Big brother for my Snow Joe Shovel
Tighten 4 handle knobs, then assembled and attached the lower and upper chute rods and my Snow Joe was ready to go. Ran the thrower and it was louder than I expected. Everything looks and feels solid. Have had a Snow Joe electric shovel for several years and it has worked great. That's why I thought I would try their snow thrower. I like the idea of not having to deal with gas and oil.

      Snowblower
As soon as I unpacked the snowblower and set it on my garage floor, i noticed that it would wobble back and forth. When the 2 back wheels was setting flat on the floor the front of the blower was not. One corner was touching the floor but the other corner was up 1 1/2 inches off of the floor. I called SnowJoe to see if there was an adjustment. They said no and they said it was a defective product and that I had to send it back. They said that they would have to receive this bad snowblower first before they would send me a replacement blower. So I sent it back that same day I received it and they got it within 2 days. It still took them a week and a half before they sent out a new one.

Cleared our sidewalks effectively. Good value.
This Snow Joe Model # SJ623E snowblower is easy to set up and use. For $170, it's a great value. Well worth the price for the time it saves us by eliminating shoveling. We have little driveway but plenty of narrow sidewalks. The unit is a good fit.

        right out of the box!
in 15 minutes after you unbox it, you can be clearing your path, easy set up. The machine is light and easy to maneuver. Remember to get a power cord rated for all weather and a 15 AMP rating ( you don't want to void the warranty!). For my drive I would need a 100' cord. Use an outlet that has a minimum of 20 amp breaker running it, or you might be reseting it from time to time. Robust augers made of rigid steel with rubber wipers should last an awful long time! Oh, one more thing go and get a can of silicone spray and coat all the surfaces that are part of the removal process. This will reduce that tendency of snow and ice to build up. I use WD 40 brand SILICONE spray as it states it is safe fore both metal and plastic surfaces. The next snow fall, with Snow Joe,, you will be finished before you realize it!

SJ623E Great snowplow failed by bad wiring
I purchased that in 2018 and used it lightly less than a dozen times. Today I tried it and it wouldn't run past 5 seconds, with noticeable smell coming from it. When I opened it up, I saw that bright light was coming from the area where brushes should meet the rotor of the electric motor. At closer inspection, I saw that the housing of the brushes are brass tubes connected to the power cables using brass springs connected at both ends forming a circle. That spring circle was supposed to go over the brass tube on its own bed. Strange design but who am I to judge. Then I saw that this all was only TWIST TIED with the power cable. No soldering, no connectors, just twist tied. The design made this and buried it in the core of this machine and expected it to be subject to bumps and vibration and expected that to work. To me this is a reprehensible underperformance of the design, not manufacturing. All other elements on this machine work flawlessly and have been done up to par with the intended usage and conditions. However, this connection to me should be a subject to a product recall. Also, I didn't like when I contacted customer service I learnt that they don't even have a part number for the brushes which should be only consumables and should be carried by the importer or manufacturer. I wouldn't trust an electrical motor product whose manufacturer doesn't even offer the brushes as replacement part. SunJoe/SnowJoe have some good products but I did not like that issue and how it was treated by customer service one bit. Huge turnoff from the brand.

Mean Blue Machine Hard at Work
It is small but if you are patient it can do a lot of work. We had lots of snow this winter and the SJ623E can move it from place to place to clean the driveway. You bring the snowbank to an acceptable height and the blower takes it from there. The blower works best when blowing directly to the front.

                Couldn't be more happier!
I have to do a disclaimer, the video and picture are of my older 621 model. I sold it to my nest door neighbor and the purchased the 623. We have not had any snow since it was delivered, but if it works like the lesser 621, I'll be thrilled. Easy to put together, easy to store and oh yeah, easy to use.

I bought this a month ago and was waiting a big snow coming until last Monday to test this E-snowblower. I am so happy that I got this because it is powerful with 15amp.

