Great product
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] The Scotts Turf Builder was easy to assemble, instructions was very easy to understand. It's the perfect size to use for a small yard , all you do is fill it and go. The wheels make it very easy to move around and practically moves itself.

    Turf Builder
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Mini turf builder is great for smaller yard and easy to move around and pick up. I just add the wheels and it was ready to go. I like that had different dial for the seed to come out and handle can be fold down when not in use.

It makes the job faster and easy.
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This mini broadcast spreader is an excellent tool to spread seeds, fertilizer, and salts to melt ice during a snowstorm. I used it to weed and feed my lawn during springtime to promote grass growth and the removal of unwanted weeds. This spreader also comes with an important " Edgeguard " feature to prevent fertilizer from spilling over unwanted areas. An instruction manual for assembly is included and additional information can be found on all Scott's Miracle-Grow products for the number of applications to use. It is best to use gloves when applying any chemicals and wash your hands thoroughly afterward.

There is nothing "mini' about this spreader!
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] OVERLY IMPRESSED WITH THIS SPREADER! Holds 1 bag of fertilizer perfectly and liberally THROWS it at least 3 feet either side of the spreader! Cuts fertilizing time in half! The “Edge Guard’ feature prevents fertilizing the sidewalk and more for your yard! Made of durable heavy plastic, cleans up with a hose and no parts to rust out. Folds compactly for easy stowage in my shed. Love this! I’m sure it will last many seasons to come!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] One of the best lawn tools out there. Really gets the job done and helps me level out the turf really quick like. I couldn't ask for easier tool that really gets a job done here. It saves me a lot of time

                Spreader
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I recieved this spreader from Scott's Miracle grow this past week and i have to admit it was right on time. The weeds are growing already in Texas with 80° temperatures during February. With this easy to use spreader we will nip that in bud! This spreader, to my surprise, has wheels, as well as a dial to control the flow of whatever it is you are spreading. For us it is weed and feed thus far. I look forward to using this spreader throughout the remainder of the year to keep my yard healthy and weed free.

Perfect Rotary Spreader for Smaller Lawns
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I like this simple and easy to set and push rotary Scott's spreader. It has everything you need to smaller yards and is easy to store and doesn't take up much room. Light enough that you also hang it from a hook on the garage wall. The wheels snap on so there are not tools required to assemble. Quality is evident when you start to apply fertilizer and you'll see the even application over your lawn.

One of the best all-around Turf builders
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This really gets the job done in such a short amount of time. I really can't complain because it really achieved what I wanted to do without no hassle. It made for easy stores too when I disassembled it apart

                        Grows weeds
Literally just grows weeds - grew it side by side with grass seed from a landscape warehouse. Not even close in the results . Scott’s is almost pure weed and filler. Don’t buy

We're sorry to read about your disappointment with Scotts Turf Builder Grass Seed Sun & Shade Mix and appreciate your feedback. All Scotts seed is thoroughly cleaned and is 98.9 to 99.9 percent weed seed free. Natural soil contains thousands of seeds and when soil is disturbed, such as by rototilling, seeds that were deep in the soil may be brought to the top of the soil, allowing them to germinate.

                          Not good
As others have pointed out this spreader will leave lines on your lawn. First time I used it I had white stripes all over my lawn using Scotts "built for seeding" fertilizer which said it may cause temporary whitening of certain grass. Initially I thought maybe it was the type of grass or I did something wrong. Second time I used it I have green stripes as seen in the photo. A search online shows this to be a common issue since 2019. Apparently Scotts hasn't fixed this in 3 years.

                              For small yards
For a 5000 sq ft fairly level frobt or back area its fine. If you have bigger front and back yards upgrade to the larger model

Grass seed makes spreader difficult to move
I have a Scotts rotary spreader, but I bought this DROP spreder to specifically use along plant beds to overseed with grass seed. Past overseedings allowed too much seed to land in plant beds when using ROTARY spreader, requiring lots of vegetation killer the following spring. I had to apply some insect granuels several weeks before overseeding, so I tried out the Scotts DROP spreader. Everything seemed to work fine. When it came time to apply grass seed, the grass seed made the orange drum with fingers at bottom of hopper impossible to push the DROP spreader. The wheels refused to rotate. I had to remove seed several times until the orange drum was partially visable. Once I got moving, the spreader worked OK. Unfortuanetely, I had to keep stoping to add more seed. Good thing I didn't have to use this DROP spreader on my entire 1 1/4 acre lot. Not sure if Scotts designed drum to have as many little fingers on drum as they have for grass seed, but it doesn't work well with grass seed. I have not tried any granular fertilizers, but the insect killer worked fine. Since I may not overseed for another YEAR, I might start trimming some of the fingers on drum to see if spreading seed improves. I would think you would only need about 1/4 of the fingers. It's called a DROP spreader, so the fingers aren't forcing the material through the bottom openings.

