The Stylewell Taupe light filtering fabric roller shade is an excellent shade to block out the sun, and at the same time allows some light in. The shade was quick and easy to install with the supplied instruction, and did not require any specialty tools. We had a problem with the afternoon sun shinning into our living room. The shade softened the glaring sun, without darkening the room. It pulls down and rolls up easily, and there is no rope hanging down for the children or pets to play with, or get entwined in.

I gave the quality a 3 because when I opened it, there were some light duty plastic pieces for installation. The roller end itself is also plastic. I am hoping it holds up over time. Our bedroom window overlooks into our neighbors window and I really liked the fact that I can install this is blackout to block him out. An added plus is that I can easily roll it up when we want to let the sun shine in. I will be installing this behind my curtains. It also is going to be very easy to clean which is a huge bonus because we have two nosy dogs.

I gave the quality a 3 because when I opened it, there were some light duty plastic pieces for installation. The roller end itself is also plastic. I am hoping it holds up over time. We live on a corner and I really liked the fact that I can install this is blackout to block out the street lights and cars going by. An added plus is that I can easily roll it up when we want to let the sun shine in. I will be installing this behind my curtains. It also is going to be very easy to clean which is a huge bonus because we have two nosy dogs.

I got two of these roller shades at the same time as I have some double wide windows that they would work nicely in. Unfortunately, they basically the same. The quality of the workmanship leaves a lot to be desired. This one has the same problem. The roller mechanism is very bad. It does look nice when installed and is fine if you never need to adjust it, which defeats the whole purpose.

Got this shade to replace an old horizontal shade that was not longer usable. I needed a shade that would block out the morning sun since the window was on the second level and faces east. Installation was a breeze once I trimmed it to the correct length. These can be cut at Home Depot at no charge, But I just used some painters tape to go around the PIN END of the shade. The end that connects to the smaller bracket can be pulled out of the tube so it can be cut. I used a Ryobi Circular saw with a new Carbide tipped 40 tooth blade to cut through the painters taped end and it worked like a charm, Just go super slow so it won't tear or rip. Once trimmed I just re-inserted the end and it snapped right into place. Once I pulled the shade down it still wanted to curl on the edges, But I am assuming it will relax with time, But that is the only reason I gave it 4 instead of 5 stars.

This is a nice light filtering fabric roller shade that was easy to install...it tooks a total of about 15 minutes including getting the ladder out and the tools required for the installation. We put it in our enclosed gazebo to block out some of the late afternoon sun when we are sitting in the gazebo. This shade can be cut in the store to fit your window or door if needed. We decided not to have ours cut yet and mounted it as is until we can finish the trim and then decide the correct width. It seems to be a little slow rolling up even after adjusting the tension.

Custom cut at a HD store, but this fabric doesn't cut well because it left frayed edges using the standard cutting machine. Since these are a new item, perhaps they'll have a better machine that will cut the fabric roller shades better. In the meantime, I was able to fix the edges with sharp scissors. The fabric is a nice gray, so it matches with any decor. When you get these cut for inside mount, deduct 1-1/8 inch to allow for the side brackets. When you measure the cutting, only measure the fabric piece not the plastic ends. HD will also cut the plastic stick that goes at the bottom of the shade. This is my first time owning roller shades so I had a hard time trying to understand the instructions for adjusting the stop position. I followed it and it still didn't work. Installing the brackets for inside mount is very easy because there is no leveling or marking needed since it fits right at the edge of the frame. To adjust the tension, pull the shade down, remove from the brackets and roll up manually. Re-install in the brackets. Keep doing this until desired tension.

I got these to use in place of mini blinds but ended up just putting them up over the blinds. This one lets in a lot of light from outside and when it's dark outside people can see right in the window like the shade is not there. Not good for a bedroom for sure. Putting them up I thought would be easy, NOT! Definitely need two people, trying to center the shade on the window and mark the area for the screws by yourself is a nightmare. As far as the way they work it tends to creep up by itself. Put these in and about a half hour later it had gone up by itself about 2 feet.

