Good garden soil, and it's organic. I had good results using it with potted plants. I like this smaller size bag too, since it was all I needed.

Veggies are Doing Well
I used this soil for my fall garden. I already had sprouts after using a seedling starter tray and needed to transplant them to my raised garden. I haven't used soil like this in the past, but my summer garden didn't fair well this year so I wanted to be safe and get everything perfect. It's been a month and so far everything looks good and the plants are growing fine.
There's a combination of soil and some wood chips but it mixed well and didn't have any rocks or other debris in it. It was easy to work with and I didn't have to break it up or anything as I used it.
Bought this yesterday for a 'green' office event with 27 colleagues. Planted our seeds and when we started to put water in the pots one person announced, "hey, this dirt floats". Mostly small wood chips, not "soil", but it could become soil-like with a year or two more composting.

Review for the Vigoro 1 cu. Ft. garden soil
I’ve used this garden soil plenty of times for basic lawn and garden projects and I must say that this is some quality soil!
This stuff is very good for growing:
*Trees, shrubs, and flowers
*Vegetables: tomatoes, peppers, carrots, turnips, radishes, squash, and pumpkins
*And everything else I’ve tried it on
Pros:
*Decent price
*Versatile
*Good clean soil with no rocks or trash
*Great germination rate when planting grass
Cons:
haven’t found any yet!!
All in all, 5 out of 5
Here’s a tip: Before using garden soil or compost make sure it’s cold; if it is your ready to go. If it’s hot it hasn’t finished cooking yet, so you might want to let it set for a few weeks to finish cooking.
I would definitely recommend this fine organic garden soil.

Full of wood chips, a rip off
Bought different brandz of soil before, this was the worst, it could not hold any water and had no nutrients in it

Better than expected
Much better than cheap POTTING soil... just add some Perlite to this if you need POTTING soil & $ave!
Otherwise just mix in with your dirt (mine is all clay unless I've planted there before). I try to put quite a bit underneath and around the plant then mix-in with some dirt. I usually add some organic fertilizer like 10-10-10 and even a handful of clean, dried, & crushed egg shells because my soil is acidic with lots of oak trees.
There's a saying the plant is only as good as the dirt :) From my experience I'd say that only a few plants thrive in poor soil, so look those up if you don't want to end up buying potting/garden soil every time you plant.
Don't buy the cheap stuff - it is not much better than top soil and in the long run your plants will probably die.
BIG TIP: Never EVER buy TOP SOIL - it is the worst stuff there is. Just burned -up dust with absolutely zero nutrients.

Good Organic Garden Soil
This is good, rich, organic garden soil. An added bonus is that it has fertilizer in it also so it will feed the plants for some time after also. This isn't for in pots or planters but for in growing gardens it is great! I mixed it with the native soil like it said to on the bag and it really made the soil so rich and full or nutrients. I could tell that my plants were happy.
I just opened the bag after sitting in full Texas heat for 2 weeks and grabbed two handfuls (women hands) and there were 5-6 fungus gnats flying around after putting it down, counted 7 gnat worms in the soil itself just from the first grab. Hard to miss seeing that the soil is black and the worms are clear/whitish with their black head. I was hoping this would be better than buying the coir alone and having to rinse it due to salinity. Ugh... In my dreams!!! After I get my worms breeding like no other and pooping lbs, I'm going to stick with black cow and peat or coir and let my worms go at it before using it for seedlings. After all, 75% worm castings plus 25% compost does my seedlings wonders!

Great Organic Product, Great Price, Good Info
I switched from MiracleGro to Vigoro Organic Garden Soil as they had better origin info. After going through over a Dozen bags, I never had any problems with gnats or trash just great results. I have had some problems with Cut Worms and Grub Worms which can't be attributed to the Product as these are just larvae of Moths and Beetles which fly in and lay eggs. By the way there is a great new product which eliminates these pests and many more called Biologic's Beneficial Nematodes available on line and in some stores.

Oh my
Should have read these reviews first. Bought ten bags and all of them had trash in them They do not sift the soil to get rid of this stuff prior to bagging it? Made for a lot of extra work so NO I do not recommend.

Now with Plastic!
Bought 12 bags and dumped them into the garden. While mixing in with the other soil I noticed little junks and pieces of blue, red, and clear plastic bags were mixed in! Advertised as an Organic soil but they don't include on their label that the bags also include garbage. I'm disgusted with this product and the fact that because of it I have pieces of plastic mixed throughout my garden.

