It is made from recycled material so is smells like tires but the smell went away once dirt and plants were added.

This is a very sturdy pot and will last a long time outside. My only gripe relates to the drainage mechanism at the base of the pot. There's a 4 inch tube with a small diameter connected to the bottom of the pot designed to release excess water through a hole (requires removal of a rubber plug to work): This provides inadequate drainage and the tube is easily clogged resulting in a considerable volume of water standing at the bottom of the pot. To correct this I simply drilled 4 large holes, evenly spaced, around the base of the pot. This will provide good drainage and avoids standing water from forming inside the pot. This is a design flaw that should be addressed by the manufacturer particularly for the $70 I paid for this pot.

Quality is awesome. Well made product. Can’t comment on durability, since I just purchased these items. Wish they came in something other than black.

I love the Tierra Verde pots and planters that Home Depot offers. I have purchased many sizes of planters and pots from this brand to place on my back porch this spring. Now they are all a uniform color and look great. I love the rubber like material, they are sturdy and won't crack in the heat or cold so I can leave outside year round. This is a great product.

The size & material fit the bill for our location. Store assistance to pull from storage was immediately forthcoming. The web site helped identify store location for availability.

Planters are fine. Just too small for the project..

This is the fifth Florencia planter I’ve purchased. It’s a perfect size for compact berry bushes and dwarf fruit trees. There is ample room for healthy root systems to spread, and the water reservoir is very generous. I live in an area with heavy rains and have found the single overflow drain inadequate at times. To prevent water from backing up and over-saturating the soil, I usually drill two small holes right above the water reservoir. They drain excess water easily and without compromising the self-watering feature. My plants are thriving.

This was a terrible purchase. I specifically bought this planter because I wanted something with drainage. It did not come with a plug which was the first issue as I wanted to use it indoors. I replanted my palm tree into it anyway and just put a tray underneath to catch the water. I gave the plant plenty of water expecting it to start draining out the bottom and it never did, despite giving it about 15L. It simply started to fill up and become muddy. Couldn’t figure out why it wasn’t draining since there was no plug in the bottom and I was able to feel inside the drainage hole. A few days later I googled it to try and figure out what was wrong and finally found a review saying the pot didn’t actually drain because the hole in the bottom was blocked despite seeming open. I ended up drilling a hole in the side of the pot just below where the tray inside would sit and water came POURING out. My palm tree is now dead from being drowned because the pot doesn’t drain.

Made from recycled rubber, is not supposed to crack if frozen, but I have not had it freeze yet so I don't know how it will do. During the warmer months it worked as advertised, looks nice and has not faded or changed appearance after about 6 months of use.

Shopped for it online and did not see it in person before purchasing. I love it! Even better than I had expected.

This planter is solid - I have 5 of them. I have planted a Lemon & Lime tree in two of them, a climbing vine in a third one. The planters look nice allowing plenty of space for root development. But I do so wish the company who make them would make a dolly with a water-catch so I could take it indoors in bad weather. I cannot find one that is 16" diameter, the base of these pots is 14" . These pots are advertised as coming with a plug in the base for drainage, plug it if you want to bring it indoors, but only 1 in 3 of the pots arrived with the plug and one arrived without the soil container! Finally, fed up, I purchased my remaining pots from another store, who checked the items were complete before releasing them to me. Apart from which how can one tip a heavy pot with a tree in it and find where to put the bung plug in the center of the base? That's why I looked for a dolly with a water catch. Now I've got to get a separate saucer and dolly if I wish to bring the pots indoors in bad weather.

Perfect for large indoor plants.

I love pots with water reservoirs. It’s al I use anymore. If the pot doesn’t have one, I modify the pot so that it has one. That being said, these pots are a bit lacking. I bought four pots. Before filling I went to test the reservoirs and drains. Two worked and two did not. I had to find out why. The bottom platform is held to the pot with a piece of metal. Trying to remove this metal causes the “unbreakable” pot to break. It’s just a little rubber nub and the bottom and not really needed, but still upsetting at a level. After removing the plastic piece from the first pot it was discovered the drain was clogged with debris. The drain hold is very small and will probably clog again. On the second pot, which also broke, it was discovered that there was no drain hole, just a solid piece of rubber. I had to get a drill bit and make a drain hole. The height of the drains did seem very well calculated. They just aren’t built well, large enough, and quality control appears lacking. There is also no way to tell what the level in the reservoir is. How do I know when I need to add water? A bit disappointed in these pots.

The drain is underneath but the pot is so heavy when planted that you can’t access it.

Best really big pot I’ve found. Love the drainage system to keep the roots from getting soggy. Hopefully my 50-year-old calamondin orange is much happier in this pot for the summer!
