I needed a painting booth for my cabinet shop. This tent worked perfect with the exception of the darn love bugs. Figured out a way to solve that problem. You definitely need at least two people to put this together and pay attention to the instructions. 2 contractors a neighbor and 4 hours later we finished it.

Instructions, What Instructions?
Let me start by making it perfectly clear that I do love this product however, with that being said I must point out something that is totally incomprehensible to me. The so-called instructions, the entire book is pretty much worthless, if you look at photo (B) the Parts Identification page, it will give you a picture, amount of pieces and a part number for each piece however this page should be your first clue that something askew. There is absolutely description, such as size etc. and is not found in any paper work, anywhere. For example we have three (3) different bolt lengths included in the parts, 12 of one, 32 of another and 58 of the third, now mind you that all these blots are identical with the exception of a maximum length difference of 3/16" between them. [note] We also have 102 nuts, 102 bolts and for some reason only 20 washers, I guess someone felt that their was no need for all of them to have washers. Now looking at the rest of the pages we have many pretty pictures but absolutely NO WORDS to be found, nothing, no indications or clues on what piece to start with or ANYTHING of the sort, like informing you to NOT tighten certain bolts because they will need to be removed again during the construction and then replaced again. I am amazed that any person that had anything to do with the writing and or editing of this booklet could of even let something like this be published. What an embarrassment for the company, in my opinion and some people would of surly been fired.

I love my Shelter logic garage-in-a-box. I can easily park my jeep compass inside. No more scrapping snow and ice off my car. I can easily remove snow from the roof of the garage by using a soft paint roller attached to an extention pole and gently pushing up on the roof from the inside. Snow slides right off. Happy in the snow-belt country.

I love my garage in a box!! I use it for a shelter for my horse and half of it is used as hay storage. I just make sure the snow stays off it by using a broom to push the snow off from inside. Perfect size I only wish the door was a little different for keeping it open. But overall an excellent product!!

Directions for assembly need to be clearer. Back material had holes punched in by the loose curved metal tubes. The bottom pipes along the sides should be put into the sleaves first before brace assembly. Even though there were these issues the unit is in place, and I'm very happy that I met a man at Home Depot who was kind enough to tell me his experience with his garage assembly. Lots of swearing otherwise due to poor instructions.

Purchased this in Feb'17, and by Oct'17 and going thru the heat of a hot summer (8 mos.) the top material tore from from back to front along the top ridge. It basically disintegrated. When I finally removed the old top the material was like tearing tissue paper. I have a King Canopy that's 13 years old and it's still going strong. I can't recommend that anyone buy this product unless Shelter Logic changes the material they are using to something more robust and UV resistant... I did file a warantee claim and it was handled very well.. the reason for the 3 stars.. However if it's still the same material I don't expect it to last any longer, and $600 will be wasted...

This was easy to assemble only taking a few hours with 6 people. Only needing a rubber hammer, ladder and we used air ratchet to tighten the bolts. We had fun family time! It is bigger than I thought and hope the snow slides off the roof nicely.

I think I win for the shortest life.
I bought this garage in late April of 2017. My wife and I got it setup mid may. we bought it to give shelter to our boat in the winter. The frame design is great. We were happy to find a shelter tall enough and designed to have the snow slide off. Unfortunately 6 months after putting it up this spring, it has failed to even come close to lasting to the first snow. We are very disappointed. The top ridge of the cover split right down the center. now cold weather is approaching and we have nowhere to house our boat. After reading so many similar cases to mine with the top splitting I wish I would looked elsewhere for a good solution that would last more than 6 months.

Poor QC on frame holes, terrible cover durability
Purchased this garage a little over a year ago. Frame assembly holes were misaligned and had to be re drilled. Recently noticed a tear in the main cover where the roll up door rope connects to the cover. Upon further inspection I discovered that little to no pressure on the cover with my finger will make a hole. Cover will not last another winter.