                                Amazing grass seed
We live in the PNW, Washington to be more specific. I had 2 weeks in July to tackle the lawn. Luckily we were in the 70’s so we dethatched and put down grass seed and hoped for the best! We watered twice a day, and then 3-4 (5-10 minute) light watering when we hit had a heat spell and hit mid and high 90’s. It did so good for overseesing in the middle of the summer! Seeds started sprouting on day 4. it looks amazing now! I would highly recommend. I will attach before pictures and what it looks like at the 3 week mark (before first mow) and after 1st mow.

This spreader is great for small to medium sized lawns. Holds a 10 lb bag of grainulars nicely. Amazing fine tuning of speading control and dosage. Highly recommend

                                    Nice Stripes
I replaced my 20 year old Scotts broadcast spreader with this new spreader. I thought it was an improvement because it had the edge guard. This spreader does not cast uniformely and leaves 3-4” green stripes. The edge guard is off. There is a defficiency in the design. Do not buy!!

                                      Beyond disappointed
Not a novice when it comes to fertilizing. Worked 6 summers at a golf course, so I know that for the best results you criss cross your pattern. I also use a marker to keep my passes around 5 feet apart. But the design of this makes it impossible not to leave stripes in your lawn. I would have thought Scotts would have provided a spreader as good as their fertilizer.

My problem is with basically everyone else who left a recent review. You can see where the fertilizer was "spread" and it's horrible. My brother thought it was a mole making tracks! Definitely returning this although I literally just tossed the receipt yesterday. However, Home Depot can give store credit or look up your purchase if bought with a debt card within the last 90 days.

I bought this on whim not looking at reviews. my last spreader was a Scotts used it for 12years. I would have given that spreader 3 stars it functioned adequately. This spreader on first use using same technique I used with last spreader. this spreader left lines showing no overlap between rows. for what ever reason this spreader has a very defined throw left and right. The previous spreader never had this issue. The edge guard feature was disabled. I also noticed the heavy green line from accumulated fertilizer dropping to ground. this spreader operates more like a drop spreader than broadcast. Very disappointed. Shop around there are better spreaders than this one.

With the edge guard feature a gap is created above the diverter and drops extra product on the lawn which shows as a line.

                                                Creeping Charlie/Jenny seeds
Used this grass seed to over seed and patch an area. Five weeks later after fallowing all instructions less than 10% of grass seed germinated. However the bag I received was infested with creeping Charlie/Jenny seeds and now my yard, my garden beds, and the edges of my neighbors yards are infested with this pervasive weed. My neighbors across the street use no weed prevention and they have no creeping Charlie. Scott’s offered to reimburse me the cost of the seed but offered no help as far as advice or reimbursement for the cost of the chemicals to eradicate these weeds. Don’t buy seed from Scott’s! Use a local supplier or greenview.

I didn’t realize why spreaders can get so expensive. With this mini broadcast spreader you certainly get what you pay for... if that. I saw reviews just like this one at other vendors in addition to Home Depot. I’ve attached a photo of my lawn 2 weeks after fertilizing. You can see exactly where I walked with the spreader. Not much of a broadcast at all.

                                                    Poorly Design Product
I too got big green stripes on my lawn after applying Scotts feed/moss killer. Until I started researching the Turf Builder EdgeGuard Mini Broadcast Spreader, I figured the green stripes on my lawn were the result of poorly laid sod. The house is new (>1 year old) and the sod set in the spring of 2020. Sod is typically laid out in horizontal rows so I couldn’t quite square the triangle pattern in that developed in my back yard with the poorly laid sod theory. That is until I started researching the product online and found I was not alone in my outcome using the Scotts spreader. I experimented with birdseed and ran a couple strips down my driveway to test the caught-between-the-wheels theory. You definitely get a concentration of product between the wheels. It is very disappointing that an established company like Scotts would release such a product to production. This is design issue but it is also a testing and QA/QC issue (if Scott’s even bothered to QA this thing). This spreader is a fine example of poor product planning, testing and quality control. To correct the situation, I bought a Scott’s handheld spreader (you’re welcome) and applied more product (you’re welcome again) in the lighter green areas. It’s been three days since the application and it’s rained constantly the past two but it appears the light green areas are beginning to turn a deeper shade of green, matching that of my stripes. I am now researching spreaders by other manufacturers to replace the Scotts spreader I bought in the fall of 2020. I had planned to standardize on Scotts’ products for care of my new yard. I even signed up for a subscription to their annual lawn care product program. Program renewal is no longer under consideration.

I bought this a couple of years ago and it has been kept in my garage, today while applying turf builder the rotating part just broke off, I thought a quality product would last a little longer

Small and handy and nice for the price.
It’s a great tool have for a small yard where It an be hung up out of the way until needed. This would be a nice tool for yards that would be about 5000 ft.². The edge guard works very well and it does a nice job of keeping the fertilizer or whatever is in the hopper off the sidewalks. It’s also easy to use and you’ll find that on most if not all bags of fertilizers and feeds, this piece of equipment is accommodating to spread very nicely. Each pass spreads about 5 feet across from left to right.