                Decent, but beware the plug
I've used it once this winter since our snowfall hasn't been that much lately, but right away when trying to plug it in, there's a round shaped cover on the plug. My extension cord had a ground connector so the shape is not round. Therefore i had to use pliers to change the shape of the round cover. That concerned me because if i didn't like the blower, this might be cause for it not being accepted for return. Since the round cover is pretty stiff, the plug can't be tight so it would occasionally lose connection. Also this problem was expected: having to worry about the cord while using the machine. But the snow throwing aspect, it did the job. I'd have to use it more often to be more content with it, but that one time i used it it did the job.

                Could not believe it
Like many folks shopping around for a snow blower, i had my reservations. Seriously. But it was on sale and the motor seemed big enough for what we needed. It arrived 2 days ago. Last night and this morning it was snowing heavy slush. I didn't think it could handle it because I shovelled a bit and it was heavy. So i stopped and did the sidewalk and a path from our front steps. I had brought it to the garage to store for another time when there was fluffier snow accumulation. Not this wet heavy stuff. But then I thought. What the heck. This is a test. It is a corded unit, so handling of the cord would be something to be careful about and cumbersome. I would not take off a star for this. I could not believe how it handled today's (Nov16-18) wet heavy slushy snow with ease. I was shocked. We have a laneway between the homes and it's quite a bit of effort to push the snow front or back. Especially when it's slush. It gets very heavy. The unit itself has auger blades that are made of metal with a rubber piece that mounts directly on to it. Only the rubber blades ever come close to the driveway or deck surface. Not the metal part. Some other models I saw have a slightly different design where the blade is completely rubber and only the ends and middle are bolted to the auger shaft. The only negative i can point out is that the front light only comes on when the unit is in operation. They have other units where the light is higher up and has it's own switch and it remains on when the unit is plugged in. This also has it's own switch. I thought it would stay on and I asked this question to the support chat and they said it does, but it does not, unless you have the lever going. Would be nice if it was on regardless if the auger is going or not. This would be handy on evening use. I also noticed a slight burning smell. Not sure what the source was from on the unit, but the unit was brand new and could be from first time use? There was no noticeable change in the performance. The tool to clear clogged snow is a nice addition that is way safer than using your fingers. Comparable models on competitors don't have this. Especially at this price point. It's small enough that we plan to bring this to the cottage to help us make the shovelling jobs easier, such as clear the snow to get to the front door after the snow plow contractor clears the driveway. And clear the deck & patio. Best pro is the price. I got it on sale about 1/3 the price of other brands. It did the job. And it did it well. Very well.

