This product is amazing and quick to use
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I put this on my kitchen cabinets and it's so easy to use and convient. With my last safety locks it sometimes took me 5 mins to get my cabinets open and I kept having to replace them. But these are easy and sturdy.

We are very impressed with these!
We are very impressed with these! It took us a little while to install them, but once we quit over-thinking it and figured out how simple the installation actually was, it was a breeze. In my opinion, the best thing about these locks is that you are able to disengage them any time you want to. I have a small baking business that I operate out of my home kitchen. It is wonderful to be able to disengage all of the locks when I am cooking/baking for several hours at a time, and then re-engage them when I am all done (when the grandchildren are visiting). We have not had any trouble with the magnets being too weak or with them causing the cabinets to stick or be difficult to open. Our grandchildren have pulled and yanked on our locked cabinets trying to get them open but the locks have held on tight. I have purchased a set for each of our children that have kids and they are all very pleased with them. We just found out that my youngest and his wife are expecting their first baby and I will be providing them with a set of these as well. These are great for people like us, grandparents who want to childproof their cabinets for when the grandchildren visit, but do not want to deal with the annoyance of child locks all of the time. We simply leave the locks disengaged and before the grandkids come over we just engage the locks for while they are here. I would like to add that it is hilarious to watch friends & family attempt to figure out how to open the locked cabinets, but it is even funnier to watch our grandchildren try to figure them out!

Works for more then just cabinets
Got these to try out on hidden gun shelves, well that is what I sue them for but can hide anything in them... Basically they are a floating shelf and once opened you can store stuff inside... Used to use friction locks. But obviously those are easy to get into... I now use these as not just everyone can get in them.. and with a little modifications to the key you can install it into a trinket that sets on the shelf to make it less obvious... Product seems to be working well so far currently I have two shelves with them and one like holds the weight of a 30" 1x10 and that length plus 2x20 1x4, plus a Ruger sr9c with 2 fully loaded magazines... And no problems coming open or anything... The other is same size but my wifes gun is a bit smaller and lighter... Just a disclaimer as I make these shelves for other people, trigger locks should still be used as I by no means call this a gun safe. They are simply a nice looking shelf you can hang up and hide stuff out if site, but with these locks you are less likely to have prying eyes or nosey whoever's getting into them... And most people don't even realize there is anything in them unless you show them

        Terrible product
Terrible directions. Terrible to install. The adhesive doesn't actually stick properly. Took me 25 to install one only to discover they don't work on our style of cabinet. Overall very unimpressed especially for the steep price tag. If I were grading this device it would get an "F".

Be sure you have the option to return these.
These locks were difficult to install. They don't lock most of the time. When it does lock, my kid can just pull on the door enough to pop it open. These seem to be designed for a very specific cabinet. This should be printed on the outside of the package. Be sure that you buy them from a place that has a return policy for opened items.

Best baby/pet proofing tool for cupboards
I have used a couple other safety latches for cupboards and this is so much better then the others. Keeps the doors closed and locked snug and you can turn the magnet off when the cupboards don't need to be locked. No more broken plastic pieces that break off or fingers that get caught in the slight openings.

              Worth the money
I'm not a fan of those hard to open children safety latches that children can still open. These magnet key locks are so much better for locking up cabinets.

                It works great, but...
We got this set since our cats are opening our cabinets banging the doors and crawling on our dishes, in search of food. They work great, but our teen daughter opened the cabinet, then put the key down inside, got her item out and shut the door, with the key, inside. Good thing we got a 2nd set, to have a magnet strong enough to open the cabinet door. I'd recommend to the company, to provide 2 keys with these sets. We can't be the only people this has happened to. I'm ordering a 2nd key, but they're expensive; HALF the price of the entire set. (Seems a bit STEEP, but we need it.) Otherwise, installed correctly, it keeps adults, teens and pets OUT.

Pricey but looks like it won't break
I needed to child proof my kitchen cabinets from a dog. The cheaper kind of child locks where you open the cabinet and push down on the lock doesn't hold up well. I tried them before and they break easily, but it's like $3 for a 4 pack so you can't expect much. If you can keep track and not loose the magnet "key", these locks look a 1,000 times better and should last for years. Home Depot sells replacement keys for about $7