Very elegant roller shade with super simple installation. Got this solar shade for my garage windows. My purpose is to let the light in but give privacy from outside. This shade perfectly met my needs. It came in a clean packaging with all the installation fasteners. Was able to install with in half an hour. They gave a plastic rod to fix it on the bottom as a weight to keep the shade hanging down. But I wish they gave something little heavier.

This StyleWell light filtering fabric shade is designed to gently soften incoming sunlight and add privacy. The lift speed is easily adjustable , stopping when fully retracted or at any required height. It is easy to install as a surface mount where length is not critical and the wall is the standard sheet rock with wood behind it or you can use any of the expanding fasteners type that you can get anywhere that the sell “hardware”. The shade is not exactly as i thought it would be, it looks more like good quality Vinyl than fabric and you can not see anything through it, but it does the job of allowing quite a lot of diffused light in to brighten your space, but still not allowing someone to see in and that it what I was after.

I will use this for my sliding patio door to block out the light. No inconvenience at all opening and closing, rolls up nicely just like a standard shade. Works exactly as I wanted, instead of the slat type blinds that constantly fall off. This blocks out all light just like I wanted. The material is great, cloth but also has a sort of vinyl feel as well. Seems like it will hold up nicely for a long time. This will provide privacy.

StyleWell Gray Blackout Fabric Roller Shade 37.25 in. W x 72 in. L This shade's online picture could lead you to believe there is some sort of valance at the top, but it is only the actual roller. Because the photography shows the top extends on both the left and right sides of the top, it looks like some sort of cover, but not so, it is a deceiving image. The fabric shade does block out light, but the surface is easily scratched by my short finger nails. While you install it, take care not to allow the material to create a fold because we found that would leave a white mark. The low cost makes this shade appealing, and with some care in use it will be a serviceable window covering.

StyleWell Gray Blackout Fabric Roller Shade 55.25 in. W x 72 in. L Don't expect any top or valance that covers the roller, this shade only has the exposed roller at the top. I don't think the online photo makes that as clear as it could be. It would look great behind sheers or drapes that don't give privacy. The smooth polyester grey fabric is nice but take care not to have it crimp or double up, because you will be left with a white mark at that spot. We also found it is easily scratched. It does block out all light and gives complete privacy as long as you measure carefully to cover the glass. Once installed the shade worked as we expected.

The StyleWell Gray Blackout Fabric Roller Shade 73.25 in. W x 72 in. L is a very nice shade for an office building or other type of building that you don't mind the style but just want privacy for that it does what it is intended to do, I installed it in my home but wife did not like the bland look of it and asked me to take it down. Very easy to install and directions are great and functions very well. I don't think it is for a house or home it does not have the warm look to it that you would expect in a residence and it says its fabric it probably is but it just looks like plastic to me. I gave it 5 stars all around for an office window cuase it does the job it is intended to do.

A great shade and very well built. I ordered for a room painted in light gray and wanted a "blackout" shade to block the afternoon sun and blend with the décor. I was concerned about the "fabric", wondering if it would truly block the sun. It does! I am not sure what the fabric is, but it is tightly woven and thermal backed. It has a coating which makes it easy to clean. They come with sturdy, white painted hangers which can be hung from the upper frame/ceiling or wall mounted. The rollup height can be easily set as well as the recoil tension. It has a lightweight plastic rod which inserts in the bottom seam loop. I did have to attach Velcro tabs on the bottom corners to keep the shade from flapping in the wind when the window was open, but that was not a big deal. The installation directions were clear and easy to understand. 5 Stars for Design, Quality, Appearance and Ease of Installation.

