charger. Starting from scratch there was a LOT of trimming and shaping to do. I did most of it using one battery. I had to start using the second battery before I was done, but finished up without using much of the second battery. I was a little apprehensive about shaping the shrubs at first, but I found the trimmer so easy to use that it was just like sculpting the shrubs, a little at a time. I ended up with three shrubs that are on the ground but with rounded edges and a trimmed top. Two of the shrubs had a "globe" shape (a big ball) at one time. I just trimmed from the bottom up, curving around as I went. I still have more work to do on the two shrubs to the left, but they look a lot better than the overgrown conjoined mess they were. One feature I really like and used a lot was the ability to rotate the head/handle with respect to the blade up to 90 degrees in either direction. This made it very easy to have a comfortable handle on the trimming no matter what side or angle I came from. It seemed to have plenty of power and cut right thru some hard branches that were 1/4" diameter with no hesitation. Quite powerful. If you have hedges, I suggest you get one of these and use it instead of relying on a yard service for hedge trimming.

Wow did the battery and trimmer perform excellently and never had a low battery level even after 90 minutes of trimming.Thanks Ryobi for making my life easier....

This tool is light enough for me to use alone, on a ladder, and get the job done. Did need both batteries because I have a lot of work to do, but it got the job done!

Trimmed 11 different things in my yard and still had two bars on my 4ah battery. Cant go wrong with this trimmer price is nice great power not to heavy. I also like the feature that allows you to swivel to make better cuts with less wrist strain.

I’ve been trimming my hedge for 12 years with a corded trimmer thinking a cordless just would not be strong enough to do the job. I was totally wrong, Just got this today and went straight out to try it out. Not only did it out perform the old one, it kicked behind. I am use to the job taking an hour, plus having to get the hand trimmer out to get the tough branches. This one died the job in 30 minutes and it chopped down everything, branches up to 3/4 inch thick! That is amazing! Paired up with the 4 AH batteries, it was unstoppable! Start your summer out right, Make your yard care easier!

I love this tool!! I just bought a property that had not been lived on for almost two years. Every bush was out of control, including the suckers at the base of many trees, and needed trimming. Since I'm a Ryobi guy, I have plenty of batteries and many of Ryobi's tools, but was a little concerned that this couldn't handle the job. I shouldn't have worried. This trimmer cut through everything I needed cut, and many that surprised me! I did expect it to go through batteries fairly quickly and it did not. This made a messy, job easy, without the hassle of electrical cords or gasoline. Couldn't have asked for more.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I was in the market for new hedge trimmer and wanted to make the transition from corded to battery so the next choice was the battery size. I already have a collection of 4Ah 18V batteries so I decided to go with the 18V ONE+ 22" Hedge Trimmer. I needed to trim back a rosemary hedge to do some work on a concrete walkway and as you can see in the photo this trimmer performed flawlessly. The rotating head made a huge difference in ease of operation and is a definite plus. I have been using Ryobi products for years and once again I have not been disappointed.

i had the orginal Ryobi that I bought 10 years ago. I thought it was time for an upgrade and im glad i did. This thing is a beast compared to earilier models. I would highly recommend.

This trimmer is rated to cut limbs 3/4 in in diameter. I proved this weekend with a over grown Crape Myrtle. This trimmer had no problem in shaping up the tree.