Stay Away! Fungus Gnats!
I purchased 3 bags of this product for a school garden and used it indoors to start a few seedlings. Within a few days our rooms were infested with gnats. This is not our first time doing this, but its the first time we used Vigoro garden soil. Stay away from this product at all cost. Very disappointed in the Vigoro name after this purchase.

Works well
My wife used this garden soil in our greenhouse to start containerized herbs and vegetables. From there we moved them out to planting boxes, but retained the soil around the plants. This worked very well and we had excellent results. She found that the garden soil retained moisture well and grew the plants without the need to amend it with fertilizer.
The Vigoro brand has been around for ages so don't know how you could go wrong purchasing this soil. It is moisture retentive so you do not need to water as much. I have it mixed into my flower beds and it feeds them for three months too! There is no smell to it like other soils I have used and been turned off by. So far, this soil seems to be very good.
I bought multiple bags of Vigorous organic garden soil in the spring and used about 1-1/2 bags for gardening and house plants. I noticed a lot of weeds coming up, but that does happen outdoors. When I went back to use more soil later in the season I noticed that the soil in the bags was thick with growing plants. As I dug through the dirt there were large clumps of BIRDSEED! The soil was contaminated with millet and sunflower seeds and other seeds for birds. And there was a lot of it. So what happened? You sweep the floor of the area used for filling the other varieties of bagged products and use that to fill the bags for garden soil? I doubt this would matter if you were using it for grass seeding, but for house plants and garden this soil is a very poor choice. And there are many, many other choices out there.

Good filler soil
This is a good filler type of soil that may be used to amend clay soil in a garden. It should not be used to replace top soil or potting soil. The garden soil makes a good additive when mixed with other compost, manure, according to the nutrients required by the crops that are being grown. The garden soil was fine, without clumps or rocks. Overall it would be good for filling holes.
This "soil" is nothing but finely ground mulch. My plants looked sickly all summer and would never thrive, even with a feeding of miracle grow. Waste of money - do not purchase!

Superior Garden Soil
This garden soil is definitely of the highest quality. It has a fine texture, a rich dark color and excellent moisture retention. There are no clumps, fillers or mulch pieces. I am also happy that its organic. Definitely worth the slightly higher price, especially because it fertilizes for up to three months. I will use it for all my herbs and veggies.
I have used this product before and I will definitely use it again. I have several flower gardens on my property, and I am always adding fresh garden soil through out the growing season. I recently put in new stepping stones from the house to the driveway, and used this product to plant grass seed around the stepping stones. This product didn't allow the seed to wash away, and the grass came in, in record time.
This garden soil is great for retaining moisture. We have had little rain this summer and the drought conditions prompted me to find solutions for the lack of rain. I put this soil around all my rhododendrons, bush plants, and on the top of all my large potted plants. It has been a tremendous help. Plus, it helps keep them fertilized and healthy. It's the best organic soil I have found and has been a savior for some of my thirst-starved plants.
Very high quality garden soil.... Mixed with the native soil in my area (Southern Nevada) it makes for a great growing medium.... The Southwest desert soil needs all it can get in the way of nutriants, and the garden soil is the key to a great, healthy garden... Organic, Helps retain moisture, what more could I ask for... Highly recommended for any type of garden, flowers, vegetables, shrubs...You name it, better, healthier plants mostly due to great root systems...
I bought this product for both my garden and my father's. I have been gardening for years and always have a successful garden. But this year everything I planted is suffering. And my father's garden died. I will never purchase this soil again.

Good Soil
While my garden is currently in good shape, I got this soil to use on a spot in my lawn where I buried a small dry well for rain water. I live in a coastal area where the solid can generally be described as sandy and the grass is not growing well over the drywall (even though it does have a good 10-12 inches of soil above it). I am hoping this will provide the moisture retention feel I am missing as well as it having nutrients to feel the for 3 months..
All and all the soil itself looks good and am hoping it performs as described..
Time will tell…. Look back for my update
I have spent so much money and time buying soil. I do not know what this organic soil by Vigoro different from others by the same company- they seem the same by the title Yet this bag is more money for less product. I have bought natures choice and some others as well. I came home with seven bags of this today. It is super black super rich, pure soul. Not a lot of mulch, branches, rocks - none of those things. Just super dark SOIL.not clumpy or sandy or - anything other than the best soil that says organic I've ever found.

Great garden soil.
This is a dark rich looking organic garden soil, more like black gold. Just keep it like this and I will continue to buy it.

Love this soil!!!
We love the fact that it is all organic materials, no chemicals. The COIR ingredient is great for natural moisture control. Very satisfied with this product, will continue to buy.