Living up on tug hill in northern New York this thing is awesome took me and my wife a few hours to put up have 6 snowmobiles 3 atvs 1 dirt bike and canoe in the rafters if someone is having issues with durability or assembly I wouldn't blame it on the product maybe look at the people who are putting it together for the problem I plan on buying another one for the boat and move some from the other one because it's tight in there

            Collapsed Under Snow Load > 12" / 30 cm
The connection points of the frame are on the top and perpendicular to the side. I had significant snow load on the shelter, and the load bearing became in direct alignment with the frame connections and they all bent. I liked everything else about this shelter but itn is not able to withstand more than 12" of snow load considering at some point it will melt and become very heavy. Perhaps if the connection points would have been at 45 degrees to the load, or reinforced in some manner, the shelter should have been able to manage the load as it appeared to be very sturdy when I constructed it. I wish I had known about the load limitations as I would have bought the premium frame instead. Now I am back to needing a new shelter as the frame no longer has any integrity to handle even a minor amount of snow.

rip after 4 months of being up
I bought this December 1, 2016, Due to winter, did not put up until the end of April 2017. It has been up 4 months and now has rips in the top of the canopy. He really loves the size and overall pretty sturdy, just need new fabric top. Does anyone know if that is carried by the warranty?

This garage-n-a-box is perfect for the price. The item arrived at the store for pick up exceptionally quick after ordering online. It was easy to put together, even though I had to put it together myself. The picture shows how far I was able to assemble the garage without a ladder. After obtaining a ladder it was very simple to complete the tighting of the end pieces and the main cover. This garage is exactly what I was looking for, it is well made and looks great, especially with my truck inside.

Just went through a couple of massive wind and rain storms here in California in 2017. The garage is bolted down on a cement slab and it took everything mama nature could throw at it. Love it. My only complaint would be the front roll up door and the back panel don't come all the way down to the ground and allow rain to blow under the openings. Time to McGuiver something. Otherwise a thumbs up!!

                  Better than expected
I live in upstate NY and was very concerned about spending the money on this. I also live on 5 wooded acres and this concerned me as well, but I needed a storage solution to keep my tools, and UTV in during the winter months. We've had more than our share of ice this winter along with the normal snow fall. To help keep the snow off I went out and purchased a kerosene heater (23,000 BTU) and when we are expected to get snow I light it and it actually will keep the snow and ice from accumulating. It had snowed early in the season before I got the heater and this held 5 inches of heavy wet snow before I was able to get it raked off. Last night we had part of a tall pine tree fall, bounced off the house and then hit the shed. The shed had four damaged poles, and a small hole was punctured in the vinyl. I am telling you if you take some steps to keep the snow off, (and trees don't fall.. :) ) this is a good product. My plans are to replace the tubes that have been damaged and then in the spring I am going to place some panels on the roof to help reinforce this shed. I have emailed Shelter Logic for replacement parts, but have heard nothing, so the jury is still out on their customer service.

Nice product, I assembled the shed myself on a very windy day. I do not recommend this because the wind can turn it into a kite if you are not careful. But basically pretty straight forward installation. I lined the interior floor with some heavy mill plastic and then covered it with wooden skids from work. Many companies throw these skids away because they are not heat treated, but provides a really nice floor to store equipment on and keep it dry.

                    Split right down the roofline!
I bought this shelter just a year and a half ago, and today the fabric split down the entire length of the roof. It is the first snow of the year and the winds were only about 15 mph. It looks as though it separated at a seam in the fabric.

                        No Surprises
I already had 2 other Shelter Logic portable garages but larger and more heavy duty, so I do have some experience with these things. The only reason I bought this particular "Peak Style" garage was for the 16 foot length that I HAD to have. The poles are a bit small and weak for this type of design. If anything, with a roof such as this it should have been made much stronger if used in areas subject to snow. I immediately reinforced the metal structure with collar ties, bolted at the existing bolted joints on the 3 intermediate supports. I plan on putting a couple of diagonal supports at the end, without the door opening, for added rigidity. Nough said!