Recommend for doors/drawers operated infrequently. Used these for about 4 years now. Have between 30 and 40 installed. 1/2 4-years old, 1/2 2-years or less. Few alternatives on market. Failure rate of these is approximately 30% overall, 20% in first year. Weaknesses: 1) The stop mounted to cabinet frame cracks/breaks. screws have insufficient head size to bind against plastic and prevent slippage, so if tightened to dimple plastic to ensure hold, higher stress. These break and Safety 1st does not stock replacements. If these are 'sacrificials' to prevent cabinet damage, ok....stock some extras! They cost $0.02 to mold! You are forced to find your receipt, prove purchase date, and if accepted, may be sent complete new sets. Might sound nice, but how much time should we spend correcting defective product? If they had the part stocked, the telephone rep could take 10, stick in an envelope, and mail at lower cost and better service. 2) Lock mechanism fails internally. The latch flops around and won't engage. After opening case, I found both pegs which latch pivots on were broken. Seems to be low quality ABS plastic - designed to fail. 3) If the lock is mounted near metal hardware or even hidden nails or staples in your cabinet, the latches will not work at all, or sporadically. 4) Note the 90 Day Warranty. I had to purchase a complete set of new locks after depleting my spares. I accumulated an equal number of defectives for return, in the blister pack, took them to HD, and was denied My use is a care facility for the elderly. By regulation we must keep sharp objects and chemicals in locked cabinets. So we have only trained, responsible adults operating the locks - not rambunctious children or the cognitively impaired. They've failed under my hand and I know I'm not abusing the product. As expected, I have a higher failure rate where drawers/doors are used most often.

                      Worthless
As two other reviewers said, the locks do not work. The catch is sloped to contour the sloping locking mechanism. While the looks pretty, if one has a fifth grade knowledge of friction this reduces the force needed to pull it open. I can watch the lock disengage via a adjacent door seeing that the contoured edge guides the lock to disengage. The product is completely designed wrong and does not work. While this looks convenient it is a waste of money!!!!

They are a bit easier to install that Revaself brand but 3 out of four have failed. They are not as stout. I used on house with alzheimers adult.

Not the locks you are looking for
I installed the product properly with the guides provided and that seemed pretty easy; however, the cabinet was easily opened with a small tug. The latch disengages from the catch very easily and slips open. Judging by the reviews, maybe I got a bad set of locks. These just are not working as advertised.

I should have installed these years ago!
These magnetic door locks are great for keeping little ones out of the kitchen cabinets. Once you get the hang of it, it's almost no extra effort to get into the cabinets and if you're doing a lot you can put them into the unlock position so you don't need the magnet to open the cabinet. Several months ago I installed the Safety 1st product and recently installed the competing Dreambaby product. They work exactly the same. I needed a few more and assumed there would be no difference. There are differences and the Safety 1st product is better in all ways but one. The installation of the Dreambaby product is a little more tricky to get things lined up. Both products provide a template with double sided tape to aid with installation. It works fairly well but I still had some troubles getting things lined up with the Dreambaby. It's hard to explain how this template works but it is invaluable with proper placement. The Dreambaby product provides a single template and the Safety 1st provides one template per lock. The Safety 1st template is a bit more reliable to use in my opinion. It uses paper that lines up on the wood where the Dreambaby plastic template sticks to the latch. It's hard to explain but I found the Safety 1st template to be easier and more versatile. Either way, this is just for installation. Once installed, this doesn't matter. Once the locks are installed they work the same. If they are locked you use a magnet to unlock them. The magnet is provided as the key. The magnet provided by Safety 1st is significantly more powerful. You can unlock with the Safety 1st magnet by getting close. I hold the Safety 1st magnet in between my first two fingers while pulling on the cabinet. I don't have to place it. It's very convenient. The Dreambaby magnet is not very power but is definitely sufficient to unlock both products. With the Dreambaby magnet you need to place it on the cabinet right where the lock is. This difference isn't that big of a deal, but the Safety 1st is definitely better. Both brands have a way to slide a switch to keep it unlocked, or to let it lock. The Safety 1st slides easily, the Dreambaby feels cheap and very rough to slide. With one of the Dreambaby locks I thought I was going to break it by forcing it so hard to get it moving. It eventually moved and is easier to move now. The Dreambaby's are definitely harder to slide. My wife and I can slide the Dreambaby switch but the kids cannot. Our 1yr old (that gets into everything!) can switch the Safety 1st switch easily. I love watching him lock himself out! :) The Safety 1st provides screws for mounting the locks and latches, the Dreambaby provides both double sided tape and screws. This is both a pro and con for the Dreambaby. It's nice that you don't have to bother with the screws, but the thick puffy tape makes it harder to keep the lock flush on our cabinets which have an inset panel (I don't know the proper lingo). After screwing in the Dreambaby it tilted into the panel and then didn't meet the latch. I didn't have this problem with the Safety 1st because there was no puffy tape on it. I do have one complaint on the Safety 1st product. One of our locks was broken when we bought it. Since we decided we needed a few more than the 8 that came with the Safety 1st I just threw out the one broken lock knowing the next 4 I bought would be enough for our needs. Now I wish I worked to get a replacement because Safety 1st is better. Bottom line. I recommend the Safety 1st magnetic locks. I really wish we had installed these a long time ago.