This product will *NOT* work with snow that is has any more moisture than normal. It *ONLY* works well with snow that is fluffy and dry. If you can make a medium hard snowball, this unit will be more work than using a shovel. As someone who's now long in the tooth but of strong build, too much weight, and a weak back, I bought this unit to do our front entrance walk (80 feet), rear oil tank fill path (50 feet) and to cut a 360 degree path around our house for maintenance and safety access (about 200 feet). I knew full well it wasn't remotely anything like a $800-$1,500 gas-powered 2-stage snow blower but expected it should, to some degree, be better than a shovel. Oh, how wrong I was. Soon after it arrived, we had a 6-8" snowfall with average moisture content for our location in central Massachusetts about 50 miles due west of Boston. It wasn't what we here call "wet" snow but, rather, what we call "normal". It's not dry, not wet, but just moist with some weight to it. For its very low cost, I did not expect the unit to work super well but did expect it to require less work than using a shovel. No way! I pushed the unit into the snow and it went nowhere. I then pushed extremely hard with all my might and it managed to spit out a wee bit of snow a few inches at a time. I then started sliding backward since the ground is always icy here when the temperature is at its usual winter temperature below 32. OK, so it's *really* weak. I then thought it would be interesting to see if I could help it work by shoveling a starter path along which I could use this unit to grab just 3-6 inches of the edge wall of the path I just shoveled. That sort of worked but it required pushing it with a LOT of force. Anyone of slight build and weight would have some trouble. Since the ground was the usual icy for winter, my feet were slipping and sliding. OK, so using all my might and going to insane lengths to try to get it to work, I managed to do just (and only) that. But that was at the expense of lot more time, a lot more energy, a lot more hassle and a lot more pain than just shoveling by hand. Especially since I had to push it back and forth 4-5 times the full length of the path to finish the job. If that all sounds ridiculous, it was! I think I was trying too hard to justify having spent the money and was hoping to find a method where it could save me some effort and pain in the back. To add to all that misery, with my feet slipping on the ice, I had to grab and manage the long extension cord on each of the 4-5 passes. You see, you can't just turn it around at the end and plow back the other way. The extension cord is then in front of you. Instead, you have to back up the entire length you traveled, whipping the extension cord out of the way as you do so. Then start all over moving forward again. Alternatively, I tried plowing multiple slices forward at a time, the length of my arms then moving back to the side, a few feet further along and repeating. That that turned out to be more hassle than backing up, clearing the cable out of the way, and pushing back forward for another long narrow slice. When done, I then had to pull back and re-coil 100 feet of extension cable then bring in and store the unit out of the way. After getting back inside, I I realized just how bad the unit was for our needs and how much it stressed my back in the process. I had to laugh, though, at the fact that I had to manually shovel the entire length of the walk in order to help a device I bought to avoid shoveling. Does it have any value? I find a usage scenario very hard to postulate. For example, even if you live in a place where you always get fairy tale snow that's all fluffy, it would then be far easy to get one of those wide 2+ foot wide push shovels that sweeps up and holds lot of snow at once. Ours is about 30" wide and can gather a lot of light snow. It works out to about 60% the width of our front walk so it's only two passes - albeit, with several pauses to tilt and empty. Even if you only get magic fluffy snow which the unit would probably clear well and you don't mind (1) pulling it out, (2) unraveling 100 feet of extension cord, (3) managing 100 feet of cord while you plow, (4) don't mind not being able to turn around and plow the other way, (5) re-winding 100 feet of cord when done, (6) bringing the unit back in and storing it; the problem of managing the long extension cord as you plow still makes the unit a big hassle. So, I gave it my best try, *really* wanted it to work and went to insane lengths to help it do its job. After all that, I think it's just an interesting idea at a great price point that does not work for any typical snowfalls I've seen in well over 1/2 century living in the NE. Note well, that if the snow is dry enough for this unit to work well, it will be much easier and less hassle to use either a push shovel, one of the many "ergonomic" shovels with a bent handle or, like one I just bought at the supermarket, a shovel with a 2nd shaft welded to the main shaft giving you a 2nd handle to lift and the dump snow with without having to bend over much at all (highly recommended). Bottom line: If you gets lots of normally moist snow your only choices are: 1. Take your time, do it by hand with an ergo-shovel. Do it in stages as snow falls so you don't end up with 12" to do. 2. Invest in a gas-powered 2-stage snow blower strong enough to do the job. But that also means its: (a) expensive $800-$1,500+ (b) big with its attendant problem of where to store it, (c) heavy to move around, (d) yearly maintenance hassle and costs (e) breakdowns and repair costs (maintenance contracts like Sears add a *lot* more to the cost). 3. Hire a part time handy person or school kids for a few bucks but trying to find/schedule them is a problem. 4. Hire a snow clearing company at VERY high prices and they don't like doing walks. They just want to run there truck plows as fast as they can to clear your driveway only. Ask about shoveling your walks and you'll blow a gasket when you get the estimate. What? You want me to get out of my truck and shovel your walk? Forgetaboutit! I think that sums it all up. I hope that helps.

                  VERY DANGEROUS, start by itself
This thing is a SERIOUS HAZARD. It cannot stop, even when the button is turned off. Releasing the handle do NOTHING, it keep spinning. The worst of it all is when I was working on the deck for other thing and it STARTED BY ITSELF, I had to unplug the thing to make it stop I tried to bring it inside thinking it was ice but even after that it is still doing it I have two of them and at this point I am seriously afraid to use them

Fine, if snow is light, but heavy snow, wet snow clogs the vent quickly. I like that it’s easy to run, very safe, and good for a person who is older and not so strong.

Just used it for the first an hour ago. Had about 4 inches of wet snow on driveway and this made short work of it. Motor never bogged down. This is a heck of alot easier than shoveling. Only negative way having a cord to manage, but I didn't have to fill with gas, prime or pull a pull cord, so I can deal with a cord.
