Great product
The product worked well. It was slow enough that you could get the effect you wanted and you could put as many coats on as necessary to get you desired effect.

Great value for the money
I was hesitant about trying this after reading the reviews about the purple tint. However, I'm on a very tight budget and needed a cheap option for a hallway dog gate. I used the 70% off pine lumber and throw away pallet boards. First coat looked purplish. My wife freaked out. I let it dry and applied two more coats. Came out incredible considering the cost.

I wanted to use pallet wood for the baseboard/window/door molding...
I wanted to use pallet wood for the baseboard/window/door molding in a room I'm remodeling. I loved the grey weathered look of a lot of the boards, once they are cleaned properly, the grey goes away. I was looking for a stain that would be comparable when I stumbled upon this one. It was absolutely perfect! Very easy to use, you just brush on and let it dry! I highly recommend this if that's the look you're going for!

Let's see what we can figure out. For best results using Varathane Aged Wood Accelerator, apply with a synthetic bristle brush or foam brush. Allow Aged Wood Accelerator to sit on the wood for 30 minutes to 1 hour for the final effect. Final look varies depending on type of wood, harder woods may require a second coat to achieve the desired aged effect.

Procures a rustic look
Pros:
- definitely looks like charred wood
-cleans up with soap and water
-no odor
Cons:
-has a tendency to apply very blotchy
-very runny (like water), a mess to apply to vertical surfaces
In conclusion: would only use in rustic applications

Thank you for the feedback! With softer woods such as pine, we would recommend conditioning the wood first before applying the Rust-Oleum Varathane Charred Wood Accelerator. This will ensure a more even, less blotchy finish. For conditioning, we recommend using Rust-Oleum Varathane Wood Conditioner.