                          Worth its weight in gold
This is far better than the hook kind. My little ones tried again and again to open them and gave up when it was not easily accessible. They have lasted the test of time. You will have to keep the key in the same place to remember where you put it otherwise you can't open it UNLESS you pull hard enough that you break it and then will have to put in another lock. I purchased more than one package for my drawers and cabinet doors so luckily I have more than one key.

                          deosnt really work
Installed it according to the instructions. simply does not work. I have a cabinet that has upper and lower doors so I can actually see into the cabinet if I leave the bottom door open. I see that the latch works fine and is fully out after the little plastic barrier piece. I open the door smoothly as if there is no lock on it. I guess I am doing sth wrong since every one else is so happy with this. Tried another magnetic lock for the package, same thing.

Does what we need it to do. Slightly overpriced for the value
Installing these locks was a bit difficult - in order to line them up right, you almost need a second pair of hands to operate. Other than that, we love how this product keeps our son out of cabinets and they are easy to open with the magnet key.

                            Best Locks EVER!!
I first found these locks 20 years ago when my daughter started to walk and get into everything. I have been recommending them to everyone ever since. I just reinstalled them in a multimedia cabinet to prevent my movies and music from walking out of my apartment with visiting step children. Where I work I get to recommend these to parents/grandparents/daycare providers every day. Since we started carrying them, we can't keep them in stock. In my 44yrs on this planet I've never come across another product that I have recommended for 20yrs or more. The hidden magnet keeps my furniture looking nice and protects my belongings. I would suggest buying a second magnetic key. LOVE LOVE LOVE these locks!!!!!

These are the best locks ever, cabinets and drawers stay shut tight, so little fingers can't get pinched even if kids try to open them. The mechanisms are completely concealed. I highly recommend them!

                                Works great. Worth the price
I bought this to "doggie proof" my house. My dog can open any garbage can - so i bought the kind of garbage that goes under / inside the cabinet. i first tried the kind of child lock that you push down the latch to get the door fully open. My dog figured that one out. then i went with the outside lock that goes around two cabinet doorknobs. He figured that one out too. At a last ditch effort before I called the dog whisperer, i bought these magnetic locks. My dog tried, but could not get the door open - and now he no longer even attempts to get into it. the best thing is that the lock is hidden - plus you can turn it off when you have guests over - so they don't have to deal with the magnetic key. installation was a little difficult - pre-drilling helped as well as using a pencil to draw where the lock was going to be. I then taped a piece of cardboard to simulate the latch to make sure it was going to catch before i drilled into the cabinet door. i do wish it came with an additional magnet - it makes me nervous just having one - but thus far, we still have the magnet and our garbage stays tucked away safely from man's best friend.

I had purchased these locks about 6 or 7 years ago when I had my first son. Since then we have moved and earlier this year I had another baby. I have and will continue to recommend these to everyone I know!! Very easy to install

                                Safety 1st Locks
Excellent product the beauty of these is their versatility. You can turn turn the locks on and off. For years used the cheap plastic ones but they break and they are always on so they ar a hassle 24x7. You can turn the Safety 1st locks on and off with the flick of a switch. More expensive but in my honest opinion well worth the money. Once you get it down installation is a relative snap. I did a combination of about 8 cabinets drawers and doors today in less then an hour. Excellent product highly recommended. Not often can I say that I have endorsed a product like this.

Does what it supposed to do very well
This is an outstanding product. After our son broke thru the flimsy plastic latches we decided to try these. After trial and error on a couple of cabinets, we got these installed. These work very well. Our son got frustrated after a few tries and gave up. The only downside with this is the install (Requires some drilling). Also, I had an issue with some of the templates, they tore off instead of sticking to the cabinet when you do the pilot holes for the cabinet side, this may be because I had the package open and these had been sitting out for a few months which may have made the adhesive too sticky on one side. Also I went through one cabinet hole with the drill so be careful when you do this the first time, Usually I drill a little bit and then test the lock before stopping. Nonetheless it does it's job and really the only problem is if you lose the lock and have to purchase another, as I did.

I love this product!! The installation is relatively easy, you can't tell that you have a lock on your cupboard, it is all inside. Just remember not to lock your magnet inside of the cupboard. I can't find another magnet to open my cupboard and I can't seem to rig it to open without the key. It looks like I will have to buy a whole set to get into my cupboard.