Does the job. The item arrived well packaged and undamaged. The box contained the roller shade, two brackets, 4 screws, and instructions. The instructions were excellent. Very precise and easy to follow. Installation was straightforward, but required an additional trip to the hardware store. Three issues encountered. One: I recommend drilling pilot holes prior to screwing on the brackets. Two: the screws provided are cheap, poorly made, soft metal. The heads stripped easily even though I used a hand screw driver to install. I had to replace the screws with stronger versions. (Hence a trip to the store.) Three: adjusting the spring tension so the roller goes up and down smoothly is not easy. It takes a lot of playing around with the tension gear to get the shade to perform properly. Once installed the shade looks nice and cuts out the light very well. I like how you can choose an inside or outside the frame installation. The shade material feels like a textile covered plastic. Soft to the touch with the right amount of stiffness. The box indicates that you can take the shade to certain home improvement centers for a custom cut. I considered it because the inside the frame installation would look nicer, but decided against it because I wasn't sure if Home Depot had the ability to do so. In the end it worked out and it looks nice.

This StyleWell blackout Roller Shade meets expectations! It does block direct outside light but the installation should consider light bleeding around the edges. The shade itself is made of thick durable vinyl, and is easy to keep clean. No valence is included; the shade should be installed with other window treatments such as curtains. All the mounting hardware is included, and installation is Home-Depot DIY easy.

I have two double windows downstairs in my home. I got two different Style Well rollers for them. When I got them in the mail, I took them put and measured. They fit a double window without cutting width at all. Perfect fit. But they also looked different than the picture online. They looked like an office, rather than a home. As soon as I showed my wife my plan she vetoed it. They are nice and high quality. But they aren't very stylish. Knowing this in advance may help.

This Stylewell Light Filtering roller shade in grey is a great idea for filtering out the sun. It is see through but offers privacy. This is cordless. No dangerous cords hanging down. It rolls up very nicely. I discovered the adjustment roll on the left bracket. It needed to be adjusted to work well. Installing it was not complicated. There were instructions included. There should have been more clarification on some details. After removing the old window treatment, bracket and filling in the holes, then the new brackets were next. It gave three choices of bracket placement. Outside, top of frame or sides of frame. I chose the top mounting. After drilling one eighth inch pilot holes, the brackets were screwed into the top frame. The larger one with the wheel on the left and the one for the pin on the right. One of the details that needed clarity was what kind of pin it was. Adjustable or fixed. It was actually all the way in the hole of the roller end. So after prying off the end, discovered a loose cap in the roller. This meant to be attached to the inside of the roller cap. That made the pin stay out. It was a fixed pin. This is true to size. No cutting one quarter of an inch off. The shade comes in several colors and sizes.

A great roller shade for any area! I put this one in my garage. It was very easy to put up. Measure the total length divide by 2 and then mark your opening. The instructions say you need a 1/16 drill bit. I didn't really need one. I put it through the drywall and into the wood below with just the screws and a drill driver. Once up just install the shade in the brackets and put the plastic stiffener in the bottom of the shade. What I really like about this shade is that when you raise the shade it comes up slowly. When it gets where you want it just hold the shade and it will stop! No old fashioned high speed up and never able to stop where you want it. The light is filtered nicely and comes through the shade softly. No complaints and a great price point.

My mancave is my patio. I enjoy the afternoon just sitting there and watching old westerns on television. I've had a problem with the setting sun every afternoon being in my face. This has become very annoying. I installed the StyleWell light filtering shade to block the annoying setting of the sun light in my face every afternoon. I didn't have to cut the shade from its original width of 37" and a length of 72". Installed on the inside supporting length beam on the patio support. The setting sun is blocked by approximately 95% offering me comfortable viewing my old westerns on tv.

The StyleWell Taupe Light Filtering Fabric Roller Shade- 55.25in. W x 72 in. long is a replacement for my old mini-blind that has seen better days. This roller shade comes with mounting brackets and all other hardware. Nice to know I will not have any cords to keep straight and out of the way. I can adjust the lift speed and have a preset height which I like. The fine fabric shade does soften the incoming sunlight. Very nice quality shade.

Everything about it is exactly right — the texture; the light-blocking; the fit. Thanks for an excellent product and developing the employee at Home Depot to understand how to properly use the cutting machine.

The normal person was not there to cut the shade. They followed the measurement on the shade itself (paper ruler), but that was was incorrect. The shade was requested as 59, but it is 57 1/2. The plastic insert used at the bottom of the shade is the correct length.
