A great addition to in my battle against raccoons tearing up my lawn
When we moved into our new home in May, the back yard lawn looked like took their 5-Iron to the turf. Having seen this before with skunks, we took immediate action to address. First, we sought to kill the grubs we suspected they were feeding on; and second, replace turf and sprinkle the repellent around damaged area. What surprised us was it wasn’t skunks, but raccoons which we caught on security video. Also noted was how their nightly lawn terror quickly reduced as they no longer lingered tearing up turf and ultimately stopped entering yard. This allowed the lawn to self-repair. In the end I am very satisfied with the repellent. My only reason for awarding 4-stars is it should be part of a total solution and not the only solution.

There are no doubt skunks can be useful in keeping the bug population down. However, tearing up the landscape garden has gotten quite old. I was anxious to try Skunk Scram since a couple of new skunks are trying to take up residence around the house! First off, the smell is strong, but did not seem pungent (hopefully skunks will not like it). The five-and-a-half-pound shaker made the application easy. I like the fact that it is all natural and will not harm kids or pets, since we have both. I tried to spread it out to cover more area since applying it was a breeze. I used it in our landscape garden and around the front porch, since that seemed to have the most traffic. It has been a week since I applied the Skunk Scram and so far, I have not seen any new damage. I am not sure how it will hold up to rain, but it is August and in Texas, so I probably will have to wait for that test. All-in-all, it sems to work well.

We are beekeepers, and the number two threat to honeybees is skunks... the number one threat is mites. That's why many hives are lifted several feet off the ground, it's to deter skunks from reaching into the hive for a tasty handful of larva. So needless to say, we're always on the lookout for new skunk deterrents, and we've tried a lot. This one is similar in consistency and ingredients to many others, mostly blood-meal and peppermint oil, in a shakable form. It applied easily, just flip the lid down and shake it out, and it smelled pretty good going down (some of them smell absolutely dreadful and make working in the hives miserable). Unfortunately the deterrent effect only lasted about a week, with one mild rain storm in the middle of that time frame. We applied the skunk deterrent on a Monday, and on Saturday morning we noticed a large pile of skunk scat on the ground inside the perimeter we had shaken out. I'm not sure I would use or recommend this based on that, it would be simply too expensive and too time consuming to reapply this product once or twice per week.

Who Wants a Stinky Visitor? This is an easy to use tool to have in your tool box to keep skunks out of your yard. It doesn't get much simpler than this, sprinkle it directly from the dispenser onto the perimeter of your yard to create a "skunk exclusion zone" The material is brown and blends easily, perhaps a color would be welcome so it would be easier to see how well I've applied it would be nice. I expected the stuff to stink as bad as skunks, but surprisingly it has a non-offensive smell, hopefully it's offensive to skunks. There's a bit of contradiction on the label, the ingredients look pretty tame, all natural and environmentally friendly, mostly peanut hulls, and natural oils, but has a note to call the poison control center for treatment advise if exposed? I think this is a good complement to your skunk strategy along with insect/grub control.

I was a little skeptical at first. My first thought was it may smell worse than the skunks perfume. When I first opened the package, it was pretty strong with the scent. We had some skunks trying to burrow under a shed. We spread these pellets around the shed and haven't seen any skunks since we spread this around.. We have not seen them in other areas as well since we spread these granules. . The granules look like coffee grounds, but smell mostly like the citronella in the ingredients. It has several different oils for the repellent and peanut hulls as the media that carries the oil scents. I am trying it around the front porch to see if it keeps other critters away, like mosquitoes and maybe raccoons. Being natural it shouldn't hurt the cats that keep the mice and hence snakes away. So far so good and I will be buying some more for some other areas.

This repellent smells really good, all organic herbal scents. I read the directions first, and saw that you can make a golf size packet of grains and throw under sheds and patios, so I did it. Not sure where the skunks come from, but I will throw some on the storm drain in front of my house just in case they are still hiding there. I had already put hardware cloth at one end and not sure if they can enter the other end. Hoping this deters them. Only want ceramic skunk garden figurines.