                        Overall good design
I've had this for 14 months and it went through a pretty rough winter with no issues. It sits in the sun most of the day as there are no trees over it so it does get extremely hot inside during the summer. I leave the door open most times so never rigged up the roll-up system that is provided. It needs to be well anchored as it is big enough to be a sail. I knew this from experience with other garages. It tends to let the snow slide right off without needing to chase it with a broom. Only disappointment is the lifespan of the cover as the other Garage-In-A-Box I have lasted much better (frame design is better on the Garage-In-A-Box SUV however). The cover just split after a heavy rain (no wind) the other day. My only complaint so far.

This will work for what I need it for. Instructions vague. Disappointed that I have a gap in front door to ground and back to ground. Did not go flush to ground. Will have to rig something to close the gaps to keep wind and weather out.

Funny You Should Ask. Garage in a Box
I purchased the Garage in a Box because I am a 77 year old widow who broke her hip and thought it would be prudent to get a temporary garage close to my house. It took my handyman, Dan, 7 hours to put it up. Not bad. I think the directions said 2 men 3 hours. We bought extra stakes to pin it down. The next day the whole deal went air-bourne (would have clobbered my Highlander except I was in the village). The garage in a box flew over a car parked in the drive and fell onto an apple tree outside my front door. My brother, a contractor, came with his crew and they reassembled it. Beat, torn, and ugly, they put it up and staked it down. Looks like the Inquisition put it back. Every time it snowed, I hobbled across the lane into the "garage," and used my cane to thump the snow off the roof. Last night we got a BIG SNOW and this morning my "garage" is a collapsed hovel. I wonder who to call to haul it away. Any thoughts?

                          not durable
No issues when purchased, however at 15 months in an area protected from wind and with no significant snow in the past winter (13) the shelter material seperated along 3/4s of its length along the first support beam below the ridge. Not going to bother with any more shelter logic products, they not durable even in mild conditions.

Good garage, but very poor quality control
I own three of these. Each one of these had very poor quality control with where the holes are drilled. I had to use a unibit and ream out the holes or create new ones entirely for the bolt holes to line up. Note that this is not something you can build with one person. You really need at least two people to put it together. Its heavy especially when you are lifting one side to put the legs on the frame. I didn't like the way it was so floppy so I redesigned it and reinforced it with additional 1" EMT pipe. Now not even the wind kicks it around. But by default there is a lot of play in the pipes so if you push on it from any side it will flex and move. If you think you are going to just put this up and use it, think again. Those little screw hooks that they give you that screw into the ground are garbage and a strong wind will rip them right out of the ground. I built a foundation of 8" sonono tubes filled with concrete and a pressure treated wood rail. Now I feel confident that it will be held down for years to come. For what they are, they are cheap. Mine have held up against thunderstorms and snow storms for one year so far without a tear in the fabric. With the right foundation and a little re-engineering they can be extremely strong. plus I like the fact that my town can't force me to get a building permit or tax me for them. I use them for my cars. I've uploaded a image that shows some of my EMT reinforcements so it might help someone else. I put 20 10 foot pieces of 1" EMT into each of these.

You get what you pay for.
I have been using this garage for six years now. The frame is very sturdy but be sure to anchor it to the ground. The tarp however leaves something to be desired. I am on my third tarp and that one just tore from front to back today. The replacement tarps go for around $250. They deteriorate from the sun and tear at the ribs and there is nothing to prevent it. I tarped the frame tight to keep the frame from moving and it lasted two years. The next tarp I hung loose and covered ribs with rubber sheeting and lasted two years. The last tarp I hung with foam pipe insulation on all the ribs and it lasted two years. this summer I was going to lathe the frame and sheet it with metal siding but today the whole top left side tore open and is laying over the side of the garage. P.S. I live in Pennsylvania and this garage is subject to the snow. I also live on a hill so it gets moderate winds and average sunlight. So in short, the frame is excellent and should last forever. The tarp, in my experience, will last two years only. I still consider this a value at $125 a years to protect my projects.