That time of the year the skunks are out and about! We have a couple that visit every night. I really don't mind them too much since they eat bugs, especially Japanese beetles. But we have an outdoor cat and I am afraid he is going to get sprayed, or one of us when we walk out at night. I have tried the ammonia on a rag but you have to constantly rewet daily. So I am trying these pellets. I don't want to hurt the skunks just deter them away. This is easy to put down. This is strong smelling, smells like lemon furniture polish. It has Blood Meal, Garlic oil, Citronella oil, Rosemary oil, Thyme oil, Peppermint oil, Cedar oil, and Lemon grass. All natural. So far I haven't had any visitors! It's kind of expensive and if you have heavy rains then you need to reapply. But if it works well then it is worth it.

Strong smelling stuff. I like the smell of this stuff, I guess the skunks don’t. If you read the ingredients, it is comprised of peanut hulls, blood meal, and different oils. I assume the purpose of the hulls is to capture and retain the scent of the oils for as long as possible. The combination of smells creates a lavender and Rosemary type of smell, at least to my nose. I get an occasional skunk in the yard but more so stray cats. I am hoping the strong smell will dissuade both types of critters from spending time in my yard. The container is very easy to open, carry, and dispense from. As you can see from the photos below it has a grid type covering on the opening so that you don’t end up dumping the whole thing out in one spot.

We've had a bit of a skunk problem since we moved in eight years ago. My dog just got his annual 'I didn't learn my lesson last year' spraying a few weeks ago (3 skunks this time). This comes in a shaker top container that allows you to spread these pellets around your perimeter. They don't smell bad, almost like the skunk shampoo I use to clean up my dog...kind of minty. I went around some flower beds and my entire fence line in the back yard (about an acre) with half of the container, so I'll get two treatments out of this. They aren't supposed to be harmful to kids or pets, but I put on the outside of the fence to be safe. In any case, it's been nearly a week and I haven't seen (or smelled) any skunks. Could be a coincidence...or it could be working...I can't say for sure, only time will tell. The only downside is the cost if you have a big yard. If it works and lasts a while (at least the 30 days that they claim), then it's worth it to make sure my dog and house don't get skunked again. It doesn't harm the skunks either, which allows them to go on a live a full and enriched life...in my neighbor's yard.

Skunk is not a desired critter around home for nasty smell and damage they do around the yard. We often smell this critter in our bedroom as we sleep with windows opened for fresh air. They are active during evening and night digging up the lawn and garden area ruining hard work we put behind good lawn and garden. I like that this natural product is designed to drive them away form your yard. There are no known traps so best is to drive them away from your yard. I like that while the skunk will not like the odor of this product it actually is not bad smell for us. Simply sprinkle it around damaged area in the yard and you should see less and less Skunk activity as you keep treating the area. I like that it is safe for human and pets and has large easy to use container size.

The ENVIRO PROTECTION INDUST SKUNK 5.5 LBS. granular repellent so far has worked (2 days so far with no holes under the fence) it says all natural and actually has like a concentrated lemon pledge smell a bit strong but not unpleasant. The granulars are a dark brown and kind of disappeared in the dirt and our brown mulch the test will be how long it will last and how often it has to be used. Hopefully the skunks take another route for good.

Totally ineffective
Applied in afternoon, skunks dug up lawn that night and seemed to focus on areas treated. This product is more of an attractant than a repellant!

'Snake Oil' product. Don't waste your money!
Disappointed in Home Depot! Not "GURANTEED" as promised on the label! I followed the directions and applied in my backyard. Very strong perfume smell. The first night only three skunk holes, promising. However, the second night the skunks returned as if it wasn't there, 50+ holes! Tried to take back to my local Home Depot store and they were rude and insulting. Because I had actually opened it and used it, they refused a refund! Don't buy this snake oil!
